My wife and I believe that God is the third strand in our relationship. Not only does he keep us together but he also allows us to handle situations that we would otherwise be too weak to deal with.

A client wanted something for his girlfriend but his budget didn't stretch to something 100% sterling. He asked for a collar that would have a ring into which he could hook a leash. It also needed to appear pretty and somewhat delicate. Finally he wanted it to have 'jewels.'

This is what I crafted for him. Here's hoping it meets his needs.

Square Stainless steel wire, Half round sterling wire, twisted square sterling wire, round sterling wire, and a lot of muscle went into building this collar. The stainless steel is less than cooperative most of the time. Making that center focal loop took more time than the rest of the collar.

I tied a long two bight turks head knot(21 lead 2 bight) with some black and white 0.9mm nylon string on this anchor shackle. I tried some ringbolt hitching first, but that didn't work out so well, so I gave the turks head knot a try.

I bought the small shackle for attaching some key chain carry items: Leatherman Squirt S4 multitool, Howler Whistle, ITP A3 EOS LED flashlight.

Some folks use the shackles for paracord bracelets, although that can be a bit awkward at first, in getting used to putting them on and taking them off with the screw pin attachment of the shackle.

Scanned from 1978 Kodak print. My 4 year old son goes for a ride with dad. Radical Jim Davis front section frame and a 100% chrome plated engine featuring hex cut cyclinders, Sifton cams, Mikuni 38mm carb and .060 overbore pistons. The bikes name is lettered in goldleaf on the top of the Bob Munroe "rocket tank".
The build of Hellbound began when I purchased an XLCH engine from a wrecked bike we had originally built at my chopper shop. The motor was 100% chrome plated and had low miles when wrecked but the fins on both heads and barrels were broken. I found a set of stock heads and barrels at a cycle salvage shop another friend owned. Arlen offered to hex cut the barrels and remove the lower three fins before sending them out to the chrome shop. You can't see it in the photos but this was something we were doing to Sportsters in 1976. We also cut the rocker boxes into two parts and rerouted the top end oil lines. Countersinking the rocker box allens also also made the engine appear smoother. One of the design themes we followed was make everything smaller or eliminate it if possible. For example, we cut off the first 1 inch of the rubber handlebar grips and shortened the stock clutch lever removing the ball end and about 1 inch of the lever itself. Magnetos meant no batteries and spool 21 inch front wheels meant no brake lever,cable or brake drum. We even trimmed the license plates which really pissed off the CHP. I bought a stock frame from another friend and had Jim Davis, Arlen's frame builder, install one of his latest gooseneck front sections. The radical 45 degree rake was Arlen's idea and his 6 inch over stock springer barely made the bike level with the short struts used to replace the shocks.

The night I assembled the engine Arlen came over to help. He had done the work on the barrels himself and then had them chromed. I had them bored .060 over and fitted forged pistons. Arlen held the barrel while I compressed each ring using my thumbnails, squeezing the ring with both hands. One by one we worked the barrel down over all three rings. Then he worked on one side of the motor installing the magneto, oil lines etc. while I installed the clutch, primary chain etc. Together we fitted the manifold, o-rings and carb. It was after 2AM when we finished the motor and Arlen had a 90 minute drive back to the bay area.

The first paint job was black with gold and silver leaf scroll work. I rode the bike to work daily and had to fill the 1.75 gallon tank each afternoon or or I wouldn't make it home from work the following day. On a weekend run with friends I let a guy ride while I drove the chase truck. He ran out of road on a curve and laid the bike down causing major damage to the paint and chrome on the springer. A rebuild followed and I changed the color to cobalt blue pearl as shown in the photos with this story.

I rode the bike the following summer and fall, then entered it in the famous Oakland Roadster Show that winter with the understanding Arlen would pick up the bike after the show and put it in his shop for sale. After the show it was common practice to start the bikes and ride them out of the building. Turns out that Arlen's employee was drunk and decided to do burnouts in the parking lot showing off. He flipped the bike end over end and wrecked it a second time. I had already purchased a 1978 XLCR which I was riding, so had wheels while rebuilding and repainting Hellbound for the third and final time. Shit happens, I was always building a bike while riding the one I just finished and the rebuilds went quickly each time.

We were all riding and building in our garages, helping each other with the work. I was the paint guy, others did the welding or machining. Some, like Bob Munroe and Jim Davis were fabrication guys and could make anything. We rode on weekends, often on overnight runs with groups of 40 or more bikes. Sleeping on the ground and holding "safety meetings" in what ever tavern we came across. Bowling Alleys were always good for biscuits and gravy to "grease up" for the drinking that was to follow. When we rode on the highways the CHP usually shadowed the group and radioed ahead. Local cops met us at the city limits and watched us until we left their town. Occasionally the last bike in the pack got pulled over and issued a bullshit citation for something. New guys had to ride in the back. During the chopper boom of the 70's almost everyone worked on their own bike. Chopper shops like mine and Arlen's sold parts only, no installation work preformed, this was common at the time.

