John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band is the name of an American rock band that started in 1964, and begun there career in the 1970s and through 1980s, from Narragansett, Rhode Island. Originally known as simply Beaver Brown, the group (consisting of John Cafferty (born ca. 1950) on vocals and rhythm guitar, Gary Gramolini on lead guitar, Patrick Lupo on bass, Kenny Jo Silva on drums, Bobby Cotoia on piano, and Michael "Tunes" Antunes on saxophone) started out as a New England bar band and initially established a popular following throughout Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. They also had a following at The Fast Lane and Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
They achieved their greatest fame when they performed the music of a "Springsteen-esque" fictional band in the 1983 movie Eddie and the Cruisers. The soundtrack album from the film reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced a #7 hit single ("On the Dark Side") on the Billboard Hot 100. "On the Dark Side" also held #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for five weeks.
The group's 1985 follow-up album Tough All Over made the top 50, getting some attention for "C.I.T.Y" and the title track, which became their second #1 single on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Another song from that album, "Voice of America's Sons", was the featured theme song on the official motion picture soundtrack of the movie Cobra, starring Sylvester Stallone. Subsequent releases were mostly sequels to the Eddie and the Cruisers concept, and Cafferty and the band faded from popular consciousness.
Prior to Cobra, Cafferty's "Heart's on Fire" was featured in another Stallone film, Rocky IV, and has been used in several parodies. They have been referenced in the Sean Connery/French Stewart/Burt Reynolds edition of Celebrity Jeopardy! on Saturday Night Live.
They still tour sporadically. On September 3, 2004, keyboardist Bobby Cotoia died due to complications from liver disease at the age of 50.

The Fourmost were originally known as the Blue Jays, then the Four Jays, and then the Four Mosts, before taking on the name under which they finally succeeded. Lead guitarist and singer Brian O'Hara (b. Liverpool, Mar. 12, 1942) and rhythm guitarist and singer Mike Millward (b. Bromborough, Cheshire, May 9, 1942) had a pleasing attack on their instruments and sang well enough, even harmonizing well, and with bassist/singer Billy Hatton (b. Liverpool, June 9, 1941) and drummer (and sometime singer) Dave Lovelady (b. Liverpool, Oct. 16, 1942), the Fourmost were one of the better combos working Liverpool in the early '60s. They could rock hard, with a crisp guitar sound and vocals that wailed convincingly, and Hatton's bass work had a nicely melodic sound -- the group lacked the distinctiveness of Gerry & the Pacemakers at their best, but were never as sappily sentimental as their major sub-Beatles Liverpool rivals could get, and had a livelier, leaner, and more refined sound than such competitors as the Swinging Blue Jeans.
The Fourmost's fortunes took a sharp turn upward in 1963 when they were given the nod by Brian Epstein and became a part of his stable of Liverpool-based acts. Their bookings improved and they were signed to EMI's Parlophone label, where they were recorded by George Martin. The band also got access to a pair of Lennon-McCartney originals ("Hello Little Girl," "I'm in Love") that got them noticed, and they peaked in April of 1964 with the single "A Little Lovin'," which got to number six in England. Unfortunately, none of the Fourmost were songwriters, and this left them at the mercy of outside inspiration and outside sources for songs, which quickly dried up as dozens of rival bands started covering the same material.
They also looked a bit stiff on-stage and on television, which was a problem as the bands around them got bolder in their presentations. Additionally, like a lot of early Liverpool acts, the Fourmost were oriented toward music careers that left room for cabaret-style humor, believing -- as had been the case before the Beatles -- that a band eventually branched out from straight-ahead rock & roll. Their music included a fair lacing of comedy tracks amid perfectly respectable covers of numbers like "The 'In' Crowd" and "Some Kind of Wonderful." Once the music around them began maturing in a different direction, into more advanced forms of rock & roll rather than toward pop, they found themselves on the outside looking in -- in 1965, while the Beatles were taking the first steps into the druggy ambience and the diverse folk and Indian sounds that would spice their second flourishing, and the Rolling Stones were shaking up the airwaves with "Satisfaction," the Fourmost were covering "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" (a great song, to be sure, but not exactly aiming high in ambition). With a few breaks and more focus, they might have been a somewhat more pop-oriented equivalent to the Action, but it wasn't to be.
The group never charted a single after the spring of 1964, despite an attempt in the summer of the 1966 to piggyback once more on the Beatles' work with a cover of "Here, There and Everywhere." The death of Mike Millward from leukemia in 1966 doomed the band's prospects, although Paul McCartney was still throwing some help their way as late as 1969. By then, they were fixtures on the cabaret circuit, and long since forgotten by most of the public.

