Dot points!

I'm currently rather disgusted with the guys in my Marketing tutorial after listening to them claim that metrosexuality was forced onto men by women.I have a cold. That sucks a lot.Because of my cold, I've been staying inside. I've been entertaining myself by translating scenes from 07-GHOST. (It's kind of sad that stuff like looking up kanji is my idea of fun ...)I think this is probably my favorite scene, at least partly because of the Engrish, but mostly because of Mikage. Hagu da yo~ ♥However, the names are kicking my arse so bad. It took me ages to twig that the constantly referred to is the same as Verloren. There's also one I can't even figure out the kana for.I've changed my layout again because of my stupidly short attention span.I bought milk about a week ago and forgot about it until yesterday, and it goes off today. I am sad that I wasted money and milk. ;_;I was originally quite happy that I only needed to get two textbooks (and I got one second-hand), but then it turned out that I needed another one for Accounting. And I had to buy another one for Japanese yesterday. Then I'll need another one in about three weeks. >.

Memeage from Toriko.

DIRECTIONS: Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions. Include this explanation. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions. My questions come from toriko_roller:1. Pick three characters from any combination of fandoms. Which do you Cliff, Shag, Marry? To throw off a cliff - Raena from the Deverry books. I hate her for a couple of reasons, mainly because she is a) insane, and b) a cruel, deceitful person, but ESPECIALLY FOR MURDERING MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS. Seriously, she was directly responsible for the deaths of two characters I loved to pieces, and partially responsible for another. *still bitter about that*To shag - Where do I start? ^^ At the moment, Frau from 07-GHOST. I've been rereading the series and I love Frau so much. I think I have a thing for tall blond men who act all evil.To marry - Why, Shannon-nii, of course. He's already the perfect housewife. :P2. CAKE OR DEATH???CHOCOLATE Cake!3. What did you do today?First I lost a battle against my computer when I was trying to print something I needed for class (it kept freezing up on me!). Then I went to Japanese class. Then I had a pie for lunch. Then I went to Careers in the Curriculum). Then I cooked tea. Then I washed clothes. Then I went food shopping. Now I have a lighter I can actually use!4. What do you think is your defining physical feature?Uh. Do I really have one? Let's just say 'eyes' for the hell of it.5. What are your fanfic squicks?I'm not a fan of incest, or any sort of relationship with a serious power imbalance. I'm also grossed out by the sort of violence in That Fic. I read it about four years ago and I'm still disgusted by it.

Interesting.

ASUKA is listed in the line-up for the September issue of Wings. Looks like Oukami-sensei's decided to work on it rather than start a new series.

Oh my god, why am I still up?

Back from visiting relatives. It was fun to see them again, but the COLD. And the RAIN. My shoes are plastered with mud. It seems to be less cold and rainy here, but I'm still freezing. >< They also had a rather evil cat. It only bit me in play, but I have deeper bite marks from it than from my cat has ever left from a serious bite. oo Maybe it just has sharper teeth.Got my results and was greatly relieved that I did not fail Microeconomics. I wasn't too worried about Organisations & Management since the group presentation did well enough that I'd have to dismally fail the exam to fail the subject, but given that I only got 50% on most of my Micro stuff and actually failed one test, I was very glad to get a credit. I was petrified I'd fail. Seriously. I practically had nightmares about it.I've changed my layout again (to a SILVER DIAMOND one this time--god, I love Chigusa ♥) and updated my userinfo. It hadn't been changed since *checks* this time last year. I removed a lot of stuff from it. Also, now that I have a shiny new permanent account I've been uploading more icons, but I've only got twenty thus far! Only a hundred and eighteen to go. ^^... Maybe I'll make myself a SD mood theme.

