Zoom in on Croatia: Best Holiday Spots in the Split/Trogir Area

Ciovo is an island but it is actually connected to Trogir Old Town and the mainland by a bridge so no need to worry you will be stuck on an island - far from it! This is a great place to be as you are set back from the roads of the mainland and rather have a little island to explore.Try the understated yet wonderfully located and stocked Konoba Duba - just ask a local..(best steak in the area we think)..

5 minutes drive from Trogir Old Town (or about 25 minutes in a water taxi from the little harbour) is Okrug Gornji (upper Okrug) - Okrug is the main part of the island with a stretch of beaches, cafe's, little harbour, restaurants and grocery shops - a very convivial spot with residential streets all leading to the beach! Here you can walk to most places and it's a very easy place to be on holiday. Okrug Donji (lower Okrug) is the next place along and quieter but still with access to Okrug Donji, restaurants etc - better if you want a bit more peace.

Other areas also with water taxi's, restaurants, beach bars and similar short distances to Trogir are Arbanije or Slatine on the other side of the island - the beach is always close by and stretches all along the coast, and the pace of life slow!

Or for a wonderful promenade and one of the area's best sea food restaurants, Frankie's, stay in Seget Donji - here you can walk all along the coastal promenade stopping for coffee, a bit to eat or for a swim from the beach - it's very holiday oriented and it's very relaxing! There is a great water activitiy beach at the far end. Continuing in that direction, a short transfer from Trogir, is Seget Vranjica, this is a lovely bay and village which is very popular during the summer months for families - cosy restaurants around the bay, great swimming spots everywhere and very convivial.

Just a bit further on from there is the stunning Sevid Peninsula - quintessential Croatia with little boats bobbing in the harbour and all the turquoise smooth sea you could wish for, this is bliss for relaxers...
