Is there any major difference between Nexiq 1 and Nexiq 2 as the price difference isn't much?

Nexiq 1 is the past, Nexiq 2 is the future.

Nexiq 1 is discontinued. no more updates but for most people it will still work just fine.
Nexiq 2 is the current model and has more future potential than what the Nexiq 1 could do.

Cables for each are different so they are not interchangeable. When ordering, you should make sure you get 3 different cables. The standard 6/9 pin y-cable with the green connector on the 9 pin plug so you can communicate to the newer 500k baud network. A standard OBD II cable and an OBD II Cat cable to talk to Caterpillar engines in GM trucks. If you need to communicate to trailer ABS, you will also need a PLC adapter.

Do NOT buy the inexpensive clones that normally come with multiple cables. The clones are not reliable and if they update with Nexiq software, they will become a brick.

Which one would you recommend wifi or bluetooth?

Both will work off bluetooth but I find bluetooth very slow. It's faster and easier just to use a cable to connect to the laptop. The cable is a standard USB "printer" cable. I like using a 5 meter cable so I can move the laptop out of the truck is I have to. There are times I've used the laptop on the other side of the truck and even under the truck. The long cable makes it easier. Occasionally, I'll use bluetooth.

I have no idea what the wifi option is. To me, that would mean if the Nexiq is communicating to the laptop over wifi then the laptop's network connection isn't connected to a router. Just ignore any wifi options.

The Nexiq 2 clones don't have 26 pin cables just the standard fitting also the usb connector is different and there is a hole by the usb connector on the clones as well.

Communication with Vediamo:

I try Vediamo with some ECU's without car and the function was without any problem, 120 © resistor and +12V and GND for the ECU and 100% OK
the ECU must have the same power line as in the car, not enough everytime only +12V and GND, some ECU need power signal from igniton switch like 15-line ! or have multiple +12V power as for example engine ECU !
i try it before with one resistor 100 ©, because i haven't exactly 120 © value and this was 50/50, the function was bad...the resistor must be exactly 120 ©, without any tolerance !!! Be careful



Communication with DAS/Xentry :

DAS/Xentry is not factored for the same playing as Vediamo...then you can't await the same function...

That is, ECU without car is not possible, because DAS/Xentry read first information about the car from ZGW, CGW....VIN and other info

Part 1: Tango Pros and Xhorse VVDI2 Pros

Tango Pros:


  1. If you are going to make keys from dump and readingwith a programmer buy tango.

  2. Tango good support and more features.

  3. Most makes/models have guides with pics

  4. Many makers are free with standard tool and you can just add when you need


Xhorse VVDI2 Pros:

  1. If you are looking to make keys over OBD buy VVDI2 is a good tool for BMW CAS/MB EZS.
    If you buy VVDI2 I also recommend complement with VVDI programmer.


So, what about buy both original Tango and Xhorse VVDI2?

Of course you can, but there are a lot of cars that you will need to remove BCM's, immo's...etc because vvdi2 and tango makes keys from dunmp except vvdi2 makes bmw and vag over obd2. skp900 and obdstar make keys via obd2  and  don't work on fiat, opel, renault and some few brands.

Part 2: VVDI 2 VS VVDI PRO

VVDI Pro is used for Chip bottom communication, read erase write eeprom flash data. VVDI2 is for OBD key programming, KM reset and repair and more functions. Better refer to the user manual.

Read Pin Code



Type 1: when at least one key aivailable

insert the key and the car start. Repeat Ignition ON/OFF for several times. Go to immo data verification

Type 2: when all keys are lost

it’s normal to see the wiper is working and headlight turns on for 30 aeconds around

The biggest advantage for newbies: avoid high risk to disassemble BSI to read PIN

(to change a BSI costs 150 usd, then matching with PP2000 sw)

Peupeot 408 in the current version is not available

But go for 308; it’s ok to finish it

Repeat remote proggramming, steps:

Step 1 ignition off, then take out the key

Step 2 insert another key, ignition on

Step 3 within 20s, press any button on the remote for 5 seconds

Step 4 ignition off, and take out the key

Step 5 for more keys to be programmed, just repeat step 2-4



Done! Lonsdor K518ISE programmer is able to read PIN code and program a new key to Peugeot 408 2013 when do all keys are lost.

