Ivan Đikić razjasnio način nastanka kroničnog dermatitisa

U novom, DANAŠNJEm broju najprestižnijeg znanstvenog časopisa ‘Nature’

U novom broju najprestižnijeg znanstvenog časopisa “Nature” međunarodna grupa znanstvenika predvođena profesorom Ivanom Đikićem danas, u četvrtak, objavila je otkriće koje razjašnjava način nastanka kroničnog dermatitisa.

Veliko otkriće, čiju je objavu najavio sam Đikić krajem prošle godine, plod je zajedničkog rada frankfurtskog i splitskog laboratorija.

Na objavljenom radu sudjelovao je profesor Janoš Terzić s Medicinskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Splitu, koji zajedno s profesorom Đikićem vodi Laboratorij za tumorsku biologiju u Splitu, te profesor Boris Maček sa sveučilišta u Tübingenu i doktorica Vanja Nagy sa sveučilišta u Beču, kao i suradnici iz inozemnih institucija.

U ovom radu istraživači predvođeni Đikićem proučavali su jedan od najvažnijih signalnih putova stanice (NF-kappaB), koji je ključan u imunologiji, ali ima i vrlo važnu ulogu u razvoju brojnih malignih tumora.

Znanstvenici su pokazali da je u regulaciji tog signalnog puta važan linearni ubikvitin koji stvara bjelančevina Sharpin. Miševi koji posjeduju mutaciju u Sharpin genu pokazuju upalne promjene u brojnim organima, a stanice kože tih miševa pokazuju povećanu staničnu smrtnost, što dovodi do upale u koži i kroničnog dermatitisa.

Križanjem miševa kojima nedostaje važna upalna molekula TNF s miševima koji imaju kronični dermatitis dolazi do izlječenja te bolesti.

– Na temelju tih rezultata predviđa se pozitivan terapijski učinak protutijela koja inhibiraju TNF u liječenju kroničnog dermatitisa.Također, najveći postotak kroničnog dermatitis kod ljudi ima nepoznatu etiologiju, koji se sada mogu testirati na mutacije u genima koji kontroliraju ovaj novootkriveni signalni put – komentirao je svoje najnovije otkriće profesor Đikić.

World Autism Day in Skopje

Macedonian Scientific Society of Autism is the first and single on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, dealing with the autism problematic, and it is composed of special educators and rehabilitators, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, medical doctors, immunologists, allergologists and other professionals and scientific workers.
In the occasion of notification of the World autism day 2nd of April, we got an idea to organize a small event, by which we will enable all interested to expend their knowledge, realize their humanity and to contribute in improving of the general conditions of the persons with autism and their families, we will also enable them to get introduced with the basic autism characteristics and its conditions in the Republic of Macedonia, in relation to the nowadays experience which shows that the culture and knowledge about the autism problematic is very low.
It is our pleasure to inform you that the patron of the event is the wife of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Mrs. Maja Ivanova.
The event will be organized on the 2nd of April (Saturday) in the area of the street Macedonia, in the center of the city of Skopje, near the monument of Mother Theresa in the period between 11:30 and 15:00 o’clock. Balloons, t-shirts with the autism sign and pamphlets with the basic information about autism will be shared symbolically. At the same time the bystanders and the visitors can follow the program with information about autism and pleasure music by our famous artists.

Gastrointestinal disturbances in patients with autistic spectrum disorders

ABSTRACT
Gastrointestinal problems occur in patients with Autistic Spectrum
Disorders (ASD) more often than in their peers without
developmental problems. The most prevalent include abdominal
pain, impaired peristaltic reflexes and eating disorders. The
study objective was to determine the incidence of gastrointestinal
disorders in ASD children with gastrointestinal complaints.
Methods: 30 patients with ASD suffering from gastrointestinal
complaints were analyzed. Results: All the children had upper
gastrointestinal tract endoscopy and four of them colonoscopy.
The nutritional condition was normal in 60% of them,
17% displayed malnutrition and 23% were overweight. Chronic
abdominal pain was observed in 80% of patients. Impairment
in peristaltic reflexes was noted in almost all autistic children.
Histopathology of the duodenum revealed changes in 70% of
cases. Colitis chronica indeterminata was recognized in all
examined children. Conclusions: Autistic children with gastrointestinal
disturbances should be looked after also by a gastroenterologist.
Higher incidence of gastrointestinal pathologies
in ASD may have influence on the behavioral patterns of these
sufferers.

Abstract

Animal data indicate that developmental tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin exposure alters immune function; however, the potential immunotoxicity of dioxin-like and non-dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the developing infant is an understudied area. The aim of the current study is to examine the association between maternal and early postnatal PCB concentrations in relation to total infant serum immunoglobulin concentrations determined at 6-months-of-age. We selected 384 mother-infant pairs participating in a birth cohort study in Eastern Slovakia. PCB concentrations of several congeners were determined in maternal and cord serum samples and in infant serum samples collected at 6-months-of-age using gas chromatography with electron capture detection. Total immunoglobulin (Ig) G, A, and M concentrations were determined by nephelometry, and IgE concentrations were determined by enzyme-linked immunoassay. Linear regression models with adjustment for potential confounding factors were used to estimate the associations between maternal, cord, and 6-month infant PCB concentrations and total serum immunoglobulins. The median maternal serum concentration of PCB-153 was 140?ng/g lipid, ?10-fold higher than concentrations in childbearing-age women in the United States during the same period. Maternal, cord, or 6-month infant PCB concentrations were not associated with total serum immunoglobulin levels at 6 months, regardless of the timing of PCB exposure, PCB congener, or specific immunoglobulin. In this population, which has high PCB concentrations relative to most populations in the world today, we did not observe any association between maternal and early postnatal PCB concentrations and total immunoglobulin measures of IgG, IgA, IgM, or IgE.
