 Pigbag - Favourite Things ( 83 ^ 99mb) Pigbag was started by Chris Hamlyn in Cheltenham in late 1980. He recruited multi-instrumentalist Roger Freeman, along with Chris Lee (trumpet) and James Johnstone (guitar / alto sax). Later Drew "Chip" Carpenter (drums) and Mark Smith (bass) both old school mates of James and former members of his previous band Hardware, were recruited for informal rehearsals.Simon Underwood, previously of The Pop Group was invited to join, along with his old friend and tenor sax player Ollie Moore. Simon's connections with manager Dick O'Dell landed their first gig, supporting The Slits at Bristol's Romeo and Juliets. Based on the crowd's enthusiastic response to a 20 minute performance of their first song, O'Dell invited them to record the track for his label Y Records the very next day. Their first single, "Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag", was released in 1981 on Dick O'Dell's Y Records, taking inspiration for the title (if not the music) from James Brown's "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag".  BANCO DE GAIA - LAST TRAIN TO LHASA (1995) - 320 KBPS Some people label electronica and music in this genre as soulless, but this is definitely not a claim that can be given to this album. It was recorded in response to the Chinese government's decision to build a mammoth railway into the heart of Tibet's capital, Lhasa (see the CD inlay for more info. It is quietly powerful, both politically and musically, and features some haunting and beautiful eastern vocal and instrumental samples. Last Train to Lhasa lends itself equally as well to background chillout music as it does to being listened to in its own right. There are no obvious weak tracks, instead many mighty fine ones! The epic 36 minute long "Kincajou (duck! asteroid)" is perfect for contemplative chillout, "China (clouds not mountains)" is quietly funky, "White Paint" quickly builds up out of the previous track, "Kincajou", into something not far short of genius and goes on to become the brilliant "887 (structure)", which has some excellent sampled vocals and superb eastern-influenced instumentation, which all add to the political 'sub-plot' of this album. "Last Train To Lhasa" is has an immensly catchy beat and some chants which make it infectious! And the understated "Eagle (small steppa mix)" is an excellent wind-down track to the album. Whilst it is not as uptempo as say "The Magical Sounds of Banco de Gaia", nor is it as soft and brooding as "Big Men Cry", it is no worse off for this! The tracks are beautifully mixed together into a cohesive, reflective, multi-faceted album, which despite being 13 years old has not aged much at all, unlike many albums of this genre and era. CD1 1. JEFF BUCKLEY - Live At The Bataclan 1995
 Jeff Buckley, Tim's son, was one of the greatest pop songwriter/singer in the 90s. Unfortunately, he passed away early in his career. Only one official CD, Grace, which is on of the best CD of that decade. Another great CD, posthumous this one, was out a couple of year after his death. Beside, numerous live CDs were out as the Live At Sn-é (expanded not long before as a DeLuxe edition) or the Live At The Olympia (with a cover from Kick Out The Jams of the MC5 and a pastiche of Kashmir from Led Zeppelin).This, is a very short one (only 4 songs but nearly half an hour) that was recorded for the radio France Inter. Very nice because of Jeff's love of France, and overall his love of Edith Piaf that he covers here (great moment). Another cover available here is Hallelujah from Leonard Cohen (also available on Grace) and one other from Van Morrison : The Way Young Lovers Do. A highlight in Jeff's career. Tracklist : 1. Tajni i(n)dentitet.” Sećate li se ove replike druga Klaje iz najšarmantnijeg domaćeg filma? E pa na tu kartu misterioznosti, (svojevremeno su je uspešno kreirali i eksploatisali The Residents) igra i londonski producent skriven pod pseudonimom Berial (Burial) koji je krajem prošle godine zasluženo pokupio unisone hvalospeve, ne samo publikacija specijalizovanih za elektronsku muziku, već i većine magazina alternativnog pop-rok profila. Ko je, dođavola, taj Berial? Ako krenete da rovarite po internetu u potrazi za informacijama, nećete se baš