SWIPE CONTROLS...
To use this application you do need a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch. If you don’t have one you can either jailbreak it using Redsn0w or wait until PocketTouch is released onto the AppStore.
Usage:
•Swipe left – Prev. song

•Swipe up – Volume up
•Swipe down – volume down
•Double tap – Play/Pause
There are two ways of installing this app. The IPA version (needs a hacked MobileInstallation file. If you guys want a guide of how to do it comment below) and a deb version which needs MobileTerminal installed to use it.

For the IPA version all you need to do is add it to your iTunes library and sync it over to your device.
DEB Version:
You need MobileTerminal to do this. Copy the file over to your device using TotalCommander. Navigate to the directory the file is saved at on your device using the CD command in MobileTerminal.
Type in the following commands:
su root (enter)
alpine (enter)
$ dpkg -i SwipeControls.deb (enter)
This app doesn’t dim the backlight like PockeTouch did (to save battery) but you can do it using SBSettings in the app.
Beware of VAMPIRES LIVE spies...
The amount of apps on the AppStore which are being found out that they are spying on you is a bit shocking. Yet another game called Vampires Live App is one of them and, as far as I have seen, collects the most data from the victims iPhone.
The app is actually currently on the 23rd most popular stop on the AppStore free app list which means a lot of you out there are actually being spied on as we speak. I would strongly recommend uninstalling this application to protect you privacy or if you have a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch, install PrivaCy from Cydia which disables all the spying without you loosing the functionality of the app.
As I said, this app is the one that collects the most data (as far as I have seen)
This app tracks and reports your:
1.Your iPhone’s phone number (scary hein?)
2.Application version/number
3.Unique ID of your iPhone
4.The ammount of points you have
5.Your iPhone’s model
6.Your firmware
The most shocking of those is obviously that it tracks your phone number!Remember the SMS security hole in 3.0? As I said before, delete this app if you have it installed.

Official Apple's UNLOCK!
We all know about the Dev Team and GeoHot’s unoffical unlocks for the iPhone 3G but now iPhone user Olly Farshi seems to have found out that there is such thing as an official Apple approved unlock for the iPhone 3G.
Here is how he did:
And now I’ve discovered that Sonera is also happy to lend a helping hand in unlocking your old iPhone 3G. When the 3G was released last year, Sonera customers had to sign up for a two-year contract. When upgrading to the iPhone 3GS, those same customers are given the option to pay off the remainder of their original 3G contract. Paying off the contract, and thus completing the two years prematurely, entitles the customer to have their iPhone 3G unlocked.
The helpful assistant at the Sonera store made a note of my IMEI number and then passed it onto his boss — after that there’s a special piece of software that only his boss is authorized to use. This mystical application submits the IMEI to Apple, which in turn authorizes the device for unlocking.
I was advised that when the iPhone 3G was next synced with iTunes, it would be unlocked. Minutes later, back at home, I connected the iPhone 3G to iTunes and received a new carrier settings update. After downloading and installing the update, Apple’s official iPhone unlock screen appeared.
He claims that going down this route was much easier and painless rather than the DevTeams unlock. Plus, of course, it is officially unlocked rather than unofficially. He is now able to update his iPhones OS without the fear off loosing his ability to use any SIM card with his iPhone.

Saurik gives us the privacy!
There is a lot of anger revolving around the stories of applications on the AppStore which are taking our private information and are sending it to third parties without our consent.
Well for the jailbroken community, Saurik and BigBoss have come and saved the day. They actually went and contacted the accused companies and got information on how the the programs are getting the data and sending them. Saurik says they cooperated perfectly and now together the have made this plugin. ‘It was a team effort’ says Saurik.
The app is on the homepage of Cydia so it is easy to find. This is definately recommended for all!

iPhone HALO!
iHalo4iPhone full version has finally been released to the public. This is a mod for the Quake4iPhone app which gives you Halo on your iPhone. It may not be the exact version its pretty good as far as a homebrew game will go. Definately worth checking out!
Here is a video of the beta 2.2.1. This is not the version of the full release so the one you are going to download is better!
Here is how to install:
MANY More levels, weapons, and enemies, including the lobby system, new controls, and crosshairs (ooo… ahhh…).
To install this, you must trick Cydia. It will NOT let you install this unless you do EXACTLY as I say.
A)Uninstall any Halo4iPhone game or Quake4iPhone game.
B) Immediately after inserting the Repo address, go to the Game section in Cydia, click on iHalo CRF, and press the top-right button before it loads. This will prevent Cydia from detecting any errors.
C) Let it install, ignore the errors.
D) Reset iPhone/iTouch
E) Using either iCommander or SSH, set the permissions on the game to 775 (i think)

Deleted eMail flaw...
Yet another security flaw has been brought to the attention of iPhone users, this time found out by Matt Janssen. This flaw allows a hacker to view all deleted emails on the device.
The other flaw I speak of is the flaw that was recently found out by cybersecurity experts Charlie Miller and Collin Mulline in the SMS app that could potentially allow hackers to take complete control of a device simply by sending them 1 SMS.
This bug was discovered by searching emails using the OS 3.0 Spotlight feature. Matt noticed that all the emails he deleted where coming up but didn’t open on the first time (it made the Mail app crash) but on the second try, they would open and show the COMPLETE deleted email.