In another first for the new Sail Stadefrance managed Cape Town Stadium in Green Point, two rugby matches were played at the venue for the first time on Saturday 6 February 2010. The event, the second in a series of three planned dry runs leading up to the kickoff of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in June, drew a crowd of 40 000 spectators who filled the first two levels of seating to capacity.

The curtain raiser saw the SA Legends defeat a star-studded International Legends 22-5 in the ten-a-side format of the game. After a lap of honour and some entertainment from local band Flat Stanley, the Vodacom Stormers clashed with Boland Invitational XV in a pre-season Super-14 warm-up game. The Stormers walked away with the trophy after thumping their opponents 47-13.

In this high resolution panorama of the stadium, taken at halftime, you can see the glass roof, "Ring of Fire" (i.e. spot-lights) and the installation of temporary seating, ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in June, which boosts the stadium's capacity to 68 000 seats.

I was rather upset that in the past week that I hadn't been able to make any of my ideas work for this week's 52 Weeks photo, but was very pleased that I managed to take this good one in the bathroom during Environmental Science today. I wanted to show off my pretty ugly gem sweater and mum's 1990 wedding earrings.

Figures I'd have to time to take photos in the bathroom during Environmental Science. That class is by far the easiest thing I've ever done and assignments that take me a maximum of 15 minutes take the rest of the knucklehead students 40 minutes. Oh well, I have 100% and my GPA is gonna rock this year because of it.

People actually asked me today where they could get such a sweater. I didn't realize it'd be so well liked. $3 thrift store find that I got solely for the 80's Dance at my high school freshman year. I never ended up wearing it, and this is it's Rachel Stratton debut. hehe.

As for weekly news, I get my first pay check this coming Wednesday. =) I have 27 hours of minimum wage coming my way. Not bad for what I need--which is just enough money to get myself some new jeans, flannel, underoos, and my Halloween costume. I also need to pay off some late fees at Family Video. Hopefully I will only need to take $100 from this pay, and put the rest away to save for Andrew's Christmas present (a guinea pig and all the accessories, he's very excited) and my own Christmas present. My parents are giving me $200 toward a new camera for Christmas. I'm responsible for the rest, which might be $400. -.-

Speaking of holidays, my Halloween party is coming up! I'm very excited, as are my friends. I always throw at least one good party per school year. If this one's great, I probably won't bother with another one in March for my birthday. I'll probably go with a night out to dinner and the pool hall for that business.

I really like this 52 Weeks project, because I only *have* to get a good shot on Flickr about once a week (good considering I'm busy with beauty school, high school, and work) and I'm not overwhelmed as in a 365 project.

the vehicle i picked up from enterprise had a busted headlight, so i got pulled over by a sherrif on my way home last night. i went to one of the locations in longview this morning, who called a branch in austin. they wouldn't replace my vehicle because it was still "drivable," and if i wanted the bulb fixed i had to take it myself to fix it.

thus, i yelled at the assistant manager in austin (the same person i picked it up from) for quite a long time. i explained it wasn't drivable because driving with only one headlight is not only illegal but unsafe. i can't wait to see her in person when i turn in the vehicle tuesday morning. i hope she's looking forward to it as much as i am.

mom and i were up until 3AM talking, so after i got back home from enterprise at 10 i slept til 3PM. a few hours later, around 18:30, my head was killing me. i slept again til around 20:00, when mom was ready to make supper. i helped her make some lasagna, and have been lying around playing sudoku on brain age.

tomorrow we're going to nana and papaw's! podnuh's for lunch, johnny's for supper...i just can't believe it's going to rain! well, yes i can. it's rained every easter for the past several years we've gone to nana and papaw's. oh well, i'll bring a change of clothes and egg hunt in the rain. ^_^

it continues. headache, invoices, hr blahbitty-blah. now i've got to learn about worker's comp, which from what i can tell is the hugest pain in the ass this side of a hemorrhoid. what i don't understand is why anything needs to be done electronically on the departmental side. why can't we just fill out the forms and send it to the worker's comp office, where, you know, they have half a clue of what's going on? whine whine whine. again.

jamie came dancing by my desk today to let me know bobby said we could hire our student worker. our previous one quit for an internship, so now we need a warm body to file and take things across campus. i was thinking cool, maybe he can start next monday and i can have time to get together some training stuff for him. jamie moves at a much faster pace, however. everything is an emergency with her, so he'll be there tomorrow at 11:00. >.<

i really don't feel like training him now. not only do i not have the time at the moment, more importantly i'm not prepared. i'm not good at training people because i just can't talk. thoughts are flowing smoothly in my head, and even when i type, but there is a serious disconnect when it comes to producing speech. especially with strangers.