Soul Miners Daughter is a fantastic, but not widely known band out of Atlanta, Georgia. The band was created around 1996, and started off as the duo of Jennifer Nettles and Cory Jones, who met through a high school performing arts troupe. After they had procured a backup band they released The Sacred and the Profane and in 1998, Hallelujah, both of which sold well. Eventually the two records resulted in over 20,000 sales.
The sound of the band is a mixture of soul, blues, country, and folk, and Nettles and Jones manage to create fantastic harmonies. The feel of the albums is nicely varied. Punchy, soulful, a cappella, are all styles of music evident on both albums and in fact, they are both self released. The feel is very down to earth, and while you can tell the band is not big, the feel of the music doesn't suffer from it, and in fact the lack of expense in the music helps it. Anyone who likes music from the likes of Sarah McLachlan or Blue Rodeo will definitely appreciate this band.
Sadly, Soul Miners Daughter was disbanded at the height of their popularity due to reported creative differences between Jones and Nettles. However, Jennifer Nettles has formed the Jennifer Nettles Band which includes every member of the original band except Jones.

The Manhattans are an American popular R&B vocal group, with a string of hit records spanning four decades. Their best known million-selling songs being "Kiss and Say Goodbye" and "Shining Star" in 1976 and 1980, respectively.
The Manhattans were formed in the early 60s in New Jersey as a quintet led by writer/bass vocalist Winfred "Blue" Lovett and emotive lead singer George Smith, along with Edward "Sonny" Bivins, Richard "Ricky" Taylor and Kenneth "Wally" Kelly, all of whom had just returned from service in the armed forces. The group was popular regionally and had minor national success on the strength of some solid recordings for Carnival Records (their version of the country tune "From Atlanta to Goodbye" was a gem) in the late 60s before gaining the attention of Columbia Records in 1970. Unfortunately, their Columbia signing coincided with the sudden illness and untimely death of lead singer Smith. During a tour through North Carolina, the Manhattans came upon a college student with an amazing Sam Cooke-like voice. Recognizing the incredible talent of this 21 year old, the group invited Gerald Alston to join, and he became the lead singer who would bring stardom to the quintet...

For a very brief time in 1964, it seemed that the biggest challenger to the Beatles' phenomenon was the Dave Clark Five. From the Tottenham area of London, the quintet had the fortune to knock "I Want to Hold Your Hand" off the top of the British charts with "Glad All Over," and were championed (for about 15 minutes) by the British press as the Beatles' most serious threat. They were the first British Invasion band to break in a big way in the States after the Beatles, though the Rolling Stones and others quickly supplanted the DC5 as the Fab Four's most serious rivals. The Dave Clark Five reached the Top 40 17 times between 1964 and 1967 with memorable hits like "Glad All Over," "Bits and Pieces," "Because," and a remake of Bobby Day's "Over and Over," as well as making more appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show than any other English act. The DC5 were distinguished from their British contemporaries by their larger-than-life production, Clark's loud stomping drum sound, and Mike Smith's leathery vocals. Though accused by detractors of lacking finesse and hipness, they had a solid ear for melodies and harmonies and wrote much of their early material, the best of which endured quite well. Interestingly, and unusually for that era, bandleader Dave Clark managed and produced the band himself, negotiating a much higher royalty rate than artists of that period usually received. After a couple years of superstardom, the group proved unable to either keep up with the changing times or maintain a high standard of original compositions, and called it quits in 1970.

Eddie And The Cruisers 1983 OST
This sequel to the rock & roll mystery Eddie and the Cruisers explains many of the questions concerning the mysterious death of 1960s rocker Eddie Wilson, who with his Cruisers was celebrating the success of their first album when he got in a terrible car wreck, from which his body was never recovered. Also missing were the masters from the group's upcoming second album. This story begins 25-years later as Eddie Wilson is found living in Montreal under an assumed name. At this time, the masters from the second album are finally released and suddenly the whole continent is caught up in a resurgence of "Eddiemania." This inspires Wilson, who continues to use an alias, to form a new band and hit the road. Once again, his music is provided by John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band.

Randy Newman
C.W. Post College
Greenvale, NY
Friday, March 25, 2011
Randall Stuart "Randy" Newman (born November 28, 1943) is an American singer/songwriter, arranger, composer, and pianist who is known for his mordant (and often satirical) pop songs and for film scores.
Newman often writes lyrics from the perspective of a character far removed from Newman's own experiences. For example, the 1972 song "Sail Away" is written as a slave trader's sales pitch to attract slaves, while the narrator of "Political Science" is a U.S. nationalist who complains of worldwide ingratitude toward America and proposes a brutally ironic final solution. One of his biggest hits, "Short People" was written from the perspective of "a lunatic" who hates short people. Since the 1980s, Newman has worked mostly as a film composer. His film scores include Ragtime, Awakenings, The Natural, Leatherheads, James and the Giant Peach, Meet the Parents, Seabiscuit and The Princess and the Frog. He has scored six Disney-Pixar films: Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Cars and most recently Toy Story 3.
He has been awarded two Academy Awards, three Emmys, five Grammy Awards, and the Governor's Award from the Recording Academy. Newman was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002. In 2007, Newman was inducted as a Disney Legend. In 2011, Newman won his second Oscar, for the song "We Belong Together" from Toy Story 3 at the 83rd Academy Awards.

Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash
"What this music is about is a refusal to let the best of our American past - our best music, deepest traditions and truest friendships - simply slip out of our lives. It's a gospel ballard, "We Remember The King," with Johnny Cashs' baritone rumbling with the force of ages, that most forcefully reminds us that our past and our losses remain a living part of our present.
It's not just the aching remembrance of things sad and past that marks the spirit of this record, though. There's also the pure rowdy fun of Memphis rock 'n' roll kicking and swinging in these grooves. Whether it's Lewis storming with swaggering bravado through "Keep My Motor Running" or Perkins ripping off those mean, sputtering guitar solos in "The Birth of Rock 'N' Roll," the Memphis beat lives, forever young."

On the edge of knowing whats best for you, and knowing what you would rather be doing, we have all found ourselves on The Leaving Side Of Gone at one point in time or the another. This record was recorded shortly after I had just made the move of quitting a pretty well established band I helped start to go out on my own, and try to do things my way for the better or the worse. Sometimes you just gotta step out of your comfortable zone, and put everything on the line. Thats what this record is about. Taking chances for something that you believe in. I wrote all of the 12 songs on it, and they tell the story of average people struggling to find out who they are, and what they should be doing in this world. Some for better, and some for worse. I set out to make a simple country album not glitzy like modern "pop" country, but rather real honest to goodness undilluted heartache, and honkytonk. I think I achieved that at the very least, and hope you will like the outcome as well!

"This record is a time capsule," says Kelley, who wrote or co-wrote each of the album's 11 songs. "It's by far the best thing I've written and I've never been more proud. I'm finally in a genre where I can write lyrics, tell stories and be a man." Along with writing/co-writing Georgia Clay, Kelley also co-produced the album with Nashville's Clint Lagerberg.
"My life has completely changed," he says. "My wife is a very strong independent woman and she allows me my own independence. And from the first time my baby girl brushed her hand against my face, my life was changed. This album reflects those changes."
The sentimental "Naleigh Moon," a song written for and about his daughter, poignantly depicts the intense connection between a father and daughter. "We'd only had Naleigh for a couple of weeks when I wrote this and I think it's the best song I've ever written," he explains. "The way the chords and the melody intertwine, it really tugs on your heartstrings. When I sang that song in the studio, I really meant it."
"It's funny how if you keep working hard and trying, an opportunity comes around, and thank God it did. We're gonna get to move back here to Nashville, and this is where I'll be the rest of my life."
Product Description
Josh Kelley's debut country release, Georgia Clay, is an intriguing collection of songs that serve as a musical interpretation of his life story, a vivid exploration of the people and places that molded him into who he is today. Kelley is co-producer of Georgia Clay with Clint Lagerberg.
His most autobiographical project to date, the album powerfully captures the most important moments of his life, including his marriage to actress Katherine Heigl, their adoption of a daughter, Naleigh, and the family's move to Utah.

If you ask Ryan Beaver why he titled his new record Constant, he will smile and reply with a response that leaves no question about what matters most to this 26-year-old Austin, Texas based singer/songwriter. "Our lives are always changing and evolving," says Beaver, "but some things remain constant. My faith, family, friends, and passion for music never change and they make me who I am." Constant, Beaver’s sophomore record, displays ten tracks, all of which have been written since the release of his debut album, Under The Neons. In that time Beaver has toured the Southwest, released three radio singles, collaborated with many known songwriters, and has been able to connect with thousands of fans. He has started a journey to take his music as far as he can, a journey in which he sees no limits. Playing his songs for anyone willing to listen and catching the attention of those who truly appreciate the craft of songwriting are a significant part of that journey. When asked his expectations for Constant, he laughs and says, “I just hope I can make enough money to pay for this project and maybe have enough for the next one.” Music is a sacred and powerful thing in Beaver’s eyes. This is reflected by the melodies and lyrics he has constructed, giving one a glimpse into his inner most thoughts and feelings. With a passion that is Constant and a guitar in hand, Ryan Beaver’s journey looks to be a promising one.

You can’t listen to this freewheeling Texas singer and songwriter long without becoming thoroughly convinced that he’s a full-blooded relative of Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb and Merle Haggard. Waylon Jennings’ famous observation about Grand Ole Opry standard-bearer Porter Wagoner -- “he couldn’t go pop with a mouthful of firecrackers" -- is equally true of Hayes Carll. There’s an unself-conscious commitment to his rural Southern heritage in everything he sings.
He spins a yarn with fresh wit, details a failure with unflinching honesty, and everything in between remains admirably cliche-free.
“Hard Out Here” breathes life into the well-trod genre of life on the road. Carll confesses: “Everybody’s talking 'bout the shape I’m in/They say, ‘Boy you ain’t a poet, you’re just a drunk with a pen’/It gets hard out here, I know it don’t look it/I used to have heart, but the highway took it.” "Chances Are” is a classic country weeper that exhibits the revealing, economical turn of phrase that writers such as Haggard, Willie Nelson and John Prine have mastered: “Chances are I took the wrong turn every time I had a turn to take/And I guess I broke my own heart every chance I had a heart to break.”
Carll is every bit as expressive a singer as he is a writer, drawling his trenchant observations with deceptive ease. The phrase “the real deal” is bandied about a lot in country music, but in Carll’s case, as Walter Brennan used to say, it’s “no brag, just fact.”

