Aside from my nose and ears, nothing on my head needs to be pierced (or should be). I despise eyebrow piercings because the only people I ever see with them are fugly trailer trash (or perhaps denotes the area that I live in). Lip rings are fine but I think it would irritate the hell out of me. Tongue? No thanks! I do not like the labret piercing (I always imagine drool coming out of it--gross.) or anything else.
I wouldn't mind getting my septum pierced as well as my left nostril so that I could alternate which side my piercing is on (I would use a clear retainer for the other side). I still want to have one of my ears pierced from top to bottom but by a professional, not at the Piercing Pagoda. Getting my cartilage pierced with a gun was the worst mistake ever and I've let it close on it's own.
I subscribe to Suicide Girls because I love tattoos and piercings. I intend on getting more tattoos soon and have really wanted to get my septum pierced. I've also wanted to stretch my ear piercings (the first set) so I can wear natural bone/horn earrings. Nothing extreme--probably the largest I would go is 10g (or 8g).
Anyway. So now I'm thinking I really, really want to get a monroe piercing (beauty mark piercing). I actually do have a mole on the right side of my mouth so I would probably want to get it on the left side.
I don't know. It's a lot more..."out there" than a nose piercing. Dare I???

After many months of contemplation...I finally picked out a custom design on the Josten's website via their Ring Designer.

I previously had an original ring that I got in 1994 that was very similar to this style...only to later lose it to someone from my past who cast it aside and was never able to get it back. She and I haven't spoken since 2001.

My old ring also had the same blue smooth-cut stone except the protected emblem inside was a scorpion. I also had