A day cannot start without Napoleon, the movie has a splendid sountrack and this is my favorite song. Artist: Figurine Track title: New Mate One day you'll see It was wrong to leave me I light a candle in your memory Turn off the lights and cry myself to sleep My mascara's running down my cheek I haven't left the house in over a week It won't be long before they miss me Down where I work at the factory You have a new mate A powdered face I'm sure to meet I know he works in the robotics trade Must make more money than I have ever made He drives the newest model motorbike When he speeds it gets you high He has a body that I'm sure you like Leather jacket and electric tights No more nights at the disco; You'll be there so I can't go It is profound, agree? |
Still no official news about Vilma's children...We are all expecting those ultrasound news (8/9). If it shows that Vilma will be a Ma, then she'll stay pregnant and two months later the products of her pregnancy will come out in large number, no doubt! Always when you wish something, just the opposite happens, right?! In case she's not in a mother-to-be condition, I would just feel relieved because life would be so much easier! IN CASE ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN LITTLE VIZSLAS READS THIS, I WOULD LIKE TO BE INFORMED! |
This picture shows a tipical finnish expression that stands for: I don't know! En tiedä! What the fuck?! Mitä vittua?! Pretty much every finnish guy that I have met makes that same expression, even my finnish teacher (without that mitäs vittua part, at least in front of the audience...but maybe in privacy of his own home) However, not that many girlies do that. The picture also shows that a finnish guy should hold a glass or a bottle in his hand, which is usually almost empty! QUICK COURSE: Mikä sinun nimesi on? - What is your name? Minun nimeni on x. - My name is x. Missä sinä asut? - Where do you live? Mistä sinä olet kotoisin? - Where are you from? Kuinka vanha sinä olet? - How old are you? Minä olen x vuotta vanha. - I am x years old Kiitos. - Thank you. Ole hyvä. - You are welcome. Here you are. Anteeksi. - I'm sorry. Excuse me. Ei se mitään! - No problem! Kippis! - Cheers! (drinking toast) |
PART ONE In my opinion, everybody needs a bearded guy around. I am a happy camper since I have two of those...and two more which are bearded occasionally. I hang with those guys since we were kids, but they did not wear beards then. However, since they proudly wear it, they are nothing but success. They improved in every possible way, although they were not for trash before, also. (I do not hang out with fools, pa nisam ja budala!) There just has to be something magic (is it?) about those beards (and mullets)!!! Bearded guy is: calm in crisis, caring, protective, goes along with someone else's stupidity (occasionally mine) even if he's aware of one happening, he strongly speaks his mind, he takes the blame, does not hate, understands and finds excusses for twised brains, always polite and gentleman and also very manly. But careful, if you need a bearded friend then you must not be romanticaly envolved....because this is a post about bearded friends and not about bearded boyfriend(s). Maybe one day I will write a post about that...one never knows! |
PART TWO This is still the same post but I will add a very important subject: a mullet. The speciment on the picture has all the qualities as the speciamet above. This one is leaving often to spend good invested educational time in Portual. I am very proud, btw! Just now, while I am writing this, he is having a killer time somewhere in some beach far far away. He is a good example of a good bearded guy, also growing a mullet and with his appearance he wins all the women's hearts! Way to go and hats off! Advice for all of you, but in non-romantic way: GUYS: Start growing beards (and mullets if you want to gain all that qualities written above)! GIRLIES: Find yourself a good and solid bearded guy! |
As I wrote two posts about cover bands, but this moning I was reminded that I forgot a very important one. The most famous finnish cover band is Eläkeläiset (pensioners, senior citizens)that plays mainly cover versions of famous pop and rock hits in a fast humppa or slow jenkka style with Finnish lyrics — the original songs are barely recognizable. They also publish bootleg recordings of their own concerts. Every song title until the album "Werbung, Baby!" contained either "Humppa", "Polkka" or "Jenkka". Eläkeläiset is known amoung those who enjoy great amounts of alcohol and are not afraid to show some serious dance moves...Finnish style. Humppa is a type of music from Finland. It is related to jazz and very fast foxtrot, played two beats to a bar. Typical speed is about 250 to 280 beats per minute. Humppa is also the name of a few social dances danced to humppa music. Few hits: Heil humppa is a cover of "Kids in America" (Kim Wilde) Hullun jenkka is a cover of "Paranoid" (Black Sabbath) Humppaa suomesta is a cover of "Living in America" (The Sounds) Humppaa tai kuole! is a cover of "No Limits" (2 Unlimited) Humppamaratooni is a cover of "Whisky in the Jar" (Thin Lizzy) Humppasinfonia is a cover of "Symphony of Destruction" (Megadeth) Päivätanssit is a cover of "Domino Dancing" (Pet Shop Boys) Panojenkka is a cover of "Macarena" (Los Del Rio) official Eläkeläiset web site: http://www.humppa.com/index_eng.php |