Alison Krauss helped bring bluegrass to a new audience in the '90s. Blending bluegrass with folk, Krauss was instantly acclaimed from the start of her career, but it wasn't until her platinum-selling 1995 compilation Now That I've Found You that she became a mainstream star. Between her 1987 debut Too Late to Cry and Now That I've Found You, she matured from a child prodigy to a versatile, ambitious, and diverse musician and, in the process, made some of the freshest bluegrass of the late '80s and early '90s.
When she was five years old, Krauss began playing the violin, taking classical lessons. She soon tired of the regimen of classical playing and began performing country and bluegrass licks. At the age of eight, she began entering talent contests in and around her native Champaign, IL. Two years later, she had her own band. In 1983, when she was 12 years old, she won the Illinois State Fiddle Championship and the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America named her the Most Promising Fiddler in the Midwest. In 1985, Krauss made her recording debut on an album, playing on a record made by her brother Viktor, Jim Hoiles, and Bruce Weiss. The album was called Different Strokes and appeared on the independent Fiddle Tunes label. Later that year, she signed to Rounder Records. She was 14 years old at the time.

Lucinda Williams
Lucinda Williams (born January 26, 1953) is an American rock, folk, blues and country music singer and songwriter. She recorded her first albums in 1978 and 1980 in a traditional country and blues style and received very little attention from radio, the media, or the public. In 1988, she released her self-titled album, Lucinda Williams. This release featured "Passionate Kisses", a song later recorded by Mary Chapin Carpenter which garnered Lucinda her first Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1994. Known for working slowly, Lucinda recorded and released only one other album in the next several years (Sweet Old World in 1992) before her greatest success came in 1998 with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. This album presented a broader scope of songs that fused rock, blues, country, and Americana into a more distinctive style that still managed to remain consistent and commercial in sound. It went gold and earned Lucinda another Grammy while being universally acclaimed by critics. Since Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, she has released a string of albums that have also been critically acclaimed, though none have sold in the numbers of her 1998 breakthrough. She was also named "America's best songwriter" by TIME magazine in 2002.

Aaron Holt has made his way in and around the world of music via a route not unlike many of his peers, finding not only a knowledge and appreciation of music itself but also the highways (and even flyways) a young man must travel to play, promote, support and of course write his stories in song. Today he stands out as an ambitious and well-traveled writer, an accomplished, versatile, and entertaining presence on stageand in the studio. Since departing his childhood home in West Virginia for Nashville, Holt has toured nationally (and even internationally) as a drummer, guitarist, and backup singer for several Nashville acts. His own shows have taken him up and down the road throughout Texas and the southeast ... he has been featured on radio stations across Texas, opened for the likes of Cory Morrow, Reckless Kelly, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Chris Knight, and appeared on compilation CDs alongside some of the genre's biggest stars. For around five years Holt settled in the Brazos Valley area. Holt toured Texas towns and venues both big and small from the panhandle to the gulf coast as well as Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, West Virginia and Tennessee. He released his debut CD ”JURISDICTION” on Stormy Weather Records (a small imprint co-owned by Holt and Stormy Cooper). During a long running gig as the host of a songwriter showcase in Bryan, Texas Aaron had many guests including Chris Knight, Slade Cleaves, Adam Carroll, Max Stalling, Phil Pritchett, and the John Evans Band. He was also able to break through into several radio markets with singles from his record including Bake, Stay Here Awhile, and Got Somewhere To Go. Holt has also made his production debut on his friend and co-writer's first record, Mike Ethan Messick’s “Bootlegger’s Turn”. Aaron made his way back to nashville in the summer of 06 to write and produce and work as much as humanly possible in the music buisness. He is currently working on a new cd project that hopes to be ready for download and purchase soon. Holt is also the drummer and band leader for Blue steel recording artist Anna Garrott. With much accomplished and much left to do, Holt is a busy man, playing gigs full time as well as raising children with his high school sweetheart angela, and more than likely coming to a venue near you soon.

Alt.-country angel Pauline Reese’s sixth album, JUST GETTING STARTED (Front Porch Music Group; Oct. 19, 2010), and its first single, “First Love,” both showcase a voice called “top-notch” by those in the know, and Willie Nelson calls her “my favorite female artist.” The name of the new album — co-produced by the highly acclaimed Justin Pollard, who co-wrote Pat Green’s “Wave on Wave” hit — reflects Reese’s status on the Up Side of Life, including this year being the first woman named Entertainer of the Year by the Texas Music Association. Playing more than 150 shows a year with her band, Reese has carved her name in the male-dominated music business, touring with such notable Texas acts as Cory Morrow, Jack Ingram, Kevin Fowler and Green. A magnetic stage presence, quick wit and incredible beauty are just bonuses for audiences at her energetic live shows.

