I first heard these guys last night (New Year's Eve) They're from Halifax, Nova Scotia.
What do you get when you cross The Rankins with The Pogues and add a dash of traditional Celtic music? The Stanfields', Vanguard Of The Young & Reckless.
The Stanfields mix drunken reels on tracks like "The Dirtiest Drunk (In The History Of Liquor)" with commentaries on war ("Ship To Shore"), murder ("Jimmy No More"), drug-smuggling ("Ghost Of The Eastern Seaboard") and broken relationships ("Crocodile Tears") to create a foot-stomping singalong album that is somehow boozy and sobering
