Take a Swing

It's short, it's kinda fail, and it's not the pairings you wanted, but HERE'S A GINTAMA FICLET FOR YOU, minkyleigh! 8D;;;Title: Take a SwingFandom: GintamaPairing: Hijikata/Yamazaki. Implied racket/Hijikata.Rating: PG-13 . . . ishSummary: Damn that boy can swing that racket. ;o It was a lazy fall afternoon, and as usual, there wasnt much to do in the way of law enforcement. The Shinsengumi were all stationed for the worst, but since the worst rarely (if ever) came along, they were spending said afternoon resigned to states of utter boredom. Hijikata Toushirou, Vice Captain, was watching as his topless subordinate practiced his badminton swings for the three millionth time.Truth be told, he quite enjoyed afternoons like this. He sat against the porch railing, cigarette smoke dissipating into a small gray line before his face as he watched the toned muscles of Yamazakis back move beneath his skin. With force, he held back sympathetic winces each time the racket whizzed sharply through the air. He knew what that racket was capable of and squirmed uncomfortably on his rear.Truth also be told, Hijikata had something resembling some sort of . . . relationship with the man. Yamazaki wasnt exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, nor was he the strongest. It wasnt really that he was brave or a good fighter or any of that stuff. It was just . . . wait, what was he good for?YAMAZAKI! Hijikatas abrupt roar promptly took another six months off of Yamazakis expected lifespan. When his heart began beating once again, he reacted on delayed instinct and tried to make a run for it. His escape route was quickly foiled by the extended foot of a certain supposedly-sleeping 1st Captain.Yamazaki cowered in a rather cowardly fashion before the towering shadow of his perpetually angry-looking Vice Captain. In truth, he wasnt all that afraid. Not really. Hijikata-san may act scary in front of everyone else, but when they were alone . . . well, okay, he usually acted scary then too. But he had a soft side, Yamazaki knew. Oh, he knew alright.Not that the punch in the face was any indicator.It was only three punches this time, at least. And they werent even that hard! Yamazaki realized he must be in a good mood. Still, he put on the victimized act, because he knew Hijikata would be appeased.No way, I wasnt even doing anything! he whined, then gulped at the Vice Captains increasing glower.Thats exactly it! What the hell do you do around here?Yamazaki blinked, caught off guard. Do . . . ? Do? As in chores? Doing the dishes? Doing Hijika-Why the hell do you carry around that frigging katana, anyway?I can fight! Yamazaki protested with a rather childish scowl. I helped you catch those ruffians who stole that old ladys purse the other day, remember?Hijikata just continued his glower. Truthfully, Yamazaki knew what Hijikata was asking. It was something he asked every once in a while, whenever the thought for some reason or other occurred to his lovable but pea-sized brain.On cue, Okita-san decided at that moment to wake up.Thats strange, you dont even know what one of your closest subordinates does? Thats not being a very good Vice Captain, Hijikata-san.Shut up! Who asked you? Hijikatas wall of classic defensiveness came up, and as the two rivals continued to bicker back and forth, Yamazaki knew he was saved for now.After thanking Okita-san for the save later on that evening, Yamazaki slipped silently into Hijikatas bedroom, twirling handcuffs around the finger of one hand while the other gripped the hilt of his precious racket. A couple late-night drinkers saw him move discreetly through the shadows with their well-trained eyes, but politely pretended not to notice.Everyone except Hijikata knew that Yamazakis job was keeping Hijikatas fearful temperament from getting out of hand.~FIN~----------------------------LOL. I dunno. I suddenly felt the need to pick on poor Hijikata. T_TFEEDBACK PLZ. ♥