Mark Olson's first proper solo album, 2007's The Salvation Blues, was written and recorded in the wake of a powerfully traumatic romantic breakup, and as beautiful as it often was, the pain that inspired it was never far from the surface. Following a collaboration with his former partner in the Jayhawks, Gary Louris (2008's Ready for the Flood), Many Colored Kite finds Olson making music on his own again, and though these songs appear to be the work of a stronger and happier man, this remains a deeply introspective set of songs, with a keenly spiritual undertow running through these meditations on love, nature, and humanity. Beau Raymond produced these recordings, and the sound is simple and uncluttered, dominated by acoustic guitars and Olson's voice, and even when the album gingerly dips its toes into rock & roll, the music maintains a steady hand and a touch that's careful not to lean too hard on the tunes. Olson's vocals remain clear and impassioned, but there's a wary fragility in his voice that sets these performances apart from his early work, and the melodic twists and turns of "Morning Dove," "More Hours," and "Kingsnake" are ambitious and challenging, a clear departure from the sunnier mood of his work with the Original Harmony Ridge Creek Dippers and the lovely Midwestern plains of the Jayhawks. And as Olson emphatically declares "Praise the love, praise the light of the day" in "Morning Dove" or "There's a light that shines, there are dreams untold" in "No Time to Live Without Her," the lyrics carry a palpable subtext that Olson is seeking solace in divine love as well as more earthly comforts. Many Colored Kite is far from a carefree album, but if the backstory of The Salvation Blues was one of heartbreak, this music is about healing, and Olson's journal of emotional recovery is honest, compelling, and dotted with moments of unexpected joy, none more powerful than his evocative recollection of a childhood memory in "Wind and Rain." Not as cohesive as The Salvation Blues, Many Colored Kites is still a worthy and brave album that finds Mark Olson continuing to find new ways of sharing what life has taught him through his music.

At age 22, Texas singer, songwriter and guitarist JOHNNY COOPER is already a well-traveled musician, having released two albums--with 2007’s IGNITION selling over 25,000 copies--and performed over 1,000 shows, averaging 200 a year.
His new album FOLLOW (Tenacity Records) is an evocative blend of soul, blues, rock and pop that’s exemplified by the first single “Bring Me Down.” Over the song’s deep groove and buzzing guitars, COOPER lays down the law:
"You say my music’s got too much edge
Well hell yeah, that’s how I was taught
Screaming guitars and people up on the bars
That’s the way we like to rock
For some reason you’ll always look at me
Just like I’m a kid
Why you creeping around out back
Watching every little thing I did”
The disc expands on the style for which COOPER became known--“red dirt,” a Texas and Oklahoma southern rock, country and blues hybrid--and was produced by Glenn Rosenstein and Dexter Green. Rosenstein has either produced or co-produced such artists as Ziggy Marley, Jill Sobule and Michelle Shocked and engineered songs by James Brown, Talking Heads and Sting. Green’s credits include co-writing and producing the Collective Soul 2004 hit “Better Now.”
“Well, it still is ‘red dirt,’ it still is rock, it still is funk, pop, Texas country, R&B, it is still more than anything, me,” explains COOPER about FOLLOW.

West Virginia State Fairgrounds, Fairlea, WV
PGA Greenbrier Classic Concert Series, Carrie Underwood opened
Rascal Flatts and Reba also played earlier in the week
"Alcohol" has a "Country Roads(Take Me Home)" interpolation at the end. "Waiting On A Woman" and "Whiskey Lullaby" both contain samples of the Andy Griffith and Allison Krauss parts from their respective music video and studio version. @ signifies a short solo acoustic set. The song title for t15 is a guess. The noise that is audible during t5-t16 is rain hitting the poncho I had on to protect my equipment. It is most noticable when it first appears and gets better later. If your playback system has a high filter type option that will help. Peaks reduced at 16:06, 16:07, 16:13. Carrie Underwood did not get taped other than what is here due to terrible concert traffic. The Underwood track includes interpolations of "White Liar" and "All The Single Ladies," and was recorded with the DR-07 internals. The PGA Greenbrier Classic spectator parking and concert parking were both at the West Virginia State Fairgrounds. The letter with the tickets said to leave time for concert/parking traffic but didn't suggest that I would be held up 2.5 hours going into the venue. Lesson learned - Don't give the PGA money to put on concerts. Don't let my negative notes discourage you, the Brad Paisley set is great and sound is really nice considering he doesn't get taped much.

Emerson Drive - Decade Of Drive - 10 Years Of Hits 2011
Emerson Drive is a band founded in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada in 1995. The band is Brad Mates (lead vocals), Danick Dupelle (guitars and backing vocals), Mike Melancon (drums), Dale Wallace (keyboards and backing vocals), and David Pichette (fiddle).
Early on, the band found minor success in Canada, releasing two albums under the name of 12 Gauge, the first Open Season was a product of winning a local "Battle of the Bands" contest. They then charted two singles on the Canadian country charts and a music video on CMT. By 1999, they changed the name to Emerson Drive, and had moved to Nashville, Tennessee to find a major label record deal. Emerson Drive recorded two albums on the DreamWorks Records label, and charted several hits on both the U.S. and Canadian country music charts. After DreamWorks' collapse in 2005, Emerson Drive signed to Midas Records Nashville, where they resumed their streak of hit singles, including their first Number One single in "Moments". In summer 2008, Midas Records closed their country division. Emerson Drive then signed with The Valory Music Co. and the CD which Emerson Drive had been working on, Believe, became a co-partnership with Midas Records, who kept ownership of the CD while The Valory Music Co. was in charge of promotion and distribution of Emerson Drive and Believe.

