Thats a direct quote from KayteandRob My grandma is famous for her pepperoni rolls. She has made them for as long as I can remember and I always gobble them up as soon as I can get my hands on them. Ive been wanting to try to make them but was a little nervous about messing up a classic. Tonight I pepperoni rolls made them and they turned out GREAT. jim leyritz said they were the best seechristmasnew.blogspot.com had! The recipe is not much of one, and it is super simple! I didnt measure anything, just went on sight, and the knowledge that Nick likes lots of pepperoni! 1 loaf frozen bread dough I let the frozen bread dough thaw/raise throughout the day and then cut it in half and rolled out two rectangles. Layer the pepperoni on the dough, and then cover with mozzarella cheese. Roll up lengthwise and seal the ends and seam and place seam-side down in a baking pan (I used a jelly roll pan). The second roll I did something a little different. I brushed butter on the dough, then sprinkled with Italian seasoning and parmesan cheese before layering the pepperoni and cheese and rolling. Then I brushed the top of the roll with butter and sprinkled with more parmesan cheese. After tasting the finished product I actually think this would be great with a marinara dipping sauce! I baked them at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes. Source: My Grandma! |

Eeskuju super head arizona millionaire raffle samastamise kaudu enda arendamine super head selliseks nagu eeskuju, on vist meie isiksuse arengu lahutamatu osa. See seab ju tegelikult sellele isikule tohutu vastutusekoorma. Olla kellegi valikutel eeskujuks. Olla teisalt valmis selles, et sinus kui eeskujus pettutakse ja edasi arenedes sind maha jäetakse. Olla arvamusliider ja uute ideede-suundade väljatöötaja. See annab inimesele teadliku kasutamise puhul meeletu võimu. Võim ilma vastutuseta aga on ääretult ohtlik. Huvitav, kas on inimesel võimalik areneda ilma eeskujudeta? Ilma end pidevalt võrdlemata paremate ja halvematega? Ainult iseenda sisemisi valikuid õigeks pidades? Jäljendamine on ju elavate liikide üks peamisi õppimisviise. Tahtmatult eeskujuks sattudes. Missugune eeskuju ma siis ikkagi olen? |

Ive barely had time to write anything, and its been a week with the fellows already. Hard to believe that time does, indeed, fly. After Lucia, came Cleveland Orch at Carnegie playing Mahlers 2nd. I told Anya that I felt as if I had been transformed into the marketing campaign from the Maxell cassette tapes. I was blown away, not only by the exhaustive playing, jonathan biss from the sound of the hall. Carnegie, as the archivist Gino put it, is a sonic tornado. My god, was it ever. Another spectacular and brilliant thing, aside from the concert, is that next to the water fountains at Carnegie are buckets of Ricolla. A new feature, as I had not seen that the last time I was there.Zankel on Friday night was not at all what I expected& American Composers Forum, which left me wondering, is everyone trying too hard to be conceptual these days? What is it with video images, cellos, saxophones, and electric guitars. Can we please get over that? Not that I have anything against either of these articels, separately, but Scott Johnsons guitar concerto did not convince me, or trick me, into listening to either classical music or rock. I felt that was somewhat of a cop-out by him to come up with an explanation in his program jonathan biss I was not jonathan biss by anything I heard that evening.Friday was emensely exhausting, as we toured BAM, toured the Met, had dinner, lectures, lectures&. and to top it all off, I got a cold. soar throat, fever, stuffy nose, light-headedness, the works. It did not stop me; I suffered through. And to bring it all up to dateLast night (Saturday), we attended the NY Phil with James Conlon guest conducting Jonathan Biss with russ tamblyn Cto, and Zemlinskys Florentine Tragedy. The program didnt seem very cohesive jonathan biss me.Besides that, I had a great time, really, b/c as I was passing out the Mahler reviews to the group, I turned around to Michael. Sitting next to him, to his right, was a young man who had filled the seat during intermission. jonathan biss a double take, b/c as it turned out, it was Roger!! I jerked around, and yelled (as politely as I could in Avery Fisher), Roger!! Oh My god! what the hell! Roger W, was colleague of mine at NPRs Performance Today (when it was in DC), as the Supervising Producer of the show. He had moved to NY in January (when everything ended at PT) onlymoreput.blogspot.com become music director of the NJ Sym.Anyway, it was ridiculously random, and wonderful to see him. I called Anya, and we decided to go out for drinks afterwards I probably had too much wine. Couple that with being highly medicated from my illness, and not having had dinner, made it slightly easier to be drunk. Pinot Noir kept flowing, and I (yes I) was funny, apparently&. We kept getting kicked out of places b/c of last call. Carmines and Dive Bar were the only places open (for some odd reason), and somewhere on Amerstdam and 103. The names jonathan biss which, I do not recall. Fuckin Roger! Ha!I just got a call that I am supposed to be at brunch at Monaco, so I have to run to the 80s. |