This post is about bands that cover songs and actually do not ruin them. There are few bands that even make them better! Crappy love songs that young girlies and their mothers like, make many people puke. Those songs often do not have real meaning but they sure make double impact on people: 1. if you hear the song, dislike the music and think that the singer is overdoing it with emo then you just turn your eyes around and say: joj daj saatana! 2. if you feel bad/love sick/a little drunk even, and you hear same kind of song, for some strange reason you see yourself as a main caracter of that sad love story that someone is singing about! At that moment it does not matter if the song is horrendously lame…you just feel their pain! |
There are some great bands and singers that take the lame part of songs away from the original but the song still does not lose its meaning and it's more fun. Me First And The Gimme Gimmies made many many great covers of all kinds of performers: “Hello“ (Lionel Richie), “Don't let the sun go down on me“ (Elton John), “Hats off to Larry“ (Dan Shannon) and “500 Miles“ (Proclaimers). http://www.gimmegimmes.com/ MxPx also has great covers of “Take on me“ (A ha), “Summer of 69“ (Bryan Adams), “You found me“ (Kelly Clarkson) and “You put this love in my heart“ (Keith Green). http://wwwpx.com/ There is a fantastic swingin' lounge singer called Richard Cheese who makes covers that are just unforgettable, like: “Smells like teen spirit“ (Nirvana), “Come out and play“ (Offspring), “Holiday in Cambodia“ (Dead Kennedys) and “Creep“ (Radiohead). http://www.iloverichardcheese.com/ NoFX made some pretty good covers too, like: “All of me“ by Billie Holiday originally. I like the NoFx cover very much but Billie knew what she was doing while singing that song, hats off! Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra (who also covered that song) were singing it with emo for all the lovesick people, and it goes like this: All of me Why not take all of me? Can't you see I'm no good without you? Take my arms I want to lose them Take my lips I'll never use them. Your goodbye left me with eyes that cry How can I go on dear, without you? You took the part that once was my heart So why not take all of me? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billie_Holiday http://www.nofxofficialwebsite.com/ And last but not least: the great Croatian cover band called Crybabies with their splendid covers of “There is a light that never goes out“ (The Smiths), “Candy“ (Iggy Pop), “Tainted love“ (Soft Cell) and also many many great covers of Balcanian (ex Yu) songs. http://www.crybabies.tv/ |
...that is the occasion to put another Napoleon Dynamite quote...I will stop soon with Napoleon's quotes, promise... If they bore you, then just see the movie already and I promise that those quotes will not be boring anymore (or less)! Rex: "I'm Rex, founder of the Rex Kwon Do Self-Defense Sysetem. After one week with me in my dojo, you'lle be prepared to defend yourself with the strength of a grizzly, the reflexes of a puma, and the wisdom of a man. Come down today for your free trial lesson!" Rex: "My name is Rex, and if you study with my eight-week program you will learn a system of self-defense that I developed over two seasons of fighting in the Octagon. It's called Rex Kwon Do!" Rex: "Bow to your sensei. Bow to your sensei!" Rex: "Now, watch this, everybody. Grab my arm. The other arm. My other arm. Okay, now watch this. I'm just gonna break the wrist and walk away. Break the wrist, walk away." Kip: "Geez!" Rex: "Okay, it was just that simple." Rex: "Now, I want you to kick me. Come on, kick me. (he counters) Okay, do it again. (he counters) Do it again. (he counters and hits him on the head)" Kip: "Ouch." Rex: "Okay. You'll block it everytime. Have a seat." Rex: "Rex Kwon Do, we use the buddy system. No more flying solo. You need somebody watching your back at all times!" Rex: "You're going to learn to dicipline your image. You think I got where I am today because I dressed like Peter Pan here? (he points at Napoleon) Take a look at what I'm wearing people. You think anyone wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys? Forget about it." Rex: "My students will leard about self-respect. Do you think anybody thinks I'm a failure because I go home to Starla at night? Forget about it." Rex: "Now, for only $300 you can sign up right now for my eight-week program." Kip: "Well, that place was a rip-off." |
