Katie's new camera 2.5" screen, 5mp, tiny little thing. I took this with a Canon S400, in my hand there is an SD450 - several evolutions later. Katie had a SD400, the one after the S400, but before the SD450. She recently lost it, so this is her replacement camera. I suggested that she could have "my" S400 and that I could then get a new camera, but that didn't go over so well since apparently "my" S400 is ghetto. Works well enough for me. The next version, the SD600 has the same size screen, and more megapixels, but the screen has a higher resolution - AND it was cheaper on Amazon - but it was backordered and Katie wanted her replacement now... so here's this one. Portland Portraits 18 Self-Portrait Series I - Portland Portraits - 18 - Cynosure 1.3 Megapixel Samsung Camera Phone This is from a series of close-up self portraits I took with my 1.3 megapixel camera phone in downtown Portland, Or, around 7 in the morning on Saturday, June 16th, 2007. This is the strongest of my shots from this photo shoot, although it is also the most traditional, in terms of art photography. Here I have placed myself below the sculpture found across from Powell's bookstore (the center of my Portland universe, from which all other places are measured), and photographed my neck outstretched, my face in worship to the morning sky. The curves and angles of my face, almost perfectly match with those of the sculpture, further evoking my human & object, created and creator, theme that I sought to stitch this work together with. Here the beauty of the natural form compliments and is likewise complimented by the beauty of the inorganic sculpture. I was also rather proud of lining this piece up almost perfectly, since I was unable to look the at the screen image or even the lens of the camera while taking the shot. New Cell Phone Sony K750i - 2.0 megapixel camera with autofocus and some cool features. I am still not sold on the quality, but it's been better than most cameraphones so far. This is me at work - I gave the phone to Martin who sits across from me. Brighton Wheel "I see nothing in space as promising as the view from a Ferris wheel." The new Big Wheel along Brighton seafront. Had a drive over to Brighton to check out this new addition to Brighton's skyline and get some night shots. Got quite a few good ones at all different angles but thought I would start off with this picture of the front. Thanks to my Sigma 10-20 I could get up close and low and still squeeze it all in. Even though it was dark out the wheel was very bright so struggled to get very long exposures so I put on my polariser and and chose the smallest aperture I could which was f/22, this gave me an exposure time of 4 seconds on this particular shot. My camera was on my tripod and fired via cable release. For your ultimate spinning experience press 'L' on your keyboard. All set for the evening session I had a pretty central view of the action for the Thursday evening's second semi final, and you can see the tunnel the players walk through to come on stage. You can also see the two cameras on wheels that give you the table shots as well as a tripod for a third camera that does table close ups as well. The mount can be released quickly so that the cameraman can go up to the players' seats and get those moody shots in between frames. Polaroid 440 Land Camera and Coffee I have been wanting to use this camera for some time as this was my mother's favorite of her cameras. Even after she switched to a 35mm camera, she would periodically get this camera out and exercise it. That must have paid off, as the camera is still functional. I have now figured out how to power the meter without having to modify the camera or locate and buy the expensive replacement battery. I plan on getting some Fuji FP-100C and FP-100B film and shooting some exposures. my new toy - excuse the dust. Panasonic LX3. it's the cheaper version of the Leica D-Lux 4. Same body. No Zeiss lens. Still seems to be a pretty ridiculously great point & shoot. options to shoot 16:9, 4:3, or 3:2. a ton of manual control. f2.0 24mm wide angle. it can apparently shoot as close as a cm from subject. my eyes are horribly bloodshot. so test shoot of this idea is a little scary. other things i noticed already. it has an option for exposure-bracketing! press the shutter once and it'll snap off 3 shots. ur designated exposure plus 1 up and 1 down (in point-n-shoot speak). as well as the ability to shoot a picture simultaneously in all 3 aspect ratios. this might be the poor man's version. but as it is a camera that i just want in my bag all the time (i am constantly in places where my D300 is a little too much).. this camera is practically a luxury. Huge Con: it doesn't adapt too well to iPhoto. You can't transfer nor edit raw files without its given program. And while it can import jpegs to iPhoto, you can only delete by manually deleting on your camera. At least there is a multi-delete. But the idea of Panasonic Raw files being so difficult is a slight turn-off. i'm not enthusiastic about opening yet another program to pull my images. Lumix FS5 Flaw 2 Ever since this exact shot, my Panasonic Lumix FS5 camera has been exhibiting the flaw you see here in the upper left of the image. Cleaning has not helped. Appears to be internal. The flaw morphs from bad to worse or vise versa when using the telephoto. Ruins an otherwise decent camera. Idle hands I attached a keychain “spy” camera that takes snapshots and HD video to an Estes model rocket. I suspect with a C motor it’ll reach about a thousand feet. The hope is the camera will stay in place in a slot i cut to hold the camera in the nose cone. The parachute is merely a backup if the camera manages to fling itself loose from the rocket. There’s a 2 gig mini-sdcard salvaged from an old cellphone. I am not sure it will survive launch, or even be able to take video of rapidly changing scenes. But it will be fun either way. I am guessing the rocket will go about 1000 feet in 6 seconds which