thankfully, as it just occured to me, he hasn't gotten a clear background check yet. i'll teach him about application paperwork and send him on his way, back to making bad "experimental" music with his friend. (this is why myspace has that "private" option.)

and i'm going to start number crunching for our permit order this year. it's more than twice the cost of last year—which gloria and i together were able to bring down a ridiculous amount—and i can't just let that fly. i don't get how we can be six figures below budget in one area and just throw away money. plus this new plan seems flawed, and...it's so boring to anyone not involved. the point is it's illogical, and hopefully reason will win the war.

what does all of this BS have to do with my picture? nothing. i found this chain on the coffee table and got it stuck in my lip ring as i was sitting there idly messing with it. i threw in my "ugh, i don't care about you" face simply for clarification of my mood.

Living in a small house, I've pretty much pared things down to what's most necessary. I try to stick to a utilitarian, aesthetic or sentimental rule for what stays and what goes. Of course, I have my fair share of useless crap here and there, but I'm pretty good at purging when things start piling up. I've always wanted a home that surrounds me with mementos of my travels or cherished items passed down from loved ones. Masks from Mexico & Africa. A thanka painting from Nepal. My Poppop's high school shop project, a set of shelves. But as time moves and the destinations pile up, not to mention having to say goodbye to those who've passed on, I find that I'm bringing home less stuff to adorn my home, and instead looking for things to adorn myself. Both of these rings were purchased on two completely different types of trips. The garnet ring I bargained for in India while waiting for our ride outside the hotel in Hassan. The other I bought at De Beers in Las Vegas spending a ridiculous amount of money. But I'm glad I did it. And I love both these rings. I wear them all the time. The necklace was a gift from my parents from a trip to Prague, and the earrings a gift from my Aunt. I love them too, just as equally as the others. So now, I look for little things to bring home, that I can keep with me all the time. Little reminders of my life experience and the people who enrich it. It had only taken a few more steps closer for Art to fully realize that it was in fact Baptiste, and what is was he had in holding, was not only cool, but thirst quenching as well. Just how Baptiste had known Art would not be traveling alone was anybodies guys, and one based solely by the look on Baptist’s face, was a question he had no intention of asking. Clearly there had been no mention of Felix or Levy accompanying him for his visit, and as near as he could tell no one else appeared to be in attendance either. No of course not, what a ridicules idea. It was standard for Baptiste to allow a quarterly visit from the Alliance magistrate, but beyond that he rarely if ever allowed for any other audience. The exception of course being Art, who for the life of him had never truly understood why. Never the less, there he was, the old man Baptiste, standing proudly at the front porch, with a broad yet firm grin spread across the whole of his antiquated and wrinkled face. A twinkle of exuberance in his typically dull gray eye’s cut through the distance between them, as he eagerly awaiting the companionship of his estranged friend, Artimus Flanigan, as well as two apparent beggars nipping rigidly just a single foot steps behind his shoeless heel.
Having reached it’s zenith sometime ago, the sun was sagging lazily on the western horizon, casting an eerie crimson haze onto the landscape. The haze suggested night fall was soon coming, and meandering out in the open air after night fall was a far less desirable idea then Art wanted to think about. As near as Art could figure it had taken them a little over three and a half hours to make their way across the whole of Crate Steam, opting to fallow the Sere road far out beyond Precipice Ally, and it’s untold dangers, in place of the longer yet far safer thoroughfare. It had saved them the unwanted attention of a dance with the troubles, but clearly they had paid with the price of missing their appointment with Beans, and the berthed Yakie Z-31, he assembly had ready and waiting for them. It also suggested that several more hours would pass before Art once again found himself parading his delicate person about the city streets, as he had no intention of attempting to traverse Crate Steam’s questionable streets and slummy back ways in the dark. Being the focal point of the operation, Art had to figure that on time or not, the remaining crew would not go on without him whether he had any real part in the operations beyond being it’s architect or not. Besides, Felix was not in attendance either, and surely they would not be moving on without the likes of him. It wasn’t something Art wanted to ponder on to deeply at the moment. He had other more dilapidating here and now concerns to address, and right then, for all he cared. Beans would just have to figure out new and creative ways of fucking himself, while he waited for such a time as Art was capable of crossing town yet again, in order to finally make the ronde vu with the rest of the crew in the ship yards.
In fact, once Art had confirmed with himself that indeed what he was looking at was without an inkling of doubt, Baptiste, standing loftily on the porch, all of his thoughts became focused on the cool glass’s of sweetened iced tea, the old man had waiting for them. That and the spare change of clothe he had stowed away in the back wardrobe of what Baptiste called his “Collection room”, and possibly a useful pair of shoes. Clean wears, Art thought to himself. Perhaps even a shower, and finally something to eat. And with that, despite the lack of a left shoe, Art increased the rate of his ambulation, almost doubling his pace into a clumsy rhythmless speed walk. Behind him he heard Felix mumble something, and a response from Levy in the sharp shape of a hasty toned “Fuck you”, but it really didn’t matter. He was thirsty, hungry, and as far as he was concerned, smelled worse then something that had come out of the south end of a north bound outer rim fright hub whore. A moment later, and Art was standing at the foot of Baptiste’s porch, looking as pathetic as an old Earth transient and eye balling the glasses of s