This is the follow up album to the famous Nothing Sacred album. This is a must have for any DAC fan, it maybe elusive and hard to find a good copy of, but can be done. The songs are very funny, & witty. This cd is not for the faint of heart. David is not a racist, as another person seems to think, David even has a black person in his band. This is recommended for all die hard DAC fans.

Charley Pride – Tribute To Jim Reeves [Australian Version] 2001
This is one of the best albums of tribute that has been published. Willie Nelson’s tribute to Lefty Frizzell and of course, Merle Haggard, who can sing just about anyone are about the only ones that compare. Most tribute albums are by various artists and you may hit 50% if you are fortunate as to who can really sing the songs. This album is a must for all Jim Reeves and Charley Pride fans. The velvety voice of Charley Pride not only performs with his usual excellence but brings back the memories of the Gentlemen Jim Reeves in a way that only Charley can produce.

Formed in 1968 in Los Angeles, California, by the brothers Pat Vasquez (bass and vocals) and Lolly Vasquez (guitar and vocals), the name Redbone itself is a joking reference to a Cajun term for a mixed-race person, the band's members being of mixed blood ancestry. The band referenced Cajun and New Orleans culture many times in their lyrics and performing style. Pat and Lolly adopted the stage surname Vegas prior to the formation of the band, in part to downplay the Latin American association of their birth surname, Vasquez.
Redbone played primarily rock music with R&B, Cajun, Jazz, tribal, and Latin roots. Their first commercial success came with the single "Maggie" from their second album, Potlatch, in 1970, and two other hit singles followed - "The Witch Queen of New Orleans" (1971) and "Come and Get Your Love" (1974). Lolly Vegas was one of the first guitarists to make extensive use of the distinctive Leslie rotating speaker effect in his electric guitar amplification setup. Vegas played improvised, jazz-influenced guitar. Drummer Peter DePoe (born 1943, Neah Bay, Washington, D.C.) is credited with pioneering the "King Kong" style of drumming, which features sharply accented polyrhythms involving the bass and snare drums and is similar to funk styles of drumming. The band referred to DePoe's "King Kong Beat" in their lyrics to the song "Prehistoric Rhythm" on their debut album.
In 1973 Redbone released the politically oriented "We were all wounded at Wounded Knee", recalling the massacre of Lakota Sioux Indians by the Seventh Cavalry in 1890. The song ends with the subtly altered sentence "We were all wounded by Wounded Knee". The song reached the #1 chart position in Europe but did not chart in the U.S. where it was initially withheld from release and then banned by several radio stations.[citation needed]
Original drummer Peter DePoe left to be replaced by Butch Rillera. Following this the band achieved commercial success with the songs "Come and Get Your Love" and "We Were All Wounded At Wounded Knee.". Tony Bellamy (guitar, piano and vocals) was forced to retire due to illness.[citation needed]
The band's current remaining membership is led by Pat Vegas alone (Lolly left in 1995, Tony Bellamy sometime after that), Raven Hernandez (guitar, vocals and songwriter) joined Redbone in 1996 to replace Lolly Vegas after he suffered a stroke that left him unable to tour with the band. Although Redbone has had some limited activity in recent years, their songwriting and touring output is slight compared with that of the early 1970s. A proposed reunion tour in 2003 did not occur.
Evidence suggests the existence of an "imposter band" illegally touring the United States and posing as Redbone under the name (or alias) "Denny Freeman". Freeman, who Pat Vegas confirmed to be unaffiliated with Redbone in an interview with the Montana Standard, most recently defrauded the county-fair board of the Butte Silver-Bow County Fair in Butte, Montana under pretenses of being a co-founding member of Redbone, yet he was never a band member.(News Article).
In the 1980s Tony Bellamy (born Anthony Avila)formed, with his cousin Butch Rillera, the band "Bimbam", which performed several times at Medley's in Fountain Valley, CA.
The Little Rock, Arkansas based wireless telecommunications company Alltel uses "Come and Get Your Love" as the main jingle for its US television commercials.