ovajditi. Berial ne nastupa, ne slika se, skoro nikad ne daje intervjue i tvrdi da svega nekolicina ljudi iz njegovog okruženja zna da se bavi muzikom. Svakako da pribegavanje misterioznosti intrigira, ali daleko od toga da se ovde radi o manipulaciji bez pokrića. Prva spadam u osobe koja elektronsku muziku uglavnom doživljava kao beskrvnu, bezosećajnu, ponekad mentalno iscrpljujuću. Šta, dakle, nekome ko nije verziran u mikro promene i devijacije u domenu elektronske muzike znači još jedan njen novi derivat - dabstep, osim da ovaj podžanr u Berialu dobija svog potencijalnog kandidata za ufur u glavni tok? I kako je ova sumorna muzika uspela da zapadne za uvo mnogima, kad Berijalovo oružje nije ni hitična, ni klupska, već pre after-parti muzika, koja je nastala i sluša se u samoći noći, u noćnom busu, kolima? Možda je tajna u začuđujućem spoju emotivnosti, atmosferičnosti, urbane paranoje i izolacije. Berial transponuje posustali trip-hop i džangl žanr u 21. vek – jednolična bit matrica i potmuli, dab ritam basa preko kojih su razliveni vokalni semplovi u vidu iskidanih rečenice koje lebde u vazduhu, zvuci radio stanica koje se mešaju, arsenal raznih šumova poput krckanja starih ploča i prelepljenih traka, pucketanja vatre, padanja kiše. Untrue je mutirani zvučni mozaik pospanih blokova zgrada pritisnutih maglom, pustih parkinga oko šoping molova, treperavog uličnog osvetljenja, mokrih ulica, mračnih haustora i prljavštine velegrada, koliko i zvezdanih putovanja s onu stranu sna i svesti. Mada album najbolje funkcioniše u komadu (danas redak kvalitet), pojedinačnih sjajnih pesama ima pregršt: eterični umeci In McDonalds, Endorphin, Dog Shelter i UK, lišeni ritma, sa čudno pulsirajućim klavijaturama i lelulajavim ženskim glasovima u "4AD" tradiciji, smenjuju se sa bržim pesmama ne dozvoljavajući da se one pretope u jednu, dajući albumu dinamiku, a istovremeno odmarajući slušaoce. Ponekad su vokalni fragmenti tako ukrojeni da stvaraju smislenu narativnu celinu, kao u potencijalnom klupskom hitu Archangel ili naslovnoj Untrue, koja se približava konceptu klasične srceparajuće pop pesme, stihovima “Girl/ It's the way I feel inside/ And it’s all, because you lied” dok je muzička matrica nabijena atmosferom nadolazeće oluje. Koliko god se trudili da opišete muziku Beriala neće vam uspeti. Ona ima uzbudljivo, mračno, opčinjavajuće, sedativno i nadasve zavisničko dejstvo. "Sun Ra's career-long committment to his Arkestra allowed the pianist and bandleader little time for the elaboration of less populous projects. There were brief, tantalising glimpses, however, into his small group concept-including a rash of recordings made in the mid 1970s. There are, for instance, two great double-LPs of quartet music, tenor saxophonist John Gilmore gloriously forward, made for the Italian Horo label in 1978. A year prior, a stripped-down group made a set of studio recordings focused on standard jazz songbook material, as well as some original music by Ra, that was issued on Saturn as SOME BLUES BUT NOT THE KIND THATS BLUE. As a special treat, to augment this extremely rare Saturn LP and show how Ra developed the idea for one of his arrangements, two alternative versions of the poignant "I'll Get By" are included- taken from a session slated May 3, 1973 by Gilmore. Skwee is a musical style, from the Nordic countries of Sweden and Finland. Skweee combines simple lo-fi synth leads and basslines with funk, hip-hop r'n'b or soul-like rhythms, overall rendering a stripped-down lofi funky that reminds of Clear records output, the music of John Carpenter or the minimal funk of Grime. The tracks are mostly entirely instrumental, though there are exceptions. The producers are both newcomers and old, experienced producers from the Scandinavian Electro and electronica environment and the music on this compilation reflects a varied and rather fun take on electric funk, rendering the music round and rubbery, fresh and good. The Synthetik Skandinavian Funk, or Skweee music, obviously origins from Scandinavia - less obvious is its creator - Pavan - also known as Frans Carlqvist. He's the founder of the small independent label Flogsta Danshall that focuses on this type of music. Recently a new Skweee-label popped up in Finland, called Harmönia.