Sterling Silver Amber Celtic Love Knots Ring, Size 9

The history of amber begins about 90 millions years ago in lush green forests in the region of modern day Northern Europe. Trees in these regions produced an aromatic resin, used for protection against woodpeckers, fungus and bark-eating insects. This resin would slowly cascade covering the bark of the tree entrapping organic debris and sometimes live insects along the way. Nearly 40 different species of trees produced this protective resin, accounting for the numerous colors of amber today. Over millions of years, this golden resin produced by pre-historic trees accumulated in many layers in the soil below. To summarize, I was talking about music, then asked my regular viewers what music they liked. No one responded (I should have anticipated that), so I decided to make a list of 100 songs I liked. Only I couldn't keep it to 100. Now the list is up to 700 songs, and I sometimes think of more but I'm too lazy to go through the existing list to check if new songs I think of are already there. day 187. did practically nothing today. Wasted a today with learning some songs, and just kept up with my flickr. and buddies and stuff.

188 I didn't want today to be like yesterday, so I went to gerg's house to watch his band practice. It was something to do! =P

189. One hell of a way to spend a day.. On planes. xO just listened to music 10 hrs on the flights and 4 hrs in the terminal. Lame, but I was glad to be in michigan when I got there. Got pretty annoyed at my dad. =P

190 good day today. Just glad to be back. Helped out cleanin the house, fixed up some flowers and got a nice haircut. other than that, recieved the new camera and lens lol. The camera was the new Canon T1i. Sooo nice to have in my hands. Couldn't wait to do anything with it. The lens was actually bought, and it was the 50mm prime f/1.8. So epic! Loads of pics this trip xD

201. Woke up, walked around in the local gift stores, saw some cool stuff, but didn't get anything but a mood ring... lol. We drove all day through salt lake city, into las vegas, went down the strip, took some pics but didn't get out, and drove the rest of the way to our house, getting there at 5 in the morning. The sun was starting to make the sky blue.






205. Tried doing something today, can't do band shots, hung out with molly, sammy, lauren, and wesley at the library lol. They were studying for bio. Saw maggie, kristen, cloe, and amanda at the library as well. They just came to check it out. It was really cool seeing them. After that, went to kevin's to play nazi zombie, had fun talking to haley, and went home

I made this album using Sassafras' Robotics line. In oranges, blues, reds and browns, this album can be used for either a baby boy or baby girl. It doesn't even have to be a baby! Inside there are 14 inked pages, embellished minimally for more space for your cutie pie's pictures. With an animal/circus theme, there's a lion, a hippo and a cutie elephant inside from Making Memories. The scalloped edges make it even more sweet!

Album size is approx: 4 1/2" x 8" held together with 3 binder rings so you can even add more pages if you wanted to.

The cover is adorned with a pretty button flower embelly and chipboard embelly that reads, "gift from above". There is room for a picture too.

my mom originally bought these binders for like $3 a piece at Liquidation World or something...i only have 3 of them but don't hesitate to bend them, drop them, & pack them full of page protectors holding photos...they'll never sit on a shelf in my living room so i could care less what they look like. i recommend finding some cheap binders or albums (a regular 3-ring binder would work fine too) to store your semi-organized photos in!

i am learning macro photography..

picked up the 100 2.8 L with I.S. to help me do the job better since i was fighting with the 85L for ring shots..

this new lens should help out and do things fast for me..

this was the first time using it and i think it is a huge learning curve !..

macro is totally different than people portraits.. and the Fstops are totally different.. i have to learn the ratio differences..

for people full body i like to be at 2.0 on the 85L..

but for objects that are small.. i think i need to be around 5.6 or higher to get everything in focus..

lighting was a single 580 triggered by a cactus trigger with a white card on the camera right to bounce the light back to the rings..

rings were on a wooden floor with small dust particles that made the sweet bokeh..

This couple who has a deep love of trees had wooden wedding rings. So beautiful and unique.
