TORNADO U LONDONU???



Lightning strikes, power failures, flooding and a pre-tornado sighting in London marked a violent storm that swept the region yesterday. The storm pummelled the region with more than 24 millimetres of rain in just over an hour, leaving people scurrying for cover and firefighters scrambling to keep up with weather-related calls. Most of the action came between 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., with an Environment Canada thunderstorm watch upgraded to a tornado warning after pre-tornado rotating clouds were seen in London. Sirens wailed across Middlesex County as firefighters rushed to at least 18 storm-related calls during that hour, said Rick Jefferson of the London fire department. Three city buildings, including the Idlewyld Inn on Grand Avenue, were reportedly struck by lightning, and firefighters outside the city dealt with downed trees and power lines. Though no serious fires were sparked by lightning, a London-area horse-riding camp that caters to disabled kids was evacuated when the building was hit by lightning...
