Panasonic LX3. it's the cheaper version of the Leica D-Lux 4. Same body. No Zeiss lens. Still seems to be a pretty ridiculously great point & shoot. options to shoot 16:9, 4:3, or 3:2. a ton of manual control. f2.0 24mm wide angle. it can apparently shoot as close as a cm from subject. my eyes are horribly bloodshot. so test shoot of this idea is a little scary. other things i noticed already. it has an option for exposure-bracketing! press the shutter once and it'll snap off 3 shots. ur designated exposure plus 1 up and 1 down (in point-n-shoot speak). as well as the ability to shoot a picture simultaneously in all 3 aspect ratios. this might be the poor man's version. but as it is a camera that i just want in my bag all the time (i am constantly in places where my D300 is a little too much).. this camera is practically a luxury.
Huge Con: it doesn't adapt too well to iPhoto. You can't transfer nor edit raw files without its given program. And while it can import jpegs to iPhoto, you can only delete by manually deleting on your camera. At least there is a multi-delete. But the idea of Panasonic Raw files being so difficult is a slight turn-off. i'm not enthusiastic about opening yet another program to pull my images.
Lumix FS5 Flaw 2
Ever since this exact shot, my Panasonic Lumix FS5 camera has been exhibiting the flaw you see here in the upper left of the image. Cleaning has not helped. Appears to be internal. The flaw morphs from bad to worse or vise versa when using the telephoto. Ruins an otherwise decent camera.
