1.3 Megapixel Samsung Camera Phone

This is from a series of close-up self portraits I took with my 1.3 megapixel camera phone in downtown Portland, Or, around 7 in the morning on Saturday, June 16th, 2007.

This is the strongest of my shots from this photo shoot, although it is also the most traditional, in terms of art photography. Here I have placed myself below the sculpture found across from Powell's bookstore (the center of my Portland universe, from which all other places are measured), and photographed my neck outstretched, my face in worship to the morning sky.

The curves and angles of my face, almost perfectly match with those of the sculpture, further evoking my human & object, created and creator, theme that I sought to stitch this work together with. Here the beauty of the natural form compliments and is likewise complimented by the beauty of the inorganic sculpture.

I was also rather proud of lining this piece up almost perfectly, since I was unable to look the at the screen image or even the lens of the camera while taking the shot.

Sony K750i - 2.0 megapixel camera with autofocus and some cool features. I am still not sold on the quality, but it's been better than most cameraphones so far.

This is me at work - I gave the phone to Martin who sits across from me.
