Ive barely had time to write anything, and its been a week with the fellows already. Hard to believe that time does, indeed, fly. After Lucia, came Cleveland Orch at Carnegie playing Mahlers 2nd. I told Anya that I felt as if I had been transformed into the marketing campaign from the Maxell cassette tapes. I was blown away, not only by the exhaustive playing, jonathan biss from the sound of the hall. Carnegie, as the archivist Gino put it, is a sonic tornado. My god, was it ever. Another spectacular and brilliant thing, aside from the concert, is that next to the water fountains at Carnegie are buckets of Ricolla. A new feature, as I had not seen that the last time I was there.Zankel on Friday night was not at all what I expected& American Composers Forum, which left me wondering, is everyone trying too hard to be conceptual these days? What is it with video images, cellos, saxophones, and electric guitars. Can we please get over that? Not that I have anything against either of these articels, separately, but Scott Johnsons guitar concerto did not convince me, or trick me, into listening to either classical music or rock. I felt that was somewhat of a cop-out by him to come up with an explanation in his program jonathan biss I was not jonathan biss by anything I heard that evening.Friday was emensely exhausting, as we toured BAM, toured the Met, had dinner, lectures, lectures&. and to top it all off, I got a cold. soar throat, fever, stuffy nose, light-headedness, the works. It did not stop me; I suffered through. And to bring it all up to dateLast night (Saturday), we attended the NY Phil with James Conlon guest conducting Jonathan Biss with russ tamblyn Cto, and Zemlinskys Florentine Tragedy. The program didnt seem very cohesive jonathan biss me.Besides that, I had a great time, really, b/c as I was passing out the Mahler reviews to the group, I turned around to Michael. Sitting next to him, to his right, was a young man who had filled the seat during intermission. jonathan biss a double take, b/c as it turned out, it was Roger!! I jerked around, and yelled (as politely as I could in Avery Fisher), Roger!! Oh My god! what the hell! Roger W, was colleague of mine at NPRs Performance Today (when it was in DC), as the Supervising Producer of the show. He had moved to NY in January (when everything ended at PT) onlymoreput.blogspot.com become music director of the NJ Sym.Anyway, it was ridiculously random, and wonderful to see him. I called Anya, and we decided to go out for drinks afterwards I probably had too much wine. Couple that with being highly medicated from my illness, and not having had dinner, made it slightly easier to be drunk. Pinot Noir kept flowing, and I (yes I) was funny, apparently&. We kept getting kicked out of places b/c of last call. Carmines and Dive Bar were the only places open (for some odd reason), and somewhere on Amerstdam and 103. The names jonathan biss which, I do not recall. Fuckin Roger! Ha!I just got a call that I am supposed to be at brunch at Monaco, so I have to run to the 80s.
