Kylie Minogue's ex-boyfriend Olivier Martinez has accepted undisclosed libel damages over a claim that he had cheated on her during their long-term relationship.
The French-born actor and model suffered considerable embarrassment, distress and harm to his personal reputation as a result of the article in The Sun in November 2007, his solicitor said.
He told a judge at London's High Court that the allegation, which was denied by both Olivier and Kylie in February 2007, was not put to Olivier before publication.
He said that News Group Newspapers now accepted that the allegations, which also appeared on its website, were defamatory and untrue and ought never to have been published.
"The defendant accepts that the claimant was not unfaithful to Ms Minogue."
The solicitor for the newspaper, which has agreed to pay Olivier damages and his costs, sincerely apologised.
