Sly & The Family Stone – Anthology (1981)
Anthology essentially replicates the previous collection Greatest Hits and adds singles from There’s a Riot Goin’ On and Fresh to the end of the album. Where Greatest Hits didn’t follow chronological order, Anthology presents every single in the order it was released — and, with the exception of the latter-day singles and the inclusion of “Don’t Call Me Nigger, Whitey,” that is the major difference between the two collections. Anthology goes for a sweeping, definitive overview, while Greatest Hits is a brief blast of 12 of the finest singles of the rock & roll era. Either compilation functions as an excellent introduction, but Anthology is more comprehensive, giving it the edge as a first purchase. (Stephen Thomas Erlewine, AMG)

VA - Gilles Peterson Brazilika (2009)

Genre: Latin | Brazil music | Nu Jazz
Quality: MP3 VBR V2 kbps 44khz Stereo
Playtime: 72:35 min

2009 compilation compiled by world renowned DJ Gilles Peterson, including five exclusive unreleased tracks. Taking it back to the old school and presenting Brazil's best new talent, Brazilika IV seamlessly mixes through Far Out's wide ranging styles. A close friend to Joe Davis for 25 years, Gilles Peterson has been a constant supporter of Joe's original and best UK based Brazilian record label. The pair released the original Brazilika compilation on Gilles' Talking Loud label 15 years ago and now they go full circle with the fourth installment in Far Out's Brazilika series, following block party mixes from Kenny Dope, 4 Hero and Andy Votel. Brazilian music aficionado Peterson introduced a new generation to the cream of Brazil's Bossa and post-Bossa artists and here expertly blends the cream of the timeless (Ipanemas, Grupo Batuque, Azymuth and Arthur Verocai) with the new breed (Clara Moreno, Binario and Zeep) from Far Out's monumental catalog.
