fiber-liscious!

Time for that Bi-Weekly Fiber Fest. Bring your Knitting, Spinning, Sewing, Embroidery over to the land of South Philly. You know you want to do it with other fiber friends who understand your undying love of silk duponi, your fascination over kettle dyed threads, you fetish for fleece. When: Thursday April 20th 7-10 pm (or when ya'll go home)Where: South Philly, my house. Please comment for directions.What to bring? Your latest project and something yummy to eat and share. I'm still working on what the blazes to cook. Perhaps a veggie casserole, or something equally veggie will appear. 2 notes of note:*we are a collection spot for the Dulaan Project. Springing into Fiberist Thursday.

Fiber nite goes West!

Howdy partners! As Ms. purlewe will be entertaining out of town guests this Thursday, we will be having Fiber nite at the rhiann31 ranch, in West Philly.Not to worry cowpokes, it's only down the road a piece from the regular location, easily accessible by carriage (the 34 trolley). Time/Place set for Photo Shoot

Dear gang-I have a time/place for the Photo Shoot. Here are the details:Who: you and your handknit goodness. Preferably a wearable item. (yes, it is ok to drag a loved one that owns the item along to be photographed)Where: Fleischer Art Center. 7th and Catherine. directions in the link: http://www.fleisher.org/about/hours.phpWhen: This saturday, Feb 25th, 10am-noonWhy? I have been tapped by IK to take "candid" photos of knitters in their handknits. These may or not be used by IK and I will have release forms there for you to sign. I promise to email any photos I take of you to your home address so you can see what they see. I do not chose the photos, nor do I have any sway with IK. I am merely recording what they have asked.I know that it has been chilly so I will take several photos inside the Center and if there is interest I'll take some shots outside as well. If you are still interested and cannot make the Saturday date, I have until March 11th to finish up my work before sending in the photos. Olympic sized fiber night

Since Monday is a holiday I wanted to get this out there today to help remind people.Next Thursday, 2/23, is Fiber Night. 7-10 pmmy house in S. Philly. Please comment if you need directions.Since the Olympics are still on Sue suggested we try for an olympic theme.. If I get enough cleared out in the basement between now and then we *might* be able to even have some olympic time down there if people want.Soup: tortellini escarole. (veggie, but includes cheese in the torts) Fulfills the idea of both italian fare as well as looking like the medals they are giving in Torino.So feel free to bring some italian fare and your latest project. Can't wait to see you there.

FIBER NITE goes asian.Inspired by the Chinese New Year that begins this weekend, Fiber Nite is having an asian themed dinner. Vegetarian Hot and Sour Soup, plus some of my yummy asian flavored mushrooms will be served. another charity needing knitting donations.

Hey Boys and Girls After discussing the options for providing hats and scarves for the people here in New Orleans who lost everything in Katrina, we are forming a project called Bundle Up New Orleans, largely with members from the New Orleans Knitting Meetup and anyone else who wants to participate. After what Katrina did, finding winterwear hasn't been a large priority, but now that winter is actually here, it needs to be done. I've posted details at http://www.knitivity.com right there on the front page (other stuff will go there shortly; as the project grows and partners/supporters are added, it will get it's own special section. Of course, easy-care washable yarns (high-grade acrylic, acrylic-wool, and acrylic-cotton blends) with a smooth texture are always welcomed to create functional and durable winterwear. Ray Whiting
