As prices have been coming down, I lastly determine to get a projector. 720p was lots good for me. After reading plenty of evaluations here and the assorted projector websites on the market I narrowed my search right down to the Optoma HD66 and the Epson 705HD, both going for +/- $650 at the time of this writing, and each highly rated.
I'm projecting it on to a white-ish wall (no screens!) and but the image is wonderful to the detail .. I view regular TV at a a hundred"inch display (zoom -three) and for films I enhance it to 124"inch (zoom 0) - Superior! .. I have it ceiling mounted and the throw distance/ratio is simply perfect. I did discover that the DLP chip used within the HD66 has a local resolution of 1280x800 .. which is ideal for a laptop computer/VGA signal (squarish) however to display TV or Motion pictures in sixteen:9, the resolution used is 1280x720 (which is the true 16:9). What this implies is that there might be a light-weight shadow around the sixteen:9 picture as its not utilizing the full DLP chip for image. This is generally distracting specifically for me as I undertaking on a wall and do not have a set viewing area. But to be honest, the projector is so brilliant, i depart a light-weight within the adjacent room on and the little ambient light takes care of the sunshine border. I've had no problems with utilizing the projector in the afternoon with the blinds closed (i do not need a dedicated theatre room).
I would advocate this to anyone, with out hesitation. Now we have watched TV on it as well, and that is pretty cool, however we try not to do this too much, so it stays 'particular'. Now, after I miss a movie on the theater, I will be okay, because watching it at home, is great.