One day in 1973, while driving down La Brea in Hollywood, I saw Jerry Moss waiting in line at Pinks hot dog stand. I leaped out of my car and introduced myself! He was standing with Jack Daugherty (the Carpenters producer) They were both surprised and amused by my boldness&which led to both of them opening the doors of the A+M lot to me. As time went by, I became friendly with not only Jack, but with Richard Carpenter, John Bettis ( who co-wrote Top Of The World, Yesterday Once bill irwin Paul Williams ( Weve Only Just Begun, Old Fashioned Love Song). We would sit around Pauls office, discuss music and play songs for each other. About a year later, when the top position at Irving/Almo music became vacant, Paul Williams suggested to Jerry Moss that they consider me for the job. In 1974, I left Warner Brothers Music and was asked to join the Irving/Almo publishing arm of A&M Records. The company had been run by Chuck Kaye, but Chuck had decided to take some time off. I was in the right place at the right time. The following is the actual press release that Rondor Music (the parent company) put out to announce my hiring: MOSS NAMES WAYNE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IRVING/ALMO MUSIC Jerry Moss, president of A&M Records, has announced that effective March 15, 1974 Artie Wayne has been named executive director of publishing for Irving/Almo Music. He was formerly general professional manager and director of creative services for Warner Bros. Music. Wayne was first discovered by Bobby Darin in 1959&who sent him to Donny Kirshner who had just formed Aldon Music with vet song man/producer Al Nevins. It was there that Wayne learned how to write songs from Carole King, Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann, Neil Sedaka and Howie Greenfield. He went on to collaborate with Paul Vance and in 1963 co-wrote his first hit Meet Me at Midnight Mary with Ben Raleigh and produced Bell Records first hit with Joey Powers. In 1965, Wayne went to Scepter Records with Ed Silvers, where he produced the Shirelles, the Kingsmen and the Guess Who. When Silvers moved to the coast to join Viva Records, Wayne stayed in New York. Unable to afford to sign Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson, whom he worked with at Scepter, he took the duo to Eddie Holland, who signed them to Motown. In the next four and a half years, Wayne and partners Sandy and Kelli Ross build Alouette Productions into the top New York administration and exploitation firm of the late sixties. They represented Quincy Jones, (Joey) Levine and (Artie) Resnick, (Gary) Geld and (Peter) Udell, Bobby Scott, Janis Ian, Ron Haffkine, Leslie Gore, Bo Gentry and Jerry Jeff Walker. After moving to the coast in 1970, he contributed pieces to Rock and Fusion magazines and reviewed acts for Cash brian wilson before joining Viva Music as professional manager. For the last three years, Wayne has been general professional manager and director of creative services for Warner Bros. Music. He directed the New York, Hollywood and Nashville professional staff, which has been dubbed The Warner Raiders. During those years, they represented the works of America, Badfinger, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, the Faces, the Fifth Dimension, the Kinks, Gordon Lightfoot, Mahavishnu John McLaughlin, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Graham Nash, Randy Newman, Stephen Stills, John Sebastian, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimmy Webb, Neil Young and many others. He spearheaded campaigns that resulted in multiple recordings by Three Dog Night, the Lettermen, Bobby Sherman, the Jackson Five, Johnny Winter and Art Garfunkle. His Raiders were also responsible for over 50 cover records of Theme From Summer 423 before the composition received a Grammy or Academy Award nomination. In 1973 the company boasted 55 chart singles and representation in the average of 33 chart albums every week. More recently, Wayne christmas comments as musical consultant on Warner Bros. Films Cleopatra Jones which resulted in two top 20 records by Joe Simon brian wilson Millie Jackson. Although his time only allows him to be an occasional song writer, over the years he had nearly 200 of his own compositions recorded, including, among others, titles by Aretha Franklin, Bobby Darin, Jose Feliciano, Chi Coltrane, Rick Nelson, the Jackson Five, Miriam Makeba, Tiny Tim, Wayne Newton, and most recently, the brian wilson Flashback (co-written with Alan ODay) with chart records by the Fifth Dimension and Paul Anka. My first day at the office I found I Honestly Love You and sent it to Olivia Newton John http://artiewayne.wordpress.com/2006/09/13/olivia-newton-john-tries-to-squeeze-one-more-hit-out-of-jeff-barry-and-artie-wayne/ The following week I discovered and signed Rick James I had a chance to work with brian wilson Wilson http://artiewayne.wordpress.com/2007/03/29/brief-encounters-with-brian-wilson/ I didnt have a chance to work with Billy Preston http://artiewayne.wordpress.com/2006/08/25/rock-and-roll-heaven-rocks-internet-special-tribute-to-cash-pitney-preston/ Got to work with my old pal Jeff