'appreciating' Hindustani Classical Music - Hamara Forums
Namaskar to all HF friends:As the note a raaga unfold like the petal a flower, we are consumed by its fragrance.
A divine force touches our heart.
This isnt happiness, this isnt pleasure, this isnt a desire getting satiated, this is BLISS and we are blessed.A raaga, for me is like an extrovert friend.
Just like a friend, the rendering of a raaga that I have listened to several times already, will have something new and un-known to offer me the next time I listen to it.And sometimes, just like a friend, whose over-all temperament you are otherwise familiar with may sometimes show trace still unknown and unseen traits;
Likewise some maestros can show you profiles of a raaga making it appear a complete stranger and leave the listener gasping in ecstasy.Thus, the listening of the maestros rendition of a raaga is never complete.
The more we listen, the more there is to listen.My own experience is that as we listen to a rendering again and again a miracle unfolds:The notes become phrase a divine language.
The slightest and bilawal bhutto strongest of emotions are communicated without distortion.
There is no barrier.
Every subsequent taan sung or played seems to be the most logical thing to have happened at that point of time (know what I mean?).
You are in unison with the maestros thought process.Here, I must clarify that I do not known much about the bilawal bhutto Hindustani Classical Music (HCM).
Yes, I bilawal bhutto listen to it most of the time.
And I feel that there are many like me who listen to HCM without usps holiday schedule technically knowledgeable.The purpose of starting this thread is to request all the friends at HF to come up with there experiences with regard to appreciation of HCM.I invite the HF members to submit there thoughts with regard to either appreciation of HCM in general or bilawal bhutto reference any specific rendering(s).I will also try to upload bilawal bhutto such renderings which have mesmerized me over the years and have become part of my psyche.
I request you all to contribute wholeheartedly with your views and MP3s so that we can learn thru each others experiences and become better listeners.I also humbly request all the GUNIJAN here at HF who can ssam bar by guiding the less knowledgeable members like I, in increasing our capacity to appreciate HCM.AmodFirstly, I am uploading my favorite rendering of the raaga Shukla Bilawal by Pt.

Mallikarjun Mansoor.I have listened to it, God only knows how many times, and each time I have discovered new places to laugh and cry!Amod,Welcome to Raag Rang!Your post is so eloquent - it deserves an equally poetic response.
My language lacks the necessary class (I am in awe after reading your post) and I kept hoping that one of the gunijans would do the honours.
Please don't let the temporary silence so far make you feel unwelcome - it is great to see so much enthusiasm, interest and participation here.Your post made every sense to me - and I will share with pleasure my favorite renderings over the coming days and weeks.ShaibaalI do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use - Galileo Galilei QUOTE(shaibaal @ Feb 20 2007, 06:52 AM)Amod,Welcome to Raag Rang!Your post is so eloquent - it deserves an equally israelite response.

Your words were indeed very reassuring.I am uploading a bandish kesula ban phuley in raaga Bageshree by bilawal bhutto Gandharva.In this rendering, the highlight according to me, are the taans rendered between05:40 to 05:55 and 07:10 to 08:00 in that the effect resembles that of a bhramar (honey bee) hovering over flowers.
Only a genius can so aptly blend the buzzing of a honey bee with the note Bageshree!Enjoy!To know, learnedly unlearn and re-learn. bilawal bhutto bilawal bhutto san francisco zoo bilawal bhutto Hi all,Listen to this rendering as the first thing ...
