Hrvatski ultimate

Jedini zagrebački ultimate frizbi klub u potrazi je za novim imenom. Zato pozivamo sve kreativce među vama da nam predlože originalno, cool, zabavno, nezaboravno ime, a najbolji prijedlog nagraditi ćemo "ultimativnim setom za preživljavanje u frizbi uvjetima", koji uključuje raritetno izdanje našeg frizbija, te nekoliko dodataka koje bi svaki sportaš trebao imati pri ruci.

U tijeku je još jedan uzbudljiv frizbi tjedan u Zagrebu. Na Sajmu sporta i nautike po prvi puta predstavljamo naš najdraži sport - ultimate frizbi, koji je već sada od brojnih posjetitelja prozvan glavnom atrakcijom paviljona br.6. Svi koji su nas oduvijek htjeli upoznati, baciti frizbi ili jednostavno pokupiti naš novi letak ili osvojiti pokoju nagradu, neka nas potraže na Velesajmu. (20.-24.2.2008., radno vrijeme: 10-19h)



A već prekaljeni frizbijaši koji su tijekom proteklog mjeseca napravili po 1000 sklekova, trbušnjaka, leđnjaka,...., drugim riječima, svi oni koji su ispunili uvjete za za Dinner Club, okupili su se u petak navečer i počastili brojnim specijalitetima koje su priredili Josh, Chris i Marko. Alien party, predsjednikov rođendan, el tovars "space spunk" drink, zelena Maja, space cowboy Mak (...) samo su neki od razloga zašto su se alijeni okupili u Zagrebu i uz funky ritmove slavili do jutra.

Zdravka is remembering the day she met Josip when he tripped and
fell and she got her shoe stuck in his 'fro. Meanwhile Dario pretends
he isn't putting the moves on Iva and no one listens to the Samurai
drone on about his escape from the hospital ward.



Ivan is thinking "Listen bitch, I've got you now"
Josip is day dreaming of the emergency supply of chocolate he used
to keep in the 'fro he used to have-- back in the day.



Zdravka, Zdravka, they want you to do something wacky for the
camera. Zdravka is still thinking about that fro.



If I blow in your ear, will it turn you on?



Josh: So you blow in their ear, and batta boom, batta big.
Ivan and Marko: Is that the true story about how he gets the girls?
He blows in their ears? Maybe he needs to check his glasses or lay
off the beer a bit- I never saw him get a girl with that move.



Josip: Don't take a picture of me with another hot woman, I'll get my
ass kicked by Zdravka.
Iva: My lipgloss is cool, my lipgloss is poppin.

2008. godina počela je velikim događajem za hrvatski ultimate frizbi koji zaslužuje maksimalnu pažnju u medijima. Oformljena je prva ženska ultimate ekipa koja je ubrzo zabilježilja svoj prvi turnirski nastup u austrijskom Weizu. Cure su odgirale hrabro i vrlo atraktivno, zadivile su svoje navijače i ubrzo nakon turnira odlučeno je da to ni u kojem slučaju nije bio "nastup za jedan vikend", te se kreće u stvaranje jakog zagrebačkog predstavnika u ženskoj ultimate kategoriji.



U Weizu su igrale: Andrea, Iva, Marina P, Marina Đ, Martina i Zdravka feat. VGirlzzz (Jasmina i Valentina)

Why is it all quiet on the blog? The President left town and the rest of the team spent extra time at chalk talk to prepare for Weiz. You can see the coach here engaging the team with ideas from the play book.


Chicks With Disk summaries follow...

Chicks with disks vs. Frisky Beez: 4:7
I expected it to be the hardest game for us and was a bit afraid – however it turned out to be a nice starting game! We managed to make the first defense and scored right away. I think it wasn´t only me who was so surprised – also the Frisky Beez turned out to be a little nervous. We held the score tight to 4:4 – in the end they managed to have a good finish and they won this close game.

Chicks with disks vs. W:adies (Ballerinas): 3:11
We scored two points in the beginning but then we let our heads down. Nevertheless I really liked playing against this team. Getting everyone involved is what you need for being a strong team that is what we were doing!!! W:adies continued on to become the champions.


Chicks with disks vs. Gazongas: 10:4
What I really loved in this game was that everyone started to try new things, to throw long ones, to demand the disk. Thanks Iva that you told us that you want the disk more on the field – I think you helped all of us stepping up and you got it back into our head that WE CAN DO IT!

Party…. Hm… I fear I´m the wrong person to write about this… I can only tell some of my sweet dreams as I went to bed that early… ;-) (See Men's report for the longer report.)

Chicks with disks vs. Eyecatchers: 5:6
It was one of our best games – we played tough defense and concentrated offense – as the result shows! An awesome game! The last point they set up a zone and we really made it up to the line of our endzone unluckily we couldn´t finish it – but – awesome middle-handling-position Andrea!!! I think this was our best offensive game!!!