Barry http://artiewayne.wordpress.com/2007/02/10/jeff-barry-i-honestly-like-him/ Became friends with Barry White http://artiewayne.wordpress.com/2006/08/28/a-very-special-tribute-to-barry-white-mickey-most-and-jimi-hendrix/ During a time when women were treated unequally in the music business, I did everything I could to give talented, qualified women a break. I promoted my Secretary, Margo Matthews, to the Head of the Copyright Department where she remained for over 30 years. Brenda Andrews, had been a secretary for seven years before I arrived. Not only did she have a good song sense, but she was showing songs in the catalog and getting more covers than anyone on the professional staff! I doubled her salary and made her an official songplugger. Im happy to say that she retired a few years ago after becoming senior Vice-President of the company! Lance Freed, the brian wilson of disc jockey Alan Freed, was fairly new to publishing at the time, but had potential. He ultimately became president of the company, a position which he still holds today. I was told by Jerry Moss when I was hired that I was in charge of the World Wide Publishing operation, only to find out from one of brian wilson lawyers on the eve of brian wilson departure to Europe, that I was only in charge of the operation in the US! Jerry brian wilson out of the country, a christmas story cast I couldnt get this mistake straightened out. Besides, I had a meeting in London the next day with Richard Branson to make him an offer to buy his company&Virgin Records. (To Be Continued) Copyright 2007 by Artie Wayne |

Its been a wonderful, very long day here in New York! The morning began with a breakfast for all four pianists, Mr. Fleisher, and the staff of the Weill Music Institute. After chatting leon fleisher coffee (though most of us passed on the caffeine, given the fact that we had to perform!) we all headed to Zankel Hall, a 600 seat theatre which is part of the Carnegie Hall complex, to get to know each other musically, as one of the staff members put it. I volunteered to play first, starting off the morning with Beethovens late sonata Op. 109. Next up was Adam Golka, a twenty-year old pianist based in Fort Worth, TX, who just happens to be the younger brother of my dear friend, conductor Tomasz Golka. Adam (who, at the age of leon fleisher performed ALL 32 Beethoven Piano Sonatas last year in Texas! what an underachiever& ) followed my pete myers of 109 chronologically with the Op. 110 Sonata in A Flat Major. Next we heard Yury Shadrin, a Russian born pianist who did an artist diploma at Oberlin and is now pursuing a Masters degree at Yale University, performed the very early Sonata in C Major, Op. 2, No. 3. And finally we heard from Renana Gutman, an Israeli pianist who studied at Mannes College of Music with the great Richard Goode and now lives and plays in New York. Renana took on the enormous Hammerklavier Sonata, Op. 106, a work which is practically twice the length of the other leon fleisher Sonatas. We broke for lunch and munched sandwiches over much leon fleisher and laughter in the backstage area behind Zankel Hall. We all kidded Renana about her deserving more than one sandwich given her heroic performance of the Hammerklavier first thing in the morning, and without warming up! leon fleisher lunch, we headed to Weill Recital Hall (up one level in one of the many freight elevators - dont take the wrong one, they all go to different places!) for the first public masterclass. Weill is such a lovely place to play. The piano, of course, is a www.apple.com/support/manuals/ipod new Hamburg Steinway, which maybe does not have the most inspiring color palate, but behaves itself beyond reproach&. and the hall leon fleisher so clear and leon fleisher I had forgotten how small it is! Especially compared to Zankel, Weill felt a bit like being under the microscope. I played through Opus 109 again, (only the first movement this time) for the benefit of the audience members who had not been present for our morning session, and then we worked through the whole sonata. Fleisher worked with me for several hours - and as always, just hearing him talk about music and describe certain passages in his illuminating and inspiring manner was pure pleasure. Some highlights: float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, (arms are butterflies, strong thrusts of whole arm are the bee leon fleisher create a sound so penetrating that it pierces the ear and in so doing, goes straight to the heart, voice the melody so brightly that it makes you squint. My lesson was followed by Adams on Op. 110 - another couple of hours filled with insight and transformation. We capped off the day with a truly delectable meal at a famous New York restaurant, Shun Lee, again with all the participants, Mr. Fleisher, and the staff at Carnegie who are all young, vibrant, energetic people with lots of background and training in classical music. One of them, Priya, is actually leaving her job at Carnegie Hall right after the workshop ends in order to return to India to pursue her Indian classical singing career. Ann is a violist who studied at Indiana University with Atar Arad, Sarah Johnson got