My son got this for his 4th birthday. He was THRILLED to get it, and couldn't wait to get it home and start playing with it. He even tried to take it to bed the first night!
The first few days, he played with it repeatedly throughout the day. After a few days, he tired of it. He still enjoys the remote control aspect, but only uses it for 5 minutes or so at a time.
Pros: The BigFoot can do some pretty neat stuff, especially to a 4-year old boy! With the touch of a button, he roars, flips, burps, yells and throws a ball. The first time my son had him flip, he thought it was amazing and couldn't wait to do it over and over again. The remote is also easy to operate, and has just enough buttons to make it interesting and not overly complicated for the age group.
Cons: Some of the actions are not performed quite as smoothly or easily as on the commercials. For instance, to get the BigFoot to throw the ball, you have to place the ball just so, and hope the mechanical thumb closes around it. If it doesn't lock or close tight enough, the ball just falls right back out. Also, the ball doesn't really get thrown so much as dropped with style. Still entertaining for a 4-year old, but only after many, many frustrating efforts getting the ball to stick. Another con is the sheer size/weight of the toy. When it flips over or falls backwards, it lands with a boom. My son used it in a bedroom with laminate wood floor, and there is now a little chip in the floor from the BigFoot landing with such force. It makes odd mechanical noises when it breaths and moves its arms in resting mode, and when it moves around. This makes it a little hard to hear it talk at times, over the whirring. Lastly, and this is the one that my son wishes were different - it only moves backwards and forwards, not side to side. If you're trying to steer it around the room, good luck!
Overall, it's a pretty darned neat toy. For the money, I wish they'd made it more maneuverable and fixed the ball throwing.

If you're looking for a great sounding 5.1 speaker system with an active sub, look no more. This is probably the best item you can get out there at this price. I bought these speakers about 3 months ago to use with my HK 254 and they are doing a great job. Sound is extremely clear even at really high dBs and I must say I was pleasantly surprised to experience how much you can get from such tiny speakers.
As I said, I'm using these with my HK 254 and I have some issues with the output level of the receiver (you can see my review for HK 254 under that item) and I have not tried these speakers with another item. Having said that, I still believe these speakers are a great buy!

I bought my wife the Wii Fit Plus with balance board because she wanted it. First, my wife really likes it. I also liked it a good bit at first. It has a lot of fun games and has some good exercises. I have three problems with it. First, my wii character on there will always look fat. I am 5'9". My recommended weight is 145 lbs. I am in the military and am in reasonable shape. I have not weighed 145 since I was 13 years old. There is no way I am going to lose 60 lbs and be healthy. The BMI is based solely on height and weight so I highly recommend that if you're not of a compact body type, don't use it.
Second, for men out there, the board itself it not wide enough to do a proper push up. It is not even shoulder width for me. So be aware.
The third issue is minor, but many of the exercises are too easy and there needs to be the ability to set your ability level at the outset and increase the number of repetitions per exercise.
Overall a good product. The balance stuff is great and the games are fun. The body test is weak and not at all accurate. The board needs to be wider for push ups. If those aren't a problem for you, I highly recommend the product. If those are going to be an issue for you, I recommend finding someone who has it and trying it out.

Was initially very happy with this unit. Worked well for about a year and a half and then the DVD portion started getting more temperamental about reading, formatting and recording to discs. Then one day the DVD read head started banging inside the unit and now it claims there is an unreadable disc in it even when there is no disc in it at all. None of the reset procedures worked. I checked the price of sending this in for repair but quickly found out it would be far more expensive than the unit was worth. I cringe at the thought of tossing/recycling a unit that is cosmetically flawless in every other respect. The unit got medium use but was always cared for. Seems a shame and a waste that the unit wasn't built more reliably.

Picked it up at Sam's Club for $298. Had it for a week now and so far....so good. Very clear picture with GREAT sound. Compared prices at other places and found this price to be at least $60 cheaper than anywhere else. Simple setup from box, we were watching programs in less than 15 minutes. I was hesitant about getting my son a dirtbike at 6 but my husband insisted he would love it. Well, this is one time I can say my husband was right. I can't keep him away from it. He just loves it and has no problem handling it. He rides it off and on almost everyday since he's gotten it and the battery has only died once from a 12 hr nightly charge. He gets at least 45 min. of ride time a day, most days seems like much more. The best birthday present so far!

My 9-yr-old son loves Lego models. We wanted to get him a real challenge for the summer, so we got him this one even though they recommend it for ages 16+. He was able to build it by himself in two days - after about 5 hours of sorting and organizing the pieces first. (We had hoped it would take longer!). He said the instruction booklets were hard but he was able to get through them himself. The set was missing a few pieces - and luckily we have a big bin of extra pieces that helped us out. Overall, it was a great project and he loved the final result. He highly recommends this model for all real Lego lovers out there.