Chicks with disks vs. To mi Deli: 1:7
The result doesn´t show the intensity of the game. It was a hard, hot, fast and sweaty game. All of us played a great defense we really wanted to get the disk and give them a hard time. The problem on offense was that our pulse was too high and we forgot breathing and calming down when we had the disk. Iva – we missed you a lot on the field and appreciated your hard work on the sideline! Thanks for cheering on us!!!

Chicks with Disks vs. Eyecatchers – game for 5th place: 1:5(?)
We didn´t manage to calm down enough after the game against the Slovenians. Eyecatchers kept on playing the zone defense against us and although we passed the disk a lot we didn´t manage to score a point – until Jasmina passed the disk to Valentina when the time was already over. However who cares about wins and losses in our first tournament.

In my opinion this first tournament was totally successful! There was no game we didn´t have any chance and we all gave our best!!

The Men's team was in a mode to work hard and make themselves known... the following is their game summary.

Here it goes....
Game One Upsy Daisy final 1:8 bad guys
Mali Dim started out tough. It took over 6 minutes for the first score unfortunately it was UDs score. After another MD turnover UD went up 0:2. That did not stop Mali Dim. After some quick passing Frki threw a longer pass to hit Dario for the teams only score. Ud then displayed they could go long with a quick score they made it 1:3. Ogi and Frki were the only two players with sure hands and good throws. The team looked forward to their long time nemesis and sister club Frizmi.

Game Two (our sisters) Frizmi final 3:6 them
Mali Dim figured out how to score first as Dario found Alex in the goal zone. Frizmi would not be deterred and handled the disc like it was gold. They would score two quick points. Being down by one coach found Goran in the end zone to tie it up. Frizmi played error free and pushed to a 3 point lead. MD fought hard and got the score to 3:5 with 2 minutes left. Frizmi finished with the last point.

Game Three Stack-O final 6:2 good guys
We did not want to come out of the pool play in fourth. MD would already be in the lower bracket, it was time to show we were not the push over team. We started on defense and got a quick turn that resulted in a score. Stacko had trouble taking care of the disc and MD built up a 5 to 1 lead before their first turnover! MD showed poise with their handling even when Stacko ran their zone defense. The sixth point for MD came after working the disc around for nine plus minutes without a drop! Now we know the what the phrase treating the disc like gold means.

Game Four Giri 45 final 7:4 good guys
After playing two tough teams and one weak team MD was looking to finish the day with an even record. We got an earlier turnover and Dario hit Al deep... but we did not want the game to be too easy. Frki jumped out and got his first block of the tourney! The stats do not show who scored the last point but happy MD was injury free walking off the field after a day of play.

Saturday Intermission.......
We may not have won the best dress competition, but I think we could challenge most teams in a drinking contest. Good news Teammates help Ruki home after too much TeQuila. Way to ring in a birthday. Unfortunately, Ruki was not the only one carried home. Ninja turns (tricks) or into pole dancer...still awaiting confirmation photos. Andrea (cwd) kicks ass on the foos table. Josh stays sober to haul the gimp home. Not sure how others fared, but the morning injury list was longer.

Sunday morning damage report....
Good news Alex was not apologizing for the night before.
Bad News my ankle did not miraculously heel so I could play.
Worse news 3 MD players still drunk in morning. (one made it on to the field, one made it to the sideline, one stayed in bed) 2 preached about never drinking again.



Game Five Catchup (black or white not sure) final 11-6 MD wins
So when your team drops two players of the nine that could play and has a third is feeling the effects of the night before substitutions become rare. Instead of playing long disc controlling points MD decide to out run and gun Catch Up. Chep presented his first throwing score of the tournament and Ninja (after a bad drop) showed that poles were not the only thing he holds on to. Congrats on his first score of this tournament. (Upon scoring, I think his wife screamed louder than he did but it is hard to tell.) MD was heading towards a seeding game with the other Slo. team.

Game Six Vertigo final 7-6 the orange wins
By far the toughest game to watch. MD regained control after a slow start and scored the second point. The game went back and forth. MD was up 5:3 and the fatigue started to show. We ended up having more turns in the last eight minutes than the previous two games. Vertigo played with patience in a zone that should have worked to our advantage. Vertigo tied it at 6 with no time left and Mali Dim turned it over allowing Vertigo to score the last point of the game. MD would be playing for 11th place against the Catchup team we beat that morning.

Game Seven Catchup (again) final 10-8 MD
With seven games to play a team can look at their wins and loses. MD was 3-3 and the one of those would be a four. Catchup came in to the game looking for revenge. The game became a shoot out as neither team seemed energized enough to stop the deep throw. MD would not turn it over until the end and this was the deciding factor. Ninja threw his first score to break a 7:7 tie. The game was fast and fun featuring only three drops by MD. Interesting that the final win loss record would show only three dropped games.

Final tallies MD 11th place of 16....No long term injuries....Lots of growth.... Tonnes of fun.....and a Ruki dodging the land shark initiation!