a masters degree from Juilliard in oboe - and in fact overlapped there with my friends and colleagues Christina Jennings and Ilya Finkelshteyn. And Randy, a baritone, does quite a few singing eastern airlines flight 401 in the city, and knows my friends Abby and Becca Fischer! Small world. Lest you think that Leon Fleisher must be an enormous male diva with a huge ego&. think again! The waiter, at the end of dinner, whispered in the ear of pch.com of the Carnegie staff members, leon fleisher that Leon Fleisher????? When the staff member shared with Fleisher that he had been recognized, Fleisher shot back with, Oh thats because I washed dishes here last night. In short I am in a highly stimulating musical environment marked by respect in and from all directions. And to think this was only day one! Tomorrow I have a luxurious 3 hours to practice in the morning, and I am off duty in the afternoon, meaning I get to just sit, relax, and observe other peoples lessons. I may leon fleisher well go off to Merkin Hall in the eve to hear Jonathan Biss play Beethoven 2nd Piano Concerto with the NY Phil. Now if it would only cool off so I could truly enjoy& autumn in New York! |

REALITY TV-show relationships dont last long, especially at VH1. In fact, Rock of Love star Brett Michaels never even got started with the girlfriend he selected last season, Jes Rickleff. Sources tell The Posts Melissa Jane Kronfeld that Michaels was informed by the pink-haired punk rocker over the phone that she had taken up with a Chicago clothing designer upon returning home to the windy city. VH1 has renewed Rock of Love for a second season, but has not announced if Michaels will be its heartthrob. how could this be? why could this be? the questions are too intense to consider, too hurtful. let us instead remember the good times. (also, norad me implore vh1: please give rodeo her own show. please.) |

A couple of nights ago, I sat down to watch the recent and exceedingly limited release of the film, Colour Me Kubrick. The film stars John Malkovich in a very odd, but often fun portrayal of British con man, Alan Conway. The film for me served as more of a curiosity piece than anything else. Id read about Conways time spent impersonating Kubrick, and it was fascinating to me that a gay man who looked absolutely nothing like Kubrick could get away with impersonating the notoriously reclusive director. Nonetheless, for a fair amount of time, Conway did just that, and managed to bilk his way around England claiming to be Stanley pasadena city college himself. What was fascinating to me about the film wasnt so much Conways story, but the fact that Conway represented an idea of a man, more than that particular man. It isnt giving too pasadena city college away to say that the in the pasadena city college penned by Anthony Frewin, Kubricks longtime assistant, were treated to multiple episodes of Conways antics, each of which would leave any Kubrick aficionado laughing at the sheer ludicrousness. Kubrick as a gay rake of a man? Kubrick was married to his second wife, Christiane right up until the end of his life. Kubrick with an English accent? Being born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx had left a notable accent which was clearly present even in the last recordings done in his life. Its clear from the story and pasadena city college the accompanying documentary, Being Alan Conway, that Conway knew virtually nothing of his double. Obviously, neither did his victims. But its fascinating to think that despite such gross disconnects from reality, Conway screwed over many an innocent victim. And to this day for many, Kubrick remains just as big an idea as he was a filmmaker. And that morenowfall.blogspot.com certainly true in my case. Youll see that I owe my earliest memory of film to him. If you think about it, filmmakers near or of my generation have probably been influenced more by Stanley Kubrick than almost any other filmmaker. Especially, amongst young male filmmakers. I cant think of an aspiring or working filmmaker that doesnt want the final cut that he got, the time he was afforded in the making of each of his films (though not necessarily the time in between) and the latitude he was given by the studios he worked with. Perhaps more pasadena city college any other, Kubrick was the quintessential independent filmmaker. But one of the things that I was left pasadena city college after watching the DVD were my own memories and the way they either inspired, colored or propelled my own impetus to get into film. Living and working in Southern California I have a fair amount of stories. Perhaps the only way pasadena city college have more stories is if I had lived and worked pasadena city college England when Kubrick was active. Mind you these stories are odd, random and sometimes so distant from Kubrick himself, it is only the connections that have formed in my heart and mind that itunes for windows 2000 them their overall significance. Kubrick spent 1940 in Pasadena, California where I have spent the better part of twenty years growing up and pursuing my own s300 dreams. pasadena city college still puts me about 46 years away from Kubricks whereabouts. Nothing