My family is not big...I probably will not be spending too much money on a wedding and I probably will not be needing to have big arguments with family members over real estate... From this point of view it is a good thing...Still, it is not so nice while growing up, especially when most of the family you have live all over Europe and come to Zagreb once a year if not less. But then again, that also has its adventages: you are able to travel around, visit them and learn languages... When you look at it, all in all it is not bad at all! My cousin came to Zagreb from CH and stayed only one night. Here, again, I have a situation where I have never seen her younger child until yesterday. Well, here it is not completely my fault, I will blame it on "longa distanza". However, she came with husband and kids and we sure spent some lovely quality time together. Normally, people dislike reading and hearing about kids being cute and polite unless it is about their own children...but here I just have to add that children sooo cute and polite as my cousin's are not seen that often. |
I can see that my Napoeon Dynamite quotes are appreciated (I also appreiciate when I get them back, Emo), so here is another one: Deb: "What are you drawing?" Napoleon: "A liger." Deb: "What's a liger?" Napoleon: "It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed. Bred for it's skills in magic." |
This post is inspired by girlies who take action. Actually...by all the people who take action. I just said ˝girlies˝ since I know few who took some serious and dangerous action in the last few days. This subject automatically makes me think of that new comertial we have on TV..."hands up for the guy that leaves work before his boss!" "hands up for the girl who is not waiting to be asked out, she asks herself" etc. There are various ways of taking action and I admire all of them since I am not an take-action-girl myself. I am just waiting to see what happens. I sometimes give a little shove but making decisions that have real meaning is just not my thing. One of the girlies I know, prepared a serious speach knowing that it will bring pretty painful consequences but she went through with it! Svaka čast!!!! There is no best time for bad things so if you have something on your mind, it's best to spit it out! By keeping it, you are killing yourself because you think you are saving others, what might not be true. I give so good advices, too bad I never listen to them. Just for the record, so people close to me would know: I am not preparing any speaches...luckily for me, right now I do not have to take any action! |
While sitting here at work, l am intensively thinking of a thuesday (two days ago) when I went to a little excursion with my friends. It was a non-working day, a national holiday so we got out from the city for a while. It was not an exploring-new-horizonts excursion, it was more like spending time with dear friends, relaxing and having fun. My friend Sanja has a sweet little wooden house (with read hearts on the windows) outside of town, a creek and no mobile signal...even if you wanted to, you could not be bothered by the civilisation! Of course, we grabbed our chance to eat some serious meat and to drink some serious beer/wine/wather/whatever... All that made me forget about my working days (not that my working days are especially hard...I am saving the planet, but slowly!) It is really important for a working person to go out of town for few hours at least once a week...just to grab a feeling that you do not HAVE TO go anywhere for a while or call anyone or do anything. Heavenly! |
Sanjica, I am on your side!! AJNGEMAHTES (nom.mn. ajngemahtesi) reg. razg. ujušak, umokac *njem. EIGEMACHTES PERKELT (nom.mn. perkelti) kulin. jelo od isjeckanog mesa sa začnima u umaku; paprikaš *mađ. PÖRKÖLT Vladimir Anić, Ivo Goldstein, Novi LIber, 1999. i 2000. The Sound Of Music is on TV. That is the movie of my early days. When I was a little girlie, I used to watch this movie with my Ma, at least once a week. Those were the days...It was a bit insane but then we switched to Fra Diavolo. Anyway, The Sound Of Music has left its scars and a song that is often playing in my ears...luckily Me First and The Gimme Gimmies covered that song in speed version...it is called: My Favorite Things and here are the lyrics... Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens Brown paper packages tied up with strings These are a few of my favorite things Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings These are a few of my favorite things Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes Silver white winters that melt into springs These are a few of my favorite things When the dog bites When the bee stings When I'm feeling sad I simply remember my favorite things And then I don't feel so bad |