*sigh of relief*

The Doom Week is finally done. Monday was apparently Let's Fill the Kitchen with Smoke Day, because I did that in the morning and then one of my flatmates did it in the evening. Then Tuesday was Let's Flood the Apartment Day, and the place still smells horribly dank. Then on Wednesday I ruined all the hard work getting the bathroom floor dry by slipping and knocking over a bucket full of water (wtf was it doing there?! and why was there another bucket full of water and SOCKS on top of it?). -.- Later, my group for Organisations and Management got a credit for our presentation, but we were one point from a distinction and the lecturers couldn't give it to us. Even though we were obviously the best. :P And my dialogue test on Friday didn't go as well as it should have because I ended up getting all tongue-tied and sounded like an idiot, though at least I didn't say anything horribly gramatically incorrect. But it is all done now, and my semester is over. Now I only have three exams to do and I'll be freeeeee. And sorry about the long hiatus. It was not intended; I just kind of er, forgot. I've started university and I'm still kind of adjusting. Especially to studying and managing my money. I admit to procrastinating more than I should. Also, there's too much tempting stuff around here! *looks at the three bookshops in particular* So, yeah. I am not dead.

OMG I'M DYING

It's 8PM and it's still about 30C outside. That's just horrible. I dread what it's going to be like in December if's like this now. It's sapping my will to live as it is, and it's only going to get worse!I was planning on changing my layout again, but in the end I couldn't be bothered. However, I did go on an iconage spree. Some days I do have an attention span of more than ten seconds, but today was not one of them. However, there are a couple of things that have managed to occupy my attention. At least for the time being. I'm watching La Corda d'Oro ~primo passo~ and enjoying it (admittedly, though, I am the saddest kind of fangirl ever for Hihara, which is really the main reason I haven't lost interest yet. I have a lamentably bad track record with following anime). Basically, it's a typical girl-surrounded-by-bishounen anime, except with classical music. AND HIHARAAlso, continuing my trend of pathetic fangirl-ness, I'm watching Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch (that's written "rurusshu" in katakana, if you're wondering how to pronounce it). I don't remember what I was looking at, but it mentioned Code Geass and that the character designs were done by CLAMP. That sold me on it immediately. The character designs actually remind me slightly of Gundam SEED as well--there's a girl who looks a lot like Lacus and I personally think Lelou looks like he could be Kamui and Kira's love-child.Code Geass is, more or less, a mecha anime. The basic plotline is that the Britannia Empire has conquered Japan, among other countries, and dispossessed the citizens. The title character, Lelouch, swears to bring down Britannia for the crimes it has committed. Lelouch himself is a very interesting character--he's quite ruthless and Machiavellian. Compared to the usual hero who hates war and only fights because he has to, Lelou would probably walk over piles of dead bodies without batting an eye in order to achieve his goal. I've seen him described as a "psychotic Kamui clone", which I think is reasonably accurate. (As a side note, I was surprised to find his seiyuu is Fukuyama Jun. His Lelou voice is a lot deeper than how I'm used to hearing him.)(Additionally, another thing that interests me about CG is the mechs. The way they move fascinates me--the Knightmare Frames have wheels of sorts, so they more glide than walk like the standard mech does. The Lancelot in particular looks very elegant when it moves. /geek)I'll also add that the music is awesome. /end Code Geass fangirling

A sort of follow-up post.

Toriko, remember how you and Cairnsy were discussing Kaistern's sword yesterday? Dunno if you've already seen these, but I found them when I was flipping through volume 4 and looking through volume 21 before (okay, I was looking for scenes with Vierres and Gill. That makes no difference). Check it out.

Sometimes I hate you, LJ.

I was checking out the page for Wings on Shinshokan's website when I found an Oukami Mineko interview. Of course, I wanted to translate it, so here it is. The last question contains potential spoilers for upcoming DK chapters.(This would have been posted nearly an hour ago, except LJ ate it so I had to reformat it and everything AGAIN.)Q1 What's the origin of your pen name?A1 I like wolves and cats.Q2 What's the first manga you bought?A2 I think the first manga I bought myself was probably "Urusei Yatsura" ... but before that I might have bought one of Yuzuki Hikaru-sensei's books. Incidentally, before I bought things myself, my parents bought me "Candy Candy" and Satonaka Machiko-sensei's "Mister Lady".Q3 If you hadn't become a mangaka, what would you have become?A3 ... (o) I never thought about that. Perhaps someone who lives on part-time work.Q4 If you were to compare yourself to an animal?A4 Cat. I'd like to say that, but for some reason, I'm more rabbit-like ...Q5 Your favorite anime?A5 Favorite ... It pains me to say this, but "Creamy Mami".Q6 How many cats do you have now?A6 Five.Q7 How many outfits do you have for your cats?A7 About a hundred? Maybe more? (Most of them are for my black cat Emma.)Q8 Your three favorite animals?A8 Wolf, cats, black dogs.Q9 At the moment, what are you most addicted to?A9 Making memories taking little trips with my black cat.Q10 The biggest crisis in your life! What was it?A10 I was at a Disney resort hotel for two days, and on the second evening there was a Takarazuka performance, "Bara no Fuuin", scheduled (that was all I could go to on my schedule). I ran from Disney Sea to the Takarazuka theatre as fast as I could and just got there. Anyway, I was in the third tier on the first floor ... and furthermore, it was Rika-san's last performance with the troupe. Just as I sat down, the lights went out on the stage.Q11 Please tell us one thing you pride yourself on.A11 My black cat is so obedient I can take her anywhere. Even if I fall asleep on the train, she obediently sleeps as well in my bag (laugh).Q12 What TV shows do you always watch?A12 My favorite anime and my favorite foreign drama.Q13 How do you relieve stress when working?A13 I look at photos of my cats.Q14 Your background music when working?A14 I don't listen to music.Q15 What are your favorite and least favorite parts of producing a manga?A15 My favorite is creating episodes full of foreshadowing and drawing the characters' expressions in those moments. I don't like doing the storyboard.Q16 The characters that are easy to draw, and the characters that are difficult to draw?A16 Sabel is easy to draw (both face and personality). Lykouleon's hair is hard to draw.Q17 Who did you use as models for the characters?A17 For Sabel, Kaburagi Jouichirou; for Teceous, a certain matchless person; for Nadil, Phantom 10 of Maou-den; for Thats' Master, Todd Guinness, for Sakumo, Kayin Amoh. I only used their faces as models (though for some of them the contents are also similar).Note: I don't know who she's referring to for Sabel or Teceous (I guessed at the reading "Kaburagi Jouichirou"; there were several other possibilities). I don't know Phantom 10, but Maou-den is part of the Demon City Blues series. Todd Guinness is a character from the mech series Aura Battler Dunbine (amusingly, Vierres is named after Todd's rather ugly mech). Kayin is a character from Battle Arena Toushinden.Q18 The character you're most attached to?A18 Gill.Q19 What are you most concerned about with your manga?A19 If I can cover the lack of power in the strokes (^^;). Introducing a story once, then not developing it.Q20 What food or drink do you always have when working?A20 Chocolate.Q21 Which character would you want as your lover?A21 Lykouleon.Q22 Which character would you want as your husband?A22 Luwalk.Q23 What highlights are ahead for "Dragon Knights"?A23 The last spurt. Mysteries will be solved and mysteries will be prolonged (laugh).Q24 When are you in a state of bliss?A24 When I'm coming home from the theatre.Q25 Which manga has influenced you?A25 "Urusei Yatsura".Q26 What sort of manga do you want to draw from now on?A26 A story with a stylish adult male as the lead~. After that, as something different, a blond protagonist.Q27 Please tell us the most enjoyable and the toughest things in a mangaka's life.A27 The times when I can convey my feelings in the impression the work gives are always the happiest and most enjoyable. Autograph sessions and letters and mail. As for the toughest things, preparing a storyboard every month, and having to endure drowsiness when I'm nearly finished.Q28 If you entered the "DoraKishi" world for one day, who would you be and what would you do?A28 It's trite, but I would become Sabel, and ride his flying fish wherever I pleased, destroying things incidentally (laugh). Being healed by the minus ions in water would be good too.Q29 Please tell us a little about upcoming developments as "DoraKishi" approaches its climax!A29 Even now, Rath has Kaistern's sword. Always. If you look closely you'll understand. After that~, there'll be two kinds of Dragon Eyes, inborn and false. There'll be new characters, three siblings - older brother/younger sister twins with a little brother (some parts have already been arranged to debut). Karl is a subordinate of the Four Devas. Nadil will make a come-back though right now he's dispossessed and sleeping. Then, because I saw a certain musical, Karl will gain eight servants, and I think I'll get those eight to flirt with each other. (Galfacsy will be in charge of them, however. Karl forced them on him (laugh).)Note: for info on the Four Devas, check out the Wiki page. Man, I hope Oukami-sensei goes through with all this. It would be awesome.

Info on the DoraKishi World

My computer is alive again! Yay! Of course, it means I've lost everything I had on here previously *sad face*, so I have to re-bookmark everything, but still. It's alive! So, when I was trying to re-find Oukami-sensei's homepage (I nearly had the URL right, but it obviously wasn't close enough), I ended up on the DoraKishi page on the Japanese Wikipedia. Scrolling through it, I noticed that there seemed to be a lot of info on the Dragon Officers, so I just had to translate it. It's good to actually understand the structure of the Ryuuzoku. Just how the hell can you translate "Ryuuzoku" without it sounding silly? "Dragon Tribe/Race/People" sounds awkward, and if you just call them "dragons" it's too easy to confuse them with the actual dragons. /tangentThe head of the Ryuuzoku is the Dragon Emperor, and under his direct control are the five-colored Dragon Officers (red, black, yellow, blue, white). Red Dragon Officer shoulders the heavy responsibility of being the head of the Dragon Officers and the leader of the Dragon Knights. Black Dragon Officer is in charge of justice and public safety (commander of the Dragon Soldiers). Of the others, Yellow Dragon Officer handles government affairs, Blue Dragon Officer foreign affairs, and White Dragon Officer, as minister's secretary, handles all the other duties. That is, it is arranged so that, at most, there are five people. Of the five combat dragons, Wind Dragon holds the most power, and under him are Light Dragon, Fire Dragon, Water Dragon, and Earth Dragon. Beneath the Dragon Knights are the Dragon Soldiers. Because the Dragon Soldiers do not possess combat dragons, as a whole they are fixed in a subordinate position to the Dragon Knights, but individually their combat ability rivals the Dragon Knights. Furthermore, as the wife of the Dragon Emperor, the Dragon Empress moderates the head court lady, the court ladies under her, and the maids of honor. On the other hand, the demons of Dusis are solely under the control of Demon King Nadil with Shaideman and Sailendra as his aides, who rely on their might to rule, because there is no organization similar to the Ryuuzoku's.Also, though it isn't mentioned in detail in the original story, each nation in Dusis also has this national organization. And something else from Luwalk's profile ..."Also has a close friendship with Selnozula, the head court lady."Wanna bet Alfeage chews him out for being buddy-buddy with his inferiors? :P

Poor old Pluto, no longer a planet.

Wee! Paid account! Thank you, responsible-person-who-I-know-but-will-not-name~! I've been going icon-happy but I tend to forget just how many thirty can be. I've only uploaded sixteen.I like the new Vox S2 styles LJ has implemented. They're cute, colorful, simple, and easy to read. However, I decided to stick with my trusty S1. I actually know how to use it, for one thing.I have actual money in the bank because the problems with my Youth Allowance claim have been sorted out. MONEY MONEY MONEY While I haven't managed to get a job yet--it seems that around this time of year they have no spare positions--there are plenty more places I can apply at, so I won't need to panic yet.Also, a question. I've been looking at my chosen uni course and, besides being confused by the whole major/minor thing, I'm wondering about the European Business minor. It sounds like something I'd really like to do, but two of the available subjects involve time in Europe. What I'm curious about is, how is it paid for? Is it included into your fees, do you have to pay up front, or is it covered by the uni? I tried looking it up, but my google-fu is failing me. Please help me. ;_;