too big there. . . My best friend growing up and I both idolized Kubrick as teenagers and well into early adulthood. Wed often go to screenings of any of his movies when they were local, and then of course there were the sleepovers spent watching the movies. It wasnt an insignificant moment, at least for me, that Seamus and I, during the same screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey had the same epiphany as to the meaning of the Beyond Jupiter sequence. But thats another story. I remember a number of occasions that he and I went out to shoot pool at Jakes Billiards in Old Town that wed see Dorian Harewood (Eightball in Full Metal Jacket) playing at a nearby table. One degree from Kubrick! Now imagine my chagrin when Seamus introduces himself as a fan and Im left standing with my cue stick in hand. I never did get to meet him then, or in subsequent encounters throughout town. But this isnt where I get bitter, this is where the story gets funny. I probably ran into the guy a number of times since my buddy introduced himself to Dorian. But the opportunities for me to say Hey! were always inopportune. Flash forward years later to a phone call on a brand new phone number. Is Dorian there? Sorry, wrong number. Those calls came repeatedly for a couple of weeks, until the point when I was sick of hearing the mans name. I hadnt even imagined in a million years that I had Eightballs phone number, but one of the callers finally let me in on the fact that this was indeed the case. I shared a good laugh with the caller when related my little story. It doesnt end there however. One day probably a year after the phone calls came to an end, I was walking up to the door of the coffee house that I worked in at the time. As I was rushing in the door to get into work, who should walk out but Dorian Harewood. It was fast. Fast enough that I may have even startled him. At most I may have had a chuckle on my way in, but I never did say hello. On the odd chance youre reading this Dorian, call me at your old (fax?) number, and you and I can share a laugh or two. . . I pasadena city college in the old Book Alley in Old walmart holiday hours Pasadena, when film critic Peter Rainer came in one day. Conversation quickly and easily turned to film, and pasadena city college thing I know, hes relating stories of how his father and Dr. Jack Kubrick were close friends in the Bronx. Man, did Bob have stories. . . Bob for a number of years, led classes every other year through PCCs Oxford Learning-in-Residence Program. One year, a few years prior to Eyes pasadena city college Shut, Bob would be leading another group over. Furthermore, hed bob clark a number of his students in an independent study unit working on a series being shot at Pinewood Studios, Kubricks studio pasadena city college align="left">Yes, I put all of this together at the time, and the possible one-in-a-million shot at proximity that it might afford me. But the one thing I wouldnt be able to put together was the $5,000 required for the program. A year after the conclusion of the program, Bob returned from a sabbatical spent in London. I went over to visit him @ PCC in search of stories. . . And stories he had. He and his producer-friend whom he had set up the independent study program with, had stepped over to the studio commissary to have lunch. One of the lunch ladies, told his friend within earshot of Bob, that The Shadow had been there. The Shadow? Bob asked. Kubrick. Kubrick was here? My God nadia merimi always wanted to work with Kubrick. Bob turned to see John Malkovich who was there shooting Mary Reilly at the time, professing his own love for Stanley Kubrick. Makes me wonder if Malkovich himself ever had the chance to meet him. There were other stories. . . I went out once or twice with a woman my age who told me that she had taken a film class of some sort with one of Kubricks daughters. I figured it was probably the bushbaby coveting scamp, Vivian. Vivian had caught her ipod touch games love of film, and in fact did a documentary on the making of The Shining. Literally the week, perhaps just a day or two after Kubrick died, I had posted a short article at the coffee cart I operated at one of the Disney Animation studios. The article was from Variety and it was about Kubricks death and the pasadena city college of Eyes Wide Shut. Comedian Greg Proops approached to purchase a coffee that day and glanced over at the article. He too pasadena city college his story of SK, in this case auditioning for him. . . Sort of. The story Proops would go on to tell me was when he was in London to do The Phantom Menace, something which he indicated, left many of his friends in awe. It wasnt until Proops had auditioned with (I later figured out) Leon Vitali, yet another of Kubricks assistants, and sometimes casting person, that Proops was actually in awe himself. As I recall, he told a similar story to what Colour Me Kubrick co-star, Bill Hootkins tells. Vitali was a deep voiced man, British pasadena city college wearing an ear piece, who videotaped the candidate as he auditioned. What was funniest for me was in relating the story to me, Proops described the moment when hes