On Holiday Group signs five-year Atlas Croatia deal

In the following article, read about what Travel Weekly says about Croatia, holidays in Croatia and plan about tourism in Croatia:

"Trade supplier On Holiday Group has struck a five-year deal to become the UK distribution partner of Croatia’s largest ground handler.

The firm, which includes the trade bed bank Holiday Brokers, believes the country can become the next big dynamic packaging destination. The agreement with inbound operator Atlas comes after Abta announced that next year’s Travel Convention will be hosted in Dubrovnik for the first time in 2013.

Atlas said it plans to run a trade-focused promotional and educational campaign including fam trips for both counter staff and travel agency bosses. OHG says the country has been overlooked by the UK trade and it is working with tourist officials and hoteliers in Croatia to hone the product to British holidaymakers’ tastes.

Ivan Gadže, chief executive of Atlas parent adriatica.net, said: “The repositionning of Adriatica.net group helped us to secure substantial funds to invest in modernising technology and deliver exception product delivery in resort.

It is vital for Atlas to find local distribution partners in each key source market to connect it via travel agents to the UK travelling public.

We intend to operate a very focused promotional campaign to re-educate the UK travel trade to the benefits of travelling to Croatia, which include the hosting of the 2013 Abta convention and many other educational trips for business owners to counter staff.

We intend to work with the trade to make Croatia the most fashionable place to visit in 2013."

Steve Endacott, chief executive of OHG, said that while online travel agents have picked up Croatia hotel stock via its XML feeds a lack of logistical support, in particular pre-bookable transfers, has held it back.

OHG will use its extensive OTA, call centre and high street travel agency community to distribute Croatian hotel stock and to work with Atlas on delivering an extensive educational and promotional campaign over the next six months to drive sales for Summer 2013,” Endacott said."

Dubrovnik 'a city for all seasons'

If you haven’t visited Dubrovnik yet, it is high time to do it! According to Opodo travel news, Dubrovnik is the city for all seasons:
“The Dubrovnik Tourist Board has highlighted some of the attractions and experiences on offer in the destination throughout the year. A spokeswoman for the organisation described the popular travel hotspot on Croatia's Adriatic coast as 'a city for all seasons'.

She said different times of the year have their own distinctive appeal, from the hot weather and lively atmosphere of the summer months to the quieter autumn and winter, when visitors can walk around without worrying about crowds of tourists. Holidaymakers who take the time to explore Dubrovnik can see its historic buildings and learn more about its culture and heritage.

'Inspire yourself with the astonishing architecture of this historic city, get lost in the interesting side streets, spend part of your time in one of the many art galleries and museums,' the spokeswoman recommended. Travellers interested in learning more about Croatia's past can also visit Split, another coastal city that is home to Diocletian's Palace, a complex that dates back to Roman times.”

For Culturally Aware: Korčula

You can get to the island of Korčula by ferry from Split, Rijeka and Dubrovnik. Former name of island was ''Korkyra Melainia'' or “Black Korcula”, and it comes from the ancient Greeks because of its dense oak and pine forests. In Korčula, you can easily find a combination of urban chic with a natural beauty. The medieval old town of Korčula is located on a small peninsula, and its narrow cobbled streets leading to the sea, all of lovely square St. Mark where the cathedral and the museum are located.

In the evening, you can have a drink on the waterfront and look around the 48 islands that make up the Korčula archipelago. Be sure to visit the islands Badija and Vrnik to enjoy the beautiful vineyards. As far as food is concerned, we recommend restorants “U Maje i Tonke” and ''Planjak'' where you can enjoy traditional Dalmatian dishes. For best traditional sweets on the Dalmatian coast, if not the wider, head for an inevitable Cukarin. Best restaurant with an amazing wine list is LD Terrace (Lesic Dimitri Palace).

Dubrovnik in the U.S. Edition of the New York Times

The New York Times, one of the world's most widely read newspapers, published a report 36 hours in Dubrovnik, and it can be considered the best invitation to readers to visit and explore the destination.
"Dubrovnik is no longer the best kept secret”, describes the author of the article, the eminent American travel journalist Charly Wilder, some of his first impressions of Dubrovnik where he stayed this summer and continues: "Dubrovnik is filled with tourists in the summer, but if you come in the fall, you will understand why is it so popular. Although there are a lot of shops in the old town for guests with a cruise, in the city you will find many unique exceptions'.

The author then proceeds to report according to the schedule over the weekend, and within 36 hours recommended what to do and see in Dubrovnik. Among other things, he recommended cable car ride, try the local wines and delicacies, shopping opportunities, and what should not be missed is the most beautiful sunset in Dubrovnik - from the elegant bar Sunset Hotel Dubrovnik Palace to Elafiti Islands. He also recommended a visit to the Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik, accommodation in luxury hotels Excelsior and Bellevue Adriatic Luxury Hotels Group, which has set new standards in the luxury hotel Dubrovnik.
This report, which was published yesterday in the electronic edition of the New York Times (which has over 25 million individual visitors per month), will be published in the print edition of the Sunday New York Times with a circulation of 2 million copies.