Apple about Jailbreak...
Apple have released a new support document entitled ‘Unauthorized modification of iPhone OS has been a major source of instability, disruption of services, and other issues‘. This page talks about all the negative things that Apple believe jailbreaking your iPhone will do to it such as compromised security & Inability to apply future software updates.
Earlier this year, Apple tried to make the act of jailbreaking your phones illegal but failed.
So now there are taking a difference direction in trying to stop iPhone users jailbreaking their phones. Apple main problem with jailbreaking is the fact that it allows users to install ‘cracked apps’ from the AppStore on their device. Many users nowadays jailbreak their devices solely for this reason.
Here is what the document says:
This article is about adverse issues experienced by customers who have made unauthorized modifications to the iPhone OS (this hacking process is often called ”jailbreaking”). Issues that have been encountered include instability, disruption of services, and compromised security.
Products Affected
iPhone, iPod touch, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (2nd generation)
As designed by Apple, the iPhone OS ensures that the iPhone and iPod touch operate reliably. Some customers have not understood the risks of installing software that makes unauthorized modifications to the iPhone OS (”jailbreaking”) on their iPhone or iPod touch. Customers who have installed software that makes these modifications have encountered numerous problems in the operation of their hacked iPhone or iPod touch.
Examples of issues caused by these unauthorized modifications to the iPhone OS have included the following:
Device and application instability: Frequent and unexpected crashes of the device, crashes and freezes of built-in apps and third-party apps, and loss of data.
Unreliable voice and data: Dropped calls, slow or unreliable data connections, and delayed or inaccurate location data.
Disruption of services: Services such as Visual Voicemail, YouTube, Weather, and Stocks have been disrupted or no longer work on the device. Additionally, third-party apps that use the Apple Push Notification Service have had difficulty receiving notifications or received notifications that were intended for a different hacked device. For iPhone users daynah from PHP-Princess.net 11 pages and 180 apps was not enough for her. She did some swooping around and has found a trick to create as many extra pages as you want. Plus you don’t need a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch! Proof below (it has 12 pages when normally only allowed 11)
The trick is a bit complicated to explain so I can going to copy her instructions from her post on the PHP–princess.net website.
Now take one icon from the 10th page and drag it over to the 11th page. This will force the last icon to be booted off the page and into the iPhone abyss!
Now download another app to replace that empty space. And magically, a 12th page will be created with all the apps you weren’t able to view on it. I repeated the same steps and was able to make a 13th page.
Thats it. Now you can have as many apps as you like on your iPhone. She also says:

3.0.1 Out, but still run for cover!
Apple releasing OS 3.0.1 may have fixed the SMS vulnerability that was found by Collin and Charlie but now, Luis Miras and Zane Lackey, have managed to find yet another hole in the firmware meaning that even with 3.0.1 – we are still not safe!
This problem is apparently an operator problem. And the operator in question, GSM Alliance, has been notified.
This exploit involves sending the victim an SMS with a clickable link in it. Once the person clicks on the link the hacker has complete control of the iPhone.
All that we ask is IF you end up with a text message like so, simple delete it or turn off your phone until further notice. Hackers are looking into this and are acting fast upon this threat.
Be afraid of SMS, be very afraid...
A few days ago cybersecurity experts Charlie Miller and Collin Mulliner exposed a great vulnerability in the iPhone’s SMS app which could allow hackers to easily take control of a victims iPhone simply by sending an SMS. The two have now released more information on the hack at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas including what to do if you get one of these SMSs.
Before we start, they have stated that iPhone’s are not in immediate danger yet. They claim that it will take a long time for hackers to manifacture the code to be able to do this SMS hack.
Here is the main points as simplified by Mashable.com:
2. The hack works by sending you code in an SMS message (or a series of messages) that crashes your iPhone. After that, your iPhone is theirs to use.
3. The offending text would come in the form of a single square character. If you get the square character, turn off your phone IMMEDIATELY.
4. You only have to receive the message to get hacked; you don’t even have to do anything with the text message.
5. The flaw was discovered by noted security expert Charlie Miller, who has hacked everything from MacBook Airs to Second Life, and partner Collin Mullinger.
6. The attack was presented publicly at the Black Hat conference. The duo decided to do this after Apple gave them no response back in July, when they provided Apple with information on the security flaw. The goal is to bring attention to the flaw (which they are clearly getting).
7. According to Reuters, now that the vulnerability is exposed, hackers could build software that mounts this SMS attack within the next two weeks.
8. Apparently Google Android, Windows Mobile phones, and Palm Pres are vulnerable to similar hacks. The team demonstrated the attack on an AndroidAndroid phone and a Windows Mobile phone.

3.0.1 with 3.0...
Short version:
You can re-use redsn0w v0.8 we released a few weeks ago to jailbreak today’s 3.0.1 update. Just let iTunes update or restore you to official 3.0.1 then run redsn0w. The only “trick” is that when redsn0w asks you to identify the IPSW used, point it at the 3.0 IPSW instead of the 3.0.1 one. After the jailbreak, reinstall ultrasn0w 0.9 if you need the unlock.
More details:
The 3.0.1 release is a “branch” from 3.0 that occurs (code-wise) before all the 3.1 betas. The programs redsn0w needs to change for the jailbreak are identical when you compare the 3.0 and 3.0.1 versions. It seems pretty much the only changes Apple made were for the SMS bug, which affects programs that redsn0w doesn’t touch. That’s why you can re-use redsn0w 0.8 on 3.0.1 even though it was written for 3.0.
And since 3.0.1 doesn’t touch the baseband either, ultrasn0w 0.9 works for those needing the soft unlock. Just install it from the repo666.ultrasn0w.com repository using Cydia as usual.
We’ll at some point fix redsn0w to recognize both 3.0 and 3.0.1 IPSW’s, but really that’s the only change that would be made to it. Everything else would be identical, so there’s no need to wait for the “proper” version that recognizes the 3.0.1 IPSW as valid.