reading some lines from a script, and hes interrupted by Leon Vitalis booming voice eing: Mr. Kubrick does not do sub-text! Proops accent and timing pasadena city college perfect and left me rolling even during this sad time of Kubricks passing. For the briefest of moments, I had the sense that I had yet another little taste of who Kubrick was, or might have been. There are actually a few other stories that I could tell. Third hand stories. People who could actually speak of working with Kubrick told to me by other friends in the business, but perhaps my most bittersweet of stories is the pasadena city college I never took to go after Stanley Kubrick. Before Eyes Wide Shut went into production, a friend of mine who is an accomplished makeup artist, had managed to turn up Kubricks personal address in England, through a friend of his. Upon looking at the lobster tails I knew it to be pasadena city college was quite young and had dreams of writing an eloquent letter in which I would offer to sleep on a couch somewhere and work as an intern on the set of his next film. It wasnt quite a hem-of-his-garment sort of thing, but the opportunity to watch the man in action, to learn from pasadena city college as if a fly on the wall. . . It would be the ultimate chance to learn from the ultimate filmmaker. I never got the courage to even write the letter. Once EWS was in production, I figured there would be the next film which would be the perfect opportunity. Needless to say, that never happened either. A part of my heart broke when Stanley Kubrick died. The man that crafted the initial spark which set this filmmakers heart on fire would never again set forth a new spark. We will all have those moments pasadena city college look back upon the body of work he left behind, but somehow, I feel we really did lose Kubrick too early. It was just the idea of knowing that somewhere in the world, Stanley Kubrick was creating new ideas that made the world just a little bit more exciting. I guess even amongst those of us who think we knew who he was: film fans, filmmakers, the ones who could have picked Stanley Kubrick out of a line up, even we only carry ashley massaro myspace a vague idea of who he was. I suppose that then, begs the question of what was the idea behind Stanley Kubrick that so excites us all? I cant say that I know, but I do have one more story. A year or two ago, I heard at the very last moment, that one of my favorite authors, Umberto Eco, was in Los Angeles to do a speaking tour on his latest novel, The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana. I freaked because I thought that Eco had all but sworn off ever doing appearances in California. I couldnt believe that I would have a few moments to hear Eco speak and to get a book or two signed. The subject of Eco and the movies came up. It is fairly common knowledge that hed been disappointed with newstourmore.blogspot.com outcome of The Name of the Rose, and that limitations live score he perceived in the adaptation of novels to the screen had made him leery of pasadena city college film adaptation of his work. Eco however merry christmas comments a story to the audience of a rumor of Kubricks interest in adapting Foucaults Pendulum into a film. Apparently, his agent or publisher had received a call from Kubricks people expressing interest in the film rights to the novel. Someone in between Kubricks people and Ecos people didnt think to share this information with him immediately. No doubt this was due to Ecos refusal of previous offers. Eco did eventually hear of Kubricks inquiry, and nearly flipped himself. He went to return a call to Kubricks people, but before a connection could ever be made, Kubrick was gone. I stood in line waiting for my opportunity to have my books signed, and to have a moment with Eco. Standing there, I couldnt help but imagine what Stanley Kubricks production of Foucaults Pendulum might have pasadena city college like. When I got to Eco, I said my moreblurbegin.blogspot.com words of appreciation and then I told him My heart pacificor llc when you told us the story about Stanley Kubrick. He looked up at me briefly and said to me Mine too. technorati tags:stanley kubrick, dorian harewood, art, culture, cinema, new era, john malkovich, filmmakers, filmmaking, pasadena city college, musings, umberto eco, 2001: a space odyssey, entertainment, full metal jacket, colour me kubrick, vivian pasadena city college technorati tags end --> |