Michael Bolton (angl. of Michael Bolton, frozen crust of snow. the name is Michael Bolotin, family. on February, 26 1953) is the American singer of the Russian origin, performer of slow love ballads in style of the white («blue-eyed») soul. Educated on music of such grandees, as Ray Charles and Marvin Gaye.
The first single of Bolton wrote down on a firm Epic in 1968, but a debut album appeared only in a 1975-mcode, in his record took part Bernard Purdie, David Sanborn and Wayne Perkins. Reviews on a plate were restrained, although critics and marked obvious likeness of voices of Bolton and Joe Cocker.
Changing in 30 years the last name and writing for Laura Branigan the hit of «How Am I Supposed to Live without you», purchased a fame. In a flow a few subsequent years of Michael invented songs for Shear, Barbra Streisand and row of other stars. On a border 1990th Bolton attained world success, overmastering the top of the American charts and winning a few bonuses of ‘’Grammy award’’ - caver-version of soul-hits
In spite of out standings vocal information of artist, his predilection to remake discontented conservatives from soul-music, calling to boycott his making and listen classic hits, but not «Bolton’s substitute». Last large hit of Bolton, «Said I Loved you. But I Lied», was produced in 1994, and two months after his creation became the article of loud judicial trial, which it was set during, that a classic melody is fixed in basis of one of songs ..

Soaring toward the top of the Texas music scene, award-winner Roger Creager has exhibited the perseverance and stick-with-it quality that is necessary when blazing one's own trail in country music. By the time he was six years old, Creager had set his heart on creating country music. Young Creager would sing at the top of his lungs when by himself, and was often found acting like a conductor throughout his school years. He began his formal musical training while in second grade playing the piano, and picked up the guitar during high school. During his teens he continued singing, mostly to himself due to shyness, and played with songwriting but didn't share his efforts with others.

Honeybrowne has made its mark on the Texas music scene and beyond by going song by song, gig by gig, album by album and Mile By Mile, as the title of the band’s latest CD declares. Singer, songwriter and group leader Fred Andrews and his musical compadres come by their sound and success honestly, drawing from a rich palette of inspirations and then going out and road-testing the music they create to ensure that it makes a genuine connection with music-loving listeners. Combining good ole hard work with a vibrant love for the magic of music, Honeybrowne keep their eyes on the prize of being better and better each time out. So how does the band follow “this year’s first must-hear,” as Entertainment News & Views said of their last release, the aptly titled Something To Believe In? Answer: With a new album that enriches and expands the Honeybrowne sound on a set of even stronger songs that are bound to travel with you Mile By Mile for years to come. Co-produced by Andrews and Austin recording whiz Mark Addison (who produced Something To Believe In), the album is Honeybrowne’s most vital and varied yet. It boasts everything from expansive country-rock anthems like the title song and “Love Wanted” to the twangy trot of “Bowling Green” and the bluegrass-flavored “Line Sinker and Hook.” Andrews and drummer Stephen Bres celebrate their recent new fatherhood on the CD’s most touching number, “Personal Lullaby,” which they co-wrote. But happy family man Andrews also shows that he hardly forgets how heartache feels on “Yesterday’s News,” “Left Me A Mess” and “Trouble’s Got a Thing For Me.” From the opening plea of “Help Me Find My Way” to the closing two-step romp “Put That Ring Back On Your Finger,” Mile By Mile lands right within the musical sweet spot where country, rock and pop meet. Mile By Mile brings a studio sound richness and live show presence and immediacy to the listener’s living room — or car, truck, iPod or MP3 player, anywhere you play it — because it was actually recorded in Andrews’s living room. As the band recorded song demos there, he so loved the sound they got that he suggested to Addison that they track the album with the band at his house. “We went at it for four days and came out with a wonderful sounding record with a great vibe,” enthuses Andrews. “I don’t think we could have made it sound that good in the studio. It’s the best sounding record we’ve done.” It’s also the most collaborative, with Honeybrowne guitarist Josh Owen and drummer Bres — since departed to attend law school — contribute to the songwriting and longtime bassist Jake Blackwell carries on in his band role as MVP on the sessions as well as the road. Andrews continues his fruitful song collaborations with Addison and David Neuhauser and also pens a number with Nashville country-rock rabble-rouser Trent Summar. “I don’t wanna write a song that could be great and have it be anything less than it should,” says Andrews of his enjoyment of co-writing songs. To get to the core of Fred Andrews and his songwriting, Texas is indeed where to begin, in the town of Victoria, to be exact, where Andrews was born and spent his early years. In the Lone Star tradition, music was loved and played around the home: His father plays guitar and piano, his mother is also a pianist and plays violin, and his grandfather was handy with the mandolin, violin and banjo. Andrews played drums from age three, later took a few piano lessons and finally settled on the guitar. Andrews was raised square within the Texas musical tradition, but his Chicago bred father also instilled in his son his love of respected pop masters like Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Billy Joel and others. Then Fred later found his own favorites like The Replacements, R.E.M and U2. “I think my songwriting reflects a combination of my Texas music heroes and all the other stuff I listen to,” he explains. Teen years in Charleston, West Virginia also expended Andrews’s musical horizons, in good part thanks to the syndicated NPR concert show “Mountain Stage” based there, which exposed Andrews at its tapings to the creme de la creme of singer-songwriters as well the coolest alterative acts of the day. “I always liked music a lot more than anyone else I knew,” says Andrews, who finally took up the guitar in his early college years at West Virginia University and started getting serious about playing, singing and writing songs while finishing school at Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University). “I really didn’t know how to play other people’s music so much, so I made up my own. I thought songwriting was really fun.” A gathering of friends onstage at a local bar started out as “just playing, drinking, having a good time and singing all the songs we knew and ones we made up as we went along,” Andrews recalls. “Then all our friends showed up and then all of their friends showed up. We would draw 500 to 600 people every Tuesday and packed the place for a year.” When the ad hoc group landed the opening slot at a campus concert by then Texas favorites Jackopierce, they needed a band name and grabbed Honeybrowne from a beer coaster as their handle. By the time Andrews graduated he gathered his first serious core of players — including his college pal, bassist Shade Deggs, now with Columbia recording artists Cole Deggs & The Lonesome — and stepped out into the thriving Texas live music scene. Debuting on CD in 2001 with Finding Shade, produced by former Loggins & Messina drummer Merel Bregante, Honeybrowne picked up airplay out of the box with “Texas Angel” and “Deeper Shade of Blue” on Houston’s KIKK and other Texas stations. A live album tracked at the famed Satellite Lounge in Houston followed and then another studio disc, 2003’s Good For Nuthin’, consolidated the band’s stature as rising stars with their own sound within the booming Texas music movement. “I’ve been making my living with music since about 2001,” Andrews notes. “I may not be driving a Porsche, but I sure am enjoying it. It’s a great day job and night job. “I think a lot of bands do their learning in garages or the rehearsal hall,” he continues. “I’ve done a lot mine by getting out there and playing for people.” The wisdom of his chosen path paid off when Andrews hooked up with noted Austin producer, songwriter and artist-in-his-own-right Mark Addison and came up with the band’s most definitive statement yet in 2006 on Something To Believe In. Harp magazine noted how “their tunes sport more hooks than a fisherman’s hat” and praised Andrews as “a master of witty wordplay and pithy turns of phrase, with a winning ability to wring real emotion out of a lyric.” All Music Guide invoked names like The Mavericks and Steve Earle in its review of the CD, also likening Andrews’s vocals to masterful singer Chris Isaak. Now on Mile By Mile, Honeybrowne and Addison take the music to yet another higher and more engaging level. Although Andrews earned himself a pole vault scholarship to college, as a musician he has shifted strides to become a long-distance runner. “I feel like I have a long way to go and that I’m making progress, and I love it,” he explains. “I feel like I’m learning so much with every song I write and every album I make, and that I’m singing better and playing guitar better. “We’re not trying to get a record deal from Nashville, we’re not trying to have a big entourage and big bus, though those are neat things. I never wanted to be major label act playing arenas with a 10-piece band. I’d love to instead have something like John Hiatt’s career. If that were ever bestowed on me, I would feel like I’d lived 100 lives,” Andrews says. “We’re just trying to keep it real and all about what we got into it for,” he adds. “The whole theme is to keep it real, keep it basic, keep it on the road. And to keep improving and perfecting what we do. I’ve done it my way, the only way I can and know how. No one gave me a book. I’ve learned so much more doing it this way than having someone steer me.” And ultimately, Andrews admits, “I’m a lifer. I’m now 12 years into it and I’m still into it, step by step.” And Mile By Mile, making music that travels the distance from Texas to the rest of the world.