VVDI PROG and mcu 5M48H important tip

Very important!!! This is not first time with this mcu 5M48H and vvdi Pro. When the prog not cracked sec for the first time then you have corrupted p-flash, always in the same place. I recommend the use of hot air to heat the mcu only on the time to reset sec. When you reading backups then no needed to heat.

What is KTAG KESS KTM BDM Adapter & How to use?

KTAG KESS KTM BDM adapter Full Set is an electronic circuit intended for BDM operation on supported ECU. The adapter provides pogo pin based connectors for interfacing the ECU BDM connector. So, how to use DM adapters with Ktag Kess KTM100 Dimsport?

Steps outlined below describe a safe procedure when connecting and powering up the setup. Always be sure to provide the ECU power (from either tool or external source) after the adapter has been secured in a desired position - touching the ECU BDM pads. This will prevent you from short circuiting the setup.


  1. Open the ECU



  • at least one part of the casing (top or bottom) needs to be removed

  • refer to other sources (Internet) to get information on which part needs removing on your


ECU

  1. Locate the ECU BDM connector



  • usually a set of 10 - 12 pads in two rows (depending on the ECU)

  • pads may be 2.54 mm or 1.27 mm apart (depending on the ECU)

  • rows may be 2.54 mm or 5.08 mm apart (depending on the ECU)

  • if the ECU BDM connector can not be located, chances are that the BDM pads are scattered


all over the ECU PCB in which case you can not use the adapter directly - nevertheless it is

possible to manually route the adapter BDM signals to the ECU BDM pads (only for

advanced users)

  1. Locate the ECU BDM pin 1 position



  • pin 1 is usually not clearly marked on the ECU BDM pin out

  • on an ECU with the standard Motorola BDM pin out pins 3 and 5 are connected to ground -


this can be checked either visually or using a multimeter tool

  • refer to other sources (Internet) to get more information on the pin 1 position for your ECU



  1. Place the desired adapter in the frame saddle



  • make sure the pogo pins are facing out

  • lift the saddle so that the ECU can be slided under the frame adapter saddle



  1. Place the ECU on the frame



  • inspect the adapter for pogo pin 1 location which is clearly marked

  • rotate the ECU on the frame so that the adapter pogo pin 1 and ECU BDM pin 1 match

  • make sure ECU is firmly sitting on the frame

  • double check the ECU position



  1. Connect the multiplexer board and adapter



  • at this point multiplexer board should be connected to the adapter via MUX connector

  • this will allow LEDs on the adapter to illuminate the area of interest (where the pogo pins


need to touch the ECU BDM pads)

  • do not connect the tool yet



  1. Connect the external power (+12 V) to the multiplexer



  • multiplexer external power is used to power the LEDs on the adapter allowing easier


positioning of the adapter pogo pins on the ECU BDM pads

  • red LED on multiplexer board will light up when external power (+12 V) is present

  • at this point the white LEDs on the adapter should also light up

  • do not connect the tool yet



  1. Fine tune the ECU position



  • lower the frame adapter saddle to almost touch the ECU BDM pads

  • each adapter pogo pin needs to sit on a separate ECU BDM pad

  • if pogo pins do not sit on the pads you may be using the wrong adapter - do not use the


adapter in this case!

