I was reading over some of my old notes from college today, and getting back into issues I'd forgotten... It's that odd feeling of discovery mixed with nostalga. Class notes written hurredly in black ink, spelling out the details of Augustine, Cicero, and Pascal... Then there are my personal answers to their questions, and my questions to their answers, written over the notes in contrasting colors. Chances are, I was sitting in Cup-A-Joe, smoking a clove ciggarette, and drinking coffee at the time. The odd thing is that some of those issues still bother me- the nature of man and the limits of determinism, for example. Others I either don't care about anymore, or I've answed the questions, and now it almost seems silly that I cared about them so much- Does free will exist? What is the meaning behind the Gospel of Thomas? Why is Gnosticism important? What's Eating Gilbert Grape? It makes me wonder what my life will be like in five years, and what I will have discarded by then. I need to go on a voyage of self-discovery. Ideally this voyage would take me to warm, sunny, tropical beaches and interesting parts of the world via first-class air fare. I'm currently seeking financial backing for said vayage, inquires are welcome.