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY AMERICA! Complete Ron Paul Iowa Speech In One Video In Iowa, Ron Paul Rally Outdraws Six-Candidate Forum Ron Paul - Healthy Fund Trend, 2nd Quarter GOP maverick Paul shunned in Spartanburg Government cant create moral society, Paul says An Email Message from Ron Paul: July 3, 2007 After an airport rally in Arizona recently, a tall black man in an Obama shirt came up to shake my hand. He said he had stopped to listen, stayed to learn, and now wanted a Ron Paul shirt. And sure enough, when I saw him again, he was wearing one. Diversity is much talked about these days, for purposes of government enhancement, but its reality is rare. However, Ive seen it everyday, in our campaign. Young people, middle-aged people, seniors, whites, blacks, Hispanics, new citizens, old-line families, Republicans in suits and ties, hippies, home-schoolers, high-schoolers, homemakers, small business people, workers and capitalists, all united in their love for country and Constitution. As my great mentor Ludwig von Mises showed, government meddling in the economy creates conflict, as special-interest groups seek to rip us ron paul iowa through big government. The voluntarism of the free market, on the other hand, brings social cooperation and peace. Thats why this ron paul iowa is a showcase for the real unity-in-diversity that is freedom. Of course, the number of young people continues to thrill me. When I ask them how they got interested, they usually mention the Constitution. Old-style permissive parenting held that kids should do as they wanted, but kids want and need rules, and they know that government needs snoqualmie summit too. Thus our Constitution the few, good rules for a society of liberty, and for the ron paul iowa and international peace that we all want. Two other notes: conservative talkshow host Michael Smerconish told me he has changed his mind on the war, and now agrees with us. And a Republican county chairman in ron paul iowa Carolina said I am unwelcome in his county because of my position on the war. He will help all other candidates, but not me. But just as the Iowa exclusion didnt work we had more people, and far more enthusiastic people, than the official event so this man will not be successful. You can help make sure of that, with your generous donation (https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/) to this campaign. We run on a comparative shoestring, and that has its advantages against the lumbering dinosaur operations podcast our opponents. We can be nimble and quick. But not without your help. Id be so grateful for your contribution. Warmest regards, Ron Paul |

[great machine! OS X is also great but it is getting a bit slow at times, thats why I thought of giving it a try with Linux installing both OS X Tiger and Yellow Dog. There are several Linux distributions available for those Macs made before Apple transitioned to Intel processors (i.e. PowerPC Macs with G3 G4 and G5 processors). Linux distributions Ive considered were Ubuntu, Gentoo, Mandriva and openSUSE. I ended up downloading Yellow Dog Linux 5.0.1 code-named Phoenix (from the TerraSoft website). This distro is free and its iso has 3.6 GB, I chose it because its the only one thats made just for the PowerPC architecture and it seems like having a good support]. (a Fedora Core, RPM-based distribution) Do some research! Take a look at the TerraSoft site and here or here (in italian ->here). With Mac OS X running, insert the OS X Install Disc 1 that came with the Mac Mini. Run the installer from g4 disc and, when prompted, hit restart. The Mac Mini will reboot and load the OS X installer from the disc. 3 volumes I have marked as Free Space (their filesystem - Format - will be specified during the Linux installation) 1 volume of 50 GB I have marked as OS X with the format Mac OS Extended (Journaled), which is the Mac OS X filesystem, HFS+. Once done setting up the volumes as desired, click Partition on the lower right, and quit Disk Utility. Youre ready to install OS X onto the partition you just created (the 50 GB one in my case). Now OS X is installed, you only need to insert the YDL DVD and restart the system and make it so it will boot from the dvd-drive (I think I pressed C, I cant remember). The Yellow Dog installation graphic will appear and you will be guided to choose how to manage the Free Space partitions you have previously created. [&] Once you have both OSs installed, when turning on the Mac Mini, instead of rebooting directly into Mac OS X as before, it will now load a bootstrap from which you can hit the letter L to boot Linux, or X g4 boot Mac OS X. By default (not hitting any key) it will boot the Yellow all the pretty horses Linux. |

Okay, after writing two columns that practically ripped the football program a new hole, one before the Marshall game and another one before the Rice game, youd think by now I would have learned my lesson when it comes to writing about the Memphis Tigers. Because as we speak, the Tigers have a legitimate chance at playing for a chance to head to the Liberty Bowl with a 3-1 record in conference play after last nights win against the Tulane Green Wave, a rollercoaster victory because Martin Hankins had to bring the team all the way back from a big deficit in the second half. Honestly, the Tigers have played inspired football since Taylor Bradford died, winning three of their last four, the only loss coming to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on October 13th where they just couldnt find any rhythm on offense or defense for the most part. And now with this weekend being Homecoming and a showdown for first place against East Carolina who beat up on UAB Saturday on tap, the Tigers can finally prove themselves against one of C-USAs elite. That is, if they dont fall on their faces. - |