When I was woking hard for the money today (still have not transfered to another place) I recieved a sms from Vitold. It said: "Can you count?" I texted him back and wrote: "Of course!" And then he replied: "Good, you will be a grandma, count on it!" Vitold was out on NASIP and he took both dogs with him. Vilma and Anuk had a real romantic moment there today. Vitold said that it all happened in a second and when he came it was already too late. I have been stressing over it whole day...and then I went to the dogdoc. They told me I have few options: or she is not pregnant, or she'll get sterilised or we'll have little doggies. At first I was sure that I it is imposible for me to have little doggies since I am working from 8 to 17 everyday till the end of my sad sad trainee period, but after I spoke with the doctor...it became an option. This could be really good for Vilma...Anuk is the same kind of a doggy so there probably will not be that much problems with finding people who want little vizslas. The doctor said that it is not a mission impossible to have doggies while working...I do not have to be around them all the time. Hm.... I have 25 more days to decide. I would like to have doggies but life would be easier if I didn't. I told the news to my grandpa, he is not too happy but is not strongly against it either. It all will not be taking place in our house so he has nothing to worry about. I have said to dad...he reacted pretty much the same way as grandpa but he'll come around cuz he adores dogs. But mother...she never stops to amaze me! Why would one make such a big deal out of something one does not have any connection with. I love my ma, but there are some things I wish I have not inheritted. Anyway, Anuk has won the battle...many of them tried, but he's the only one who succeded. He got the woman!! I feel so sorry for the poor guy that sleeps in front of my house waiting for Vilma for pretty much a week now. That is love... |
The word 'girlfriends' that I wrote above is very important to this subject since someone like me is writing about it. Well, two years ago I did not really have any female friends. I grew up with some (now bearded) guys and I have always coped better with boys. I still do but I have found some girlies that I love so very much. Barbara (Paris Hilton) came to train to the club where I was training at the time. I liked her right away and we became best friends. Later, she introduced me to her friends Sanja and Emica. We were hanging out together a lot since we had no too serious engagement at the time....we still don't have...except Barbara. They are all real working girlies. Barbara works in a bank and studies politics, Sanjica is a severe teacher, and my bejbe Emica rocks those bags and works haaaaaaard for the money! I always feel EMO on sunday and I have to say that I am lucky to know you dear girlies! D: Did you say something about my mom? You wanna die Napoleon? N: Yeah, right! Who is the only one here who knows the illegal ninja moves from the Government? |
It is my last working day in the office where I worked as a replacement. At the begining it was owful, I thought that I would die from all those faxes, phones, people, computer.... I was trying to go with the flow with all that phone transfering and having at least 4 phone books open at all time where I was constantly searching for some phone number in panic. Now the situation is different, although I would not want to stay here, I am glad that I have seen how this works. ....and I flip those phones like there's no tomorrow! I must admit it is pretty stressing and I admire women that do it everyday (especially if they have two bosses and the whole office depends on them....I am talking about the lady with a nice handwriting). Also, I am glad that I saw that some things actually work in the system and that there are people you can turn to when you have a problem of any kind in this city. Before I just thought they would not give you the time of day. Luckily for all of us, some of them give their best to help. Still, I have a problem with an old guy that comes often to appointments, reads newspaper while waiting and