Whiskey Myers 2011

In a modest rent house in the small East Texas town of Elkhart, Texas, Cody Cannon and Cody Tate began to write music, only dreaming of the success that is sure to follow. They began to incorporate the talent and imagination of friend and guitarist John Jeffers. At that time, they called themselves Lucky Southern, though they had only three members. As time passed, with their inspiration mounting, they moved to Tyler, Texas. There they met up with Jeff Hogg, a mutual friend and drummer from Palestine, Texas, and Gary Brown, a bass guitarist who had grown up in Neches, Texas. They came together and came to be known as Whiskey Myers.

Soon, the group was playing private parties on flatbed trailers in small towns around East Texas. The sound they emitted was something more unique than anyone had expected. From their first show in Montalba, Texas, a young Whiskey Myers was hooked on performing, and the crowds were hooked on them. In the spring of 2007, they were given the opportunity to open for Roger Creager at Gator?s Bar and Grill in Gun Barrel City, Texas. The club owner was so impressed by their performance and the crowd that had come to the stage that he asked them to come back the next weekend to open for The Eli Young Band. From then on, popularity for the band began to swell. They were heard on live stages all over East Texas, in interviews on local radio stations, and seen on television giving live interviews. Suddenly it seemed that the whole region knew who Whiskey Myers was, and everyone was becoming familiar with their high energy twin guitars, soulful vocals, and unstoppable rhythm.

Whiskey Myers? musical style was forged from several different genres of music from several different eras. The most obvious of these are the blues rock jam bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, and Led Zeppelin. Whiskey Myers takes the blues rock genre and mixes it with modern day Texas Country such as Reckless Kelly, Randy Rogers, and Cross Canadian Ragweed to derive a new sound that is sure to take concert listeners on an atmospheric roller coaster. With a sound like no other and a stage presence that captivates anyone close enough to notice, a live concert performed by this young band is something that must be seen to be believed.

The Tyler area has been instrumental in the development of Whiskey Myers from a group of musicians to a band. As the group continues to expand its fan base, new listeners all over Texas are beginning to recognize their talent. They continue to engulf listeners with their sound, ensuring that the name Whiskey Myers is one that will be remembered for ages to come.

The Gun Club - 4 albums

Tribal psychobilly blues is the best way to describe the Gun Club's energetic death rock, but the band's career seemed doomed from the get-go due to leader Jeffrey Lee Pierce's reputation as an unreliable wildman, and well-publicized bouts of drunkenness dogged him throughout his career. Formed in Los Angeles in the early '80s, the band was vaguely aligned with similarly roots-inspired groups like X and the Blasters, but later picked up and relocated to the Lower East Side, resting more comfortably around the New York downtown set and Pierce's mentors, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein. Their 1981 debut, Fire of Love, was a punk-blues hybrid -- intense energy fueled Pierce's exorcism-in-progress delivery and the band's (Ward Dotson, guitar; Rob Ritter, bass; and Terry Graham, drums) frenetic style. Released in 1982, Miami had the band allied with Blondie's Stein at the boards. Pierce had once been the president of Blondie's U.S. fan club, which sparked the liaison. The 1985 EP Death Party is a swingin' piece of punkabilly with Dee Pop on drums and Jim Duckworth of Panther Burns on guitar. For Las Vegas Story in 1984, the Club won over guitarist Kid Congo Powers from the Cramps and Patricia Morrison (the Bags) on bass, and it looked as if that was that when -- save for some live recordings and posthumous releases -- Pierce launched his solo career in 1985 with the EP Flamingo and the Wildweed album for the Statick label. But it wasn't quite over; in 1987 Pierce came back with a realigned Club and the album Mother Juno (Fundamental), which earned them a wider following than ever. In 1996, after drying out, but suffering from persistent health problems, Pierce passed away from a brain hemorrhage. Morrison went on to play with the Sisters of Mercy, Powers in his own lounge group, and Dotson formed the Pontiac Brothers. An album featuring the Gun Club in concert, Larger Than Live!, appeared from Last Call Records in 2008.

Roger Alan Wade - Too Fat To Fly (2011)

Roger Alan Wade penned songs for country legends such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, George Jones and Hank Williams Jr. He embarked on a solo career with the promotional assistance of his cousin, actor Johnny Knoxville, who occasionally featured Wade's music on his TV show Jackass. He has also been featured on the TV show Wildboyz. During an appearance on the Howard Stern radio show, Knoxville promoted his cousin's songs, which were favorably received by Stern and his audience and given frequent airplay thereafter. Knoxville and Wade currently host an hour-long weekly show, "Big Ass Happy Family Jubilee" (named after a Wade song), on Sirius XM's Outlaw Country channel.

Wade's lyrics satirically and detrimentally deal with topics and stereotypes relating to redneck and honky tonk culture. His songs feature folky arrangements, featuring little or no accompaniment beyond acoustic guitar. His best known compositions include "BB Gun," "Butt Ugly Slut," "D-R-U-N-K," "Poontang," and "If You're Gonna Be Dumb." Wade's lesser known works are less hysterical and carry a more lyrical tone including "The First Time I Saw Waylon," "Brainerd Road," and "Jingle Jangle"

Wade currently does voiceover work for WUUQ 97.3 and 99.3 FM, a classic country station in Chattanooga, TN.

J.J. Cale - The Silvertone Years (2011)

JJ Cale (also J.J. Cale), born John Weldon Cale[1] on December 5, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,[1] is a Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter and musician. Cale is one of the originators of the Tulsa Sound, a loose genre drawing on blues, rockabilly, country, and jazz influences. Cale's personal style has often been described as "laid back".

His only U.S. hit single, Crazy Mama, peaked at #22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1972. During the 2006 documentary film To Tulsa and Back Cale recounts the story of being offered the opportunity to appear on Dick Clark's American Bandstand to promote the song, which would have moved the song higher on the charts. Cale declined when told he could not bring his band to the taping and would be required to lip-sync the words to the song.

Clint Martin - Last of a Dying Breed 2011

In the world of country music today there is such a wide range of so called country music. Clint Martin has found a way to meet in the middle and literally keep people on the dance floor. Whether it is a honky tonk bar, county fair and festival, or billiard hall, Clint Martin Band will get the crowd moving and singing along. Formed in 2007, Clint has grown as a singer/songwriter and performer. Backed by The Clint Martin Band (Randy Barnette, John Wolfe, and Bill Allen), Clint has been playing his music extensively around Texas, opening shows for acts such as Kevin Fowler, Jamie Richards, Cory Morrow, Granger Smith, Two Tons of Steel, Gretchen Wilson, Honeybrowne, and The Bellamy Brothers. It’s been a real roller coaster for the upcoming artist, but Clint has been able to hold his own and release three singles from his first record Proven, recorded and Produced by Clint Martin and Tommy Detamore of Cherry Ridge Studio in 2008. The very first single, West Side of the Tracks, peaked at #39 in the fall of 2009. “There is always room to improve and move forward” as Clint says and that is what he has been doing. 2010 was a great year, playing nearly 100 live shows and getting to meet with so many fans from all around the state. Clint just released his second album Last of a Dying Breed. The title of the album is track four, which is a song he wrote for his grandpa who left this world in 2001 due to lung cancer. “It was the very first song I ever wrote and it’s by far my favorite song in the Clint Martin catalog”. The new album features a diverse style in that it’s got some really good country music and also Red Dirt style guitar and fiddle. It’s the perfect combination of influences (George Strait, Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green, Waylon Jennings) all coming together into one package. Clint has it all from the more traditional style of country to the more edgy style of country known as red dirt music.