means the rocket will average 113 mph. It will be interesting to see if both the software and the hardware of the camera can handle the sudden acceleration. Sidenote: the rocket is sitting on a painting in progress. CORTANDO JAMON La semana pasada se celebro en Madrid la XXIV edicion del Salon Internacional del Gourmet. Y por razones de trabajo, fui dos dias a visitar tan interesante muestra. Y como no, me acerque alli con mi camara de fotos. En esta ocasion vemos una imagen del XVI Concurso de Cortadores de Jamon/Dehesa de Extremadura. Una pequena imagen en la que se ve como se corta uno de los grandes manjares de la comida internacional, el jamon iberico de bellota. Mas adelante subire mas fotos de ese evento y contare alguna anecdota sobre este magnifico alimento. Por cierto, corto mejor el jamon que hago fotos, ya que se supone que esa es parte de mi profesion laboral,…. Un saludo. Last week was held in Madrid the XXIV International Fair of Gourmet. And for work, I went two days to visit this interesting exhibition. And why not, I went there with my camera. This time we see an image of the XVI Ham Contest Cutters / Dehesa de Extremadura. A small image that is cut is seen as one of the great delicacies of international cuisine, the Iberian ham. Later I will upload more pictures of this event and tell a story about this wonderful food. Indeed, short best ham I do photos, since it is assumed that this is part of my working career, .... A greeting. Vintage Summer This my own little boy Colton! Isn't he adorable! Seriously! As adorable as he is, he wasn't exactly agreeing with mommy here and this is one of the very few shots I managed to snap before he made a break for it or some angry face! Needless to say, it's tough shooting your own children and I wasn't as on the ball as I should have been with some of my settings. For example I really wanted to blur the background but I didn't adjust my aperture properly before snapping this and so this is one of the edits I did post! This image was shot in raw, so the white balance was adjusted later in adobe camera raw as well as contrast, sharpening and vibrancy. Once I opened the image in CS4 I cropped the photo further which is already done on the original here so that they would fit together, I blurred the background of the image, I even out the tone on his face and the bruise he had on his cheek from falling on the tv stand the week before....I also messed with the curves and colour vibrancy and did a finishing technique I learned from Scott Kelby that I apply to all my children portraits which softens the image a little. I lastly applied a vintage like action that I got from totally rad actions. UFOs LAND HERE I enjoy night photography so I am doomed to keep buying cameras which are not really in any way cut out for night photography (at least software-socialist reasons kept me from buying anything with a Foveon so I'm not out that much money for it). But at least I've decided I'd rather enjoy myself in an awful lo-fi post-post-post-ironic Lomographic way than struggle to obtain results with an accuracy and precision I have neither the time nor resources to accomplish. This isn't all that bad for a $100 camera, anyway. [Now tell me which $100 camera I should have gotten instead, so I can get 3 when the new 40MP tri-D models with olfactory sampling come out and they are going for $30. But man I don't know how I would live without being able to record smells, because sometimes things smell really good and I would want to smell those smells again sometime.] That's not the motion of the stars - as far as I can tell the IS goes a little crazy (or is doomed to overshoot and overcorrect) with dark time exposures, or there's some interaction with the self-timer when using it in 'single' (only-while-capturing) mode, or heck if I know because I only played around for an hour one night so far. So if you are going to try this and have the camera on a steady surface, turn IS off and your pictures will actually be more sharp BUT THAT'S NOT ARTY I'M GOING FOR SPIRAL BOKEH (pass the PBR). I am lying because I have never actually tried a PBR and would not care to. However I do enjoy me some Cynar, and that statement will only become a commercial use violative of Flickr's Terms of Service if the Campari Group ever notices and gives me lots of money for saying it (PLEASE DO). Anyhow, no postprocessing because my TFT is awful and it is impossible to tell if I have actually managed to get it at all approximately calibrated. [Someday I will buy a colorimeter that works with salmiak UNIX but that day is the day when I have money.] I also have nothing resembling a workflow but maybe this will help me figure one out by the time I next feel like doing anything 'serious' with a 'prosumer' 'camera.' In the meantime I am documenting what the out-of-camera results actually look like. Rights reserved because if you are too lazy to take your own picture for your iNdie GarageBand's album cover you deserve to have to give me money or at least perform my necessary dental work. All of this nonsense written in the style of certain obsolete-hip web (1.5) properties is just intended to inspire you enough to get you to post some sort of comment that will inspire me, because I'm feeling uninspired. All is Disconnected A b------ fa&*&7 "friend" of mine (who will remain nameless) was disgruntled with me, and as I stayed in my pool, he dried off, ran inside, changed, and proceeded to the back of my equipment. He disconnected every cable connected to my computer, unplugged the UPS, unplugged my switch and chucked the power supply across the room, and to put a long story short- Killed my entire network, as well as my IP camera systems, . Now, I have to rewire it all, and put the systems back on their legs. Just to post this photo I'm sitting near the fence in my backyard, warsitting the neighbor's wifi. My systems should be back up in a couple hours- It truly is that bad. [UPDATE - 5/30/07] All is well- Systems are back.