makes me INSANE with the way he chews his gum soooooo loudly!! All in all, for a trainee of 16 months, this was a good introduction. This way I have met most of the people in the office...but it is time to go back to my old department and nice people that work there. click on the pic to see the official site of Napoleon Dynamite...the movie that has scarred my life for good! Who is Mr. Darcy really? Don't we all look for one? How can you tell who is a Darcy? What does it take to be a Darcy? What if you look for Mr. Darcy and then you find out that he does not really exist? What if you already have a Darcy and you do not even realise? What if you find one like Darcy and then you just get disappointed because he is like every other guy...those damn mortals! And what if you find a Darcy that has all it takes to be one, but he just does not see Elizabeth Bennet in you? B.Ennet and all the other interested girlies: this subject is open for discussion click on the pic to see Colin Firth's official web site |
Is it not silly that at my age of 27 I still fall for Glenn Danzig? I mean, come on!!! The guy is something like 50, he is short, hairy, with an attitude and a style of a satan worshipper (joj daj saatana) and his style is based to attract juvenal girlies with his deep voice. But; yesterday evening when I went to set my alarm clock(s) so I would not be late for work this morning, on radio 101 I could hear Danzig's live album "how the gods kill" playing. I was so very pleased when I heard it...I remembered the old days when I was one of those juvenal girlies. I adore Misfits and also I have found my greatest love on a Misfits' concert (well, my greatest love has found me). The public opinion on Misfits is that they are "cool" and Glenn is not that cool any more, but Glenn....your charms still work for me!! Svaka čast! Glenn Danzig (born Glenn Allen Anzalone on June 23, 1955 [1] in Lodi, New Jersey, USA) is an accomplished singer and musician, and the creative force behind The Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. He is one of the most influential individuals in dark rock music. He is perhaps best known for his crooning vocal style, which borrows from a mix of Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, and Jim Morrison. His career spans nearly thirty years and encompasses a multitude of musical genres - from punk rock, to heavy metal, to blues, to industrial, and classical. He is a much maligned figure due to his flirtations with the Satanic and his abrasive persona. Glenn is also a determined weightlifter, comic book publisher and a collector of rare Japanese toys. He is also a certified teacher of Jeet Kune Do, a Martial art he began studying in 1992 after training in the style of Muay Thai. He was taught Jeet Kune Do by Jerry Poteet, one of Bruce Lee's five original students. click on Mišo!! |
Since I have started working I am not that happy about dog walking as I was before. After 8 hours of work I rarely feel like going to the woods. This is not good for Vilma and Anuk and it is most definitely not good for me. Luckily I have my friend Vitold (Anuk's boss/owner) who makes me go even if I do not want to!Well, we youngsters must obey older people. click on the pic to see the site of Vitold's band |
This post is inspired by a birthday of one of my oldest friends. The birthday is in few days. That girl was well known because of her cattle garding (it is a bad translation of her nick name in Croatian) but now she is known because she works so hard on expending her own family. The reason I am writing this is because I feel so f...... guilty! She had not only one baby but two, and I still have not seen any, because something always gets in the way when I plan to visit her, or I am just lame. I feel sooo guilty that I even feel bad calling her, but then I still do it because (if nothing else) I am trying to be polite. I will work hard on making wrooooong right! Anyway, Pastirice, sretan ti rođendan! |
I have been chatting a bit with my dear finnish friend Kalle today. Sunday is normally the finnish nanbudo fedaration's training day and since today is sunday I have to pay my respects.......and I have quite an amount of it!! If I have not said already, I think I did, thank you Kalle for being so good to me while I was staying in Turku....and you can only hope that I will not be coming again! click on the pic for suomen nanbudo liitto official page |
I finally came across that AOS 3 CD. I sooo love those guys!!! Music is such a strange thing, is it not? Sometimes a song makes my life flash before my eyes...it is like I have a sound scenery no matter what I do. Familiar feeling? |
Nikako da riješim to teško pitanje pixela i byteova. |
