podsjetilo me na davne dane
AT FIRST SOUND MUNICH - Singer Bibi Johns (79) and her partner, the musician Alex Racic (39), are now 120 years old together. But the age difference is not an issue for them for a long time. In the AZ interview they talk about their lives, their love and their songs. January 15, 2009 - 4:55 pm | Evening News AZ: Ms. Johns, it's a milestone birthday for you... BIBI JOHNS: ...on the 21st Alex has three days before. He'll be 40, I'll be 40 twice. I prefer to say it that way because 80, even if it's just a number, sounds scary. ALEX RACIC: We're celebrating our 120th birthday You met on a cruise twelve years ago. Was it love at first sight? B.J.: More like the first note. I was fascinated by the sensitive way in which this very young pianist played Liszt, Schumann and other classics. A.R.: When I heard Bibi singing “Et maintenant” by Gilbert Bécaud during rehearsal, I found the petite woman with the beautiful voice simply sensational. Did you stay together from then on? B.J.: Actually, yes - even if he first went back to Vienna and I to Munich. I got a love letter from him every day, beautiful, sweet letters - although his German wasn't that good back then. Poetic letters that I first thought he didn't write himself, he read somewhere. But they were original texts. A.R.: I think letters are important. If Bibi gets up before me - I'm a night person - she'll still find one today. Was the age difference an issue for you initially? B. J.: At first I was a bit – shall we say – cautious. But Alex convinced me. A.R.: For me there was no doubt that she is the woman for me. You, Mrs. Johns, were married to star director Michael Pfleghar and had partners after him. B.J.: (impishly): I'm 80. What does Alex have that the others didn't? B.J.: He's romantic, very, very thoughtful, and no matter how busy he is, he's always there for me. I haven't had that until now. And he doesn't look bad. And you, Alex - did you have a great love before Bibi? A.R.: I wasn't that open to relationships. I practiced the piano like crazy, gave concerts, developed in a different direction than other young people. If there were dreams, they have come true several times with Bibi. Do you often talk about what Bibi used to do - about her appearances with stars like Tom Jones? B.J.: I had an exciting life. But I'm not attached to what was. A.R.: I didn't know any of the popular music names, including Bibis. But I realized right away that she doesn't sing cheap hits. And I'm happy when old films of hers are shown in the afternoon program - like her favorite film "When Women swindle" recently. Then we spend a few comfortable hours. How do you celebrate your birthdays? B.J.: The two of us in a holiday hotel on a lake, the exact destination won't be revealed. And how's the music going? B.J.: I don't have any concert dates at the moment - I would also like to perform only here in the area. Traveling is too tiring for me. You work together with three jazz musicians. B.J.: We have a program with swing, a medley with my old hits and folk songs. It's just hard to get engagements - the technology and everything that goes with it has become too expensive for many. Sometimes I think about painting again. A.R.: I'd rather not (he smiles). When Bibi is painting, I can't reach her for hours or days, locking herself in her studio. We haven't been used to that for twelve years. Interview: Lotte Holetz Ajde, ljudi moji, pa nije to sve skupa tako strašno :))) Ima i nezgodnijih stvari. :)))))) |