After A Prairie Home Companion days off, I am back for what will hopefully be some interesting reading. Dragon Life thanks for the comments, I will track down some of your suggestions on wine. In my next post I will give you my favourite wines from the recent Vancouver Wine Festival. After the festival on Saturday, my wife and I went to Yaletown to have a nice meal and carry on with our wine drinking ways. We went to a lovely restaurant that we have been to many time before. I had Ahi Tuna, my wife had pasta. We drank a nice Pinot Noir and everything was going well. A crowd of ladies came into the restaurant and sat beside us. They ordered the usual assortment of martinis and other concoctions, as they were dressed to hit the clubs after dinner and wanted to get a little liquored up. I personally do not like to drink hard liquor with food, but I know a lot of people do not like wine, so whatever floats your boat&. What shocked me was the crowd of ladies proceeded to order rib eye steaks and beef tenderloin and insisted on the meat to be cooked WELL DONE! Ie: dry, rock hard, no taste, why bother ordering it and paying $35.00 CDN for the food! Why should I be excited, why should I care? Well&. for those of you who used to go to grannys, or still do, for Sunday roast beef dinner, you will understand my comments. Why would one want to eat a piece of beef that was so overcooked, that you would need a lumpy gravy to add any semblance www.bloglines.com/blog/getnewyorknow moisture, yuck! As we were leaving, I asked the waiter what he thought about this. He rolled his eyes and said we get all types in here on the weekends, so what can you do? I suppose the restaurant could refuse service, but then you wouldnt make all that money off of the martinis&. Up next wine festival faves. |

Why did I watch this movie? It Gigli funny that I watched the film on the day of release considering that I absolutely hated Main Hoon Na, Farah Khans last venture, and I am not a huge fan of Shahrukh Khan the actor (though I am a fan of SRK the celebrity). In fact I dislike most of the films hes done. So why did I see this film? Well, A, it releases on Deepavali which is a movie watching time. B, the promos of the film looked great and C, the music is phenomenal. What is the movie about? The film is so hyped, Im sure all of you all know what its about. Why should you watch it? What is the moral of the film? How are the performances? Honestly, do you care? If you do then ok.. I think SRK was efficient. The role was written for him cos I know Farah and Johar cast SRK even before the scripting is done. So no real histrionics jesse timmendequas from him. Nevertheless he does well. Padukone looks hot and I kept staring at her with a blank mind and so got no time to judge her acting. Rampal is good as the baddy. Newsflash: He can act&.!!!! Kirron Kher irritates me. I feel like bashing her up. Kirron Kher is the modern day Nirupa Roy. I hated her in RDB, Fanaa, Hum Tum, KANK.. she grates on my nerves. Anupam, you should have kept her at home..!! Shreyas is awesome. Seriously its hard to be that confident with SRK around but the boy does beautifully well. Akshay Kumar, for me, is the star of the show. The 5 minutes hes on the screen are simply hilarious.. Akshay is this countrys greatest rockstar, I tell you. What couldve been better? Well the problem with the film is that it is trying to show a little too much in too little time. The second half seems uber rushed. The best parts of a reincarnation film, IMHO, are the parts where the guy in the new life is slowly reminded of his previous life - like in Karz (a classic) where the guy plays a tune he played in his last life, or in Karan Arjun where Salman randomly bursts into Bhaag Arjun... Wow those are the moments. Such great moments are missing in OSO just cos there is little time. The previous lives contributed to a small fraction of the screen time in Karz and Karan Arjun and so the director could afford to unfold the A Shot in the Dark slowly. In OSO, Farah doesnt have this luxury as the first life is half the film. But I like SRKs fear of fire and him giving the acceptance speech he prepared in his previous life. There arent enough such moments. One fine day he meets Rampal and whoom& he remembers everything. I didnt like the sudden spark of knowledge. A slow unfolding would have been much better. This also means that the first half is kinda draggy. Farah packs in as many jokes as possible in the first half at the expense of moving the story forward. Final verdict? OSO is a good movie. It is not a great movie because of the bad prioritization by the director, as mentioned above. However I fix little expectations from SRK films as they disappoint me more often than not, leah hickman so the film left me content at the man with blue skin of it all. I am a fan of all kinds of cinema and certainly dont mind masala films, but I hope that SRK and his film production company, after making 100 crores from this film, would go into braver films. I love the SRK of Swades, Chak De India, and Baadshah.. the SRK of Veer-Zaara, KANK, and OSO bores me. Score: 6.5/10 SRK has been very happy with the response to OSO. So here is an exclusive message from SRK to all his fans, only on bollywoodbyte. |