Aaron Watson - Discogrsphy

Watson was born in Amarillo, Texas and attended Abilene Christian University, where he began learning guitar, after playing junior college baseball in New Mexico. He gigged around Texas before releasing his debut album, A Texas Cafe; the follow-up, Shuttupanddance, was a regional sales success. His 2004 album, The Honky Tonk Kid, was produced by Ray Benson and features an appearance from Willie Nelson. Watson's band is called the Orphans of the Brazos; they appear on his 2005 album, Live at the Texas Hall of Fame. In 2006, his San Angelo release hit #60 on the U.S. Billboard country charts and #50 on its Heatseekers chart.

Later that year, Watson released a collection of gospel songs entitled Barbed Wire Halo which includes readings by Billy Joe Shaver. On April 1, 2008, Watson's 8th album, Angels & Outlaws, reached #4 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers chart, #28 on its Country Albums chart, and landed in the The Billboard Top 200. The album's debut single, "Hearts Are Breaking Across Texas", reached the #1 spot on the Texas Music Chart. "Love Makin' Song" was released later that year, and "Rollercoaster Ride" followed in 2009.

On September 15, 2009, Watson released Aaron Watson LIVE: Deep in the Heart of Texas, a dual disc CD/DVD set recorded live at the Hog Creek Ice House in Waco, TX on June 27, 2009.

On July 7, 2009, Watson performed at the 81st Texas FFA Convention in Dallas, Texas.

Raymond Charles "Ray" LaMontagne (born June 18, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter. Reportedly, after hearing a Stephen Stills song, LaMontagne decided to quit his job and pursue a career in music. He has since released four studio albums, Trouble, Till the Sun Turns Black, Gossip in the Grain and God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise. In the UK, Trouble was a top 5 hit, and the title track of the album was a top 25 hit. Till the Sun Turns Black was a top 40 hit in the U.S. A soft-spoken person who is known for his raspy voice, LaMontagne has won a number of awards for his music and has performed at several charity events.

Terry Gibbs - 3 albums

Terry Gibbs (born Julius Gubenko in 1924) is an American jazz vibraphonist and band leader.

He has performed and/or recorded with Tommy Dorsey, Chubby Jackson, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Benny Goodman, Louie Bellson, Charlie Shavers, Mel Torme, Buddy DeFranco, and others. Gibbs also worked in the film and TV studios in Los Angeles.

He was a popular guest on Star Time on the DuMont Television Network in 1950-51 and on The Steve Allen Show on television in the late 1950s where he regularly played lively vibraphone duets with the entertainer and composer. He also appeared on Steve Allen's 75th Birthday Celebration PBS-TV special in the United States in 1997. Gibbs was also the band leader on the short lived That Regis Philbin Show. As an instrumentalist, together with his big band The Dream Band, Gibbs has won prestigious polls, such as those of Downbeat and Metronome.

Complete is the third album by country music artist Lila McCann. Her final studio album to be released, it produced only one single on the Billboard country music charts in "Come a Little Closer". After that single failed to make Top 40 on the country charts, McCann exited Warner Bros. Records' roster. The track "Mighty Mighty Love" would later be recorded by Ty Herndon on his 2006 album Right About Now, from which it was released as a single. Additionally, "Because of You" would later be recorded by Celine Dion for limited editions of her 2002 album A New Day Has Come.

Chalee Tennison - Parading In The Rain (2003)

The country singer Chalee Tennison, born on April 11, 1969, was prison officer before starting his musical career in Nashville. Played with several bands of Texas until their demos interested to Jerry Taylor, a producer of Asylum Records. Following the signing of Asylum released a self-titled debut album which they released the single "Someone Else's Turn to Cry" (1999). His later works include "This Woman's Heart" (2000) and "Parading in the Rain" (2003). Tennison has been goingRias versions of country songwriters like Dean Dillon and Melissa Pierce.

One could argue with the inclusion or exclusion of certain songs or artists,
but with this boxed set you get 20 CDS, 400 SONGS of mostly fantastic country & western
(& a dash of bluegrass and "cowboy", and there's western swing and honky tonk, etc.)
music from the late 1920s to the early 1950s.