  1. Lower the frame adapter saddle



  • each adapter pogo pin should sit on one ECU BDM pad

  • minimum down force should be applied when making the interconnection between the


adapter and ECU

  1. Double check the adapter pogo pin and ECU BDM pad interconnection



  • in order not to damage the ECU and/or tool make sure that the steps above have been


performed correctly

  1. Connect the tool to the multiplexer board



  • only connect one tool at any given moment to the multiplexer

  • make sure to use the correct 10-pin IDC connector (FGTECH, XPROG, BDM100&KTAG)


for interfacing the tool used:

Ë use provided 10-pin to 10-pin cable with FGTECH or BDM100 tools

Ë use provided 10-pin to 16-pin cable with XPROG tool

Ë use manufacturer 10-pin to 25-pin cable with KTAG tool

  • do not connect the tool to the 10-pin IDC connector labeled MUX

  • do not power up the tool yet



  1. For Bosch adapteronly



  • Bosch ECUs need to have ECU power supplied on the pogo pins (2 and 9)

  • some tools provide dedicated ECU power (BDM100, KTAG) while others do not


(XPROG, FGTECH)

  • Bosch adapter can be used in both cases, providing that the jumper is properly placed on


the 3-pin header (found on the adapter)

  • place the jumper on the adapter on the 3-pin header to the correct position:


Ë place jumper over left and central pins when using XPROG and FGTECH tools - this will use +12 V power delivered from the multiplexer board (external power) for powering the ECU

Ë place jumper over right and central pins when using BDM100 or KTAG tools - this will use

+12 V power delivered by the tool for powering the ECU

  1. For Siemens, Delphi and Marelli adapters only



  • Siemens, Delphi and Marelli do not provide ECU power on the pogo pins

  • in order to power the ECU +12 V and ground signals needs to be connected to the ECU separately (usually over the ECU interfacing connector)

  • in this case ECU power can be taken from multiplexer board connectors J2 (+12 V) and J3 (ground), otherwise provide the +12 V ECU power from additional source

  • refer to other sources (Internet) to get more information on the location of the +12 V and


ground pin location for your ECU

  1. Connect the tool to the PC (or power up the tool)



  • perform software installation as described by the tool manufacturer if not done already

  • at this point the multiplexer, adapter and the ECU should be properly interconnected with


BDM signals and power lines

Ë multiplexer red LED should be lit up

Ë adapter white LEDs should be lit up

Ë ECU power (+12 V) should be present

  • connect the tool to the PC (usually done over USB or serial connection)



  1. Perform BDM operation(s)



  • start up the software package to operate the tool

  • perform desired BDM operation(s)Note: This is used for reference; in fact, it depends. Try on your own risk.

ADAPTER

is an electronic circuit board designed for a certain ECU (manufacturer), with pogo pins and a 10-pin

IDC connector for interfacing the multiplexer board.

BDM

is an acronym for Background Debug Mode, an interface designed by the Motorola company, widely

used in automotive industry, present on modern ECUs. Not all ECUs are capable of interfacing

through the BDM - see Appendix for the list of ECUs that support the BDM interface.

ECU

is an acronym for Engine Control Unit, a piece of hardware containing electronic circuit used to

control and monitor the vehicle engine operation.

ECU BDM CONNECTOR

is a set of pads found on the ECU, used to interconnect adapter with the ECU in non destructive

way - usually by the means of the pogo pins. Most of the ECU BDM connectors have their pads laid

out according to the standard Motorola BDM pin out. Some ECUs may have proprietary BDM pin

outs or BDM pads scattered all over the ECU PCB.

FRAME

is a mechanical contraption used to fix the adapter for the BDM operation. It usually allows sliding

the adapter up and down to get it into contact with the ECU BDM connector.

MULTIPLEXER

is an electronic circuit board for interfacing any adapter through the 10-pin IDC connector (MUX)

with one of the supported BDM tools through the designated 10-pin IDC connector (FGTECH,

XPROG, BDM100&KTAG).

TOOL

is a third party piece of equipment used for BDM operation – supported tools include

BDM100, FGTECH, KTAG and XPROG.