James "Jim" Hendricks (born February 10, 1940) is an American folk musician. Born in Atkinson, Nebraska, Hendricks began playing guitar and lap steel guitar in his youth, and began performing publicly while working as a teacher in Omaha, Nebraska in the early 1960s. One of his shows was attended by Cass Elliot, who invited Hendricks to join her and Tim Rose in the New York folk group The Big 3. The group was successful playing The Bitter End, touring with comedian Bill Cosby and appearing on The Tonight Show.
Hendricks was married to Elliot in 1963 (the couple divorced in 1969). In 1964, Elliot and Hendricks started the folk group The Mugwumps, which included Denny Doherty, John Sebastian and Zal Yanovsky. The group lasted eight months before Sebastian and Yanovsky formed The Lovin' Spoonful and Doherty and Elliot would become one-half of The Mamas & the Papas. Hendricks moved to Los Angeles and formed The Lamp of Childhood, which released three singles on Dunhill Records in 1966–67 without success. He improved his songwriting while with the band, and after leaving it penned "Summer Rain", a hit for Johnny Rivers, and "Long Lonesome Highway", theme song of the television series Then Came Bronson.
Hendricks eventually moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the 1970s and began touring with family and writing contemporary Christian music. Hendricks plays guitar, mandolin, dobro and autoharp and has recorded over 50 albums spanning a variety of styles, mainly Americana, country and contemporary Christian, including several instrumental albums for Benson Records and later Maple Street Music, a label he co-founded in 1996.

Bearfoot was a Juno Award-nominated Canadian rock band, founded by Jim Atkinson, Terry Danko, Dwayne Ford, Hugh Brockie and Brian Hilton. Initially going by "Atkinson, Danko and Ford", they changed their name out of practicality and because they didn't want to sound as though they were a law-firm. They released three albums and five singles.