From Jimmie Rodgers to Hank Williams, from Bob Wills to Tennessee Ernie Ford,
from Gene Autry to Flatt & Scruggs, and on and on, this set is a superb way to jump-start your
classic country collection. If you're already a fan of this music and have cds by many of the
artists contained herein, you'll probably find some songs repeated from your current collection,
but you'll also find a swath of songs by more obscure artists than those mentioned here...
I certainly hadn't heard of Keith Loyd, Bill Strength or Andy Schroder.
The mastering/recording quality is generally pretty good.
Thanks go to this German record label for offering up this great old American music so affordably.

While Lyle Lovett's debut album is easily the closest he's ever come to making a straight country disc, right out of the box Lovett made it clear he was an eccentric in the great Texas tradition, and rather than sounding like the new boy in Nashville, he presented himself as the odd but likable distant relative of Guy Clark and Jesse Winchester. While &"This Old Porch" and &"If I Were the Man You Wanted" proved he could write a sincere and affecting song as well as anyone, they also made clear that he wasn't cut out for Nashville-style radio-ready singles, while the ironic &"Cowboy Man" and the wickedly cynical cheating song &"God Will" proved Lovett possessed a genius for taking traditional formulas and giving them a hard twist. The jazzy sway of &"An Acceptable Level of Ecstasy (The Wedding Song)" offers a witty and engaging preview of the blues-flavored sound Lovett would hone on later albums, and in this context the tunefully obsessive &"You Can't Resist It" sounds like the great pop hit he never had. While under Tony Brown's production (and with a team of Nashville session vets backing him up) some of the sharper edges of Lovett's musical personality were smoothed down, Lovett's reedy but soulful voice shines through, and a casual listen confirms that Lovett's music was just as strong as his lyrics. Along with Steve Earle's Guitar Town, Lyle Lovett was one of the most promising and exciting debut albums to come out of Nashville in the 1980s, and like Earle's album, this set a high bar for what would become an exciting and idiosyncratic career, proving first-rank singer/songwriters didn't just come from New York or Los Angeles.

This "pirate authorized" by the historic Flying Burrito Brothers is a gem. The short but intense life of the original FBB was the foundation on which we built a new musical genre, country-rock. Founded by Chris HIllman and Gram Parsons when they left The Byrds, burritos quickly became known for his great compositions, sincere voice, sequined cowboy costumes and a parade lineup changes.

This great concert was recorded by the might be called Flying Burrito Brothers version 2. Parsons and original bassist Chris Ethridge had left the group and was replaced by singer and songwriter Rick Roberts and the future "Eagle "Bernie Leadon. The former Byrd Michael Clarke on drums, and sesionero "Sneaky" Pete Kleinow, the pedal steel guitar.

Fans and critics have said that this was the best live lineup of the band, and the performance of this concert is a sample button. Combines rock with country, through a series of compositions ranging from two primary issuesmere records, issues of the Byrds, a composition by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards ("Wild Horses"), a classic Rhythm & Blues ("Willie and the Hand Jive"), and a great song of Country & Western ("Six Days on the Road "). This is country-rock andNo diapers, but also in their prime.

For this album, Chris Hillman wrote a short note, personally selected for the mastering engineer and approved his work. Recorded two years before his famous live album "Last of the Red Hot Burritos", may not be the last gRECORDING group, but one of the hottest

Dierks Bentley (born November 20, 1975 in Phoenix, Arizona) is an American country music artist who has been signed to Capitol Records Nashville since 2003. Jessie Keith Whitley (July 1, 1954 — May 9, 1989), known professionally as Keith Whitley, was an American country music singer. Whitley's brief career in mainstream country music lasted from 1984 until his death in 1989, but he continues to influence an entire generation of singers and songwriters. He charted nineteen singles on the Billboard country charts, including five consecutive Number Ones: "Don't Close Your Eyes", "When You Say Nothing at All", "I'm No Stranger to the Rain", "I Wonder Do You Think of Me" and "It Ain't Nothin'" (the last two posthumously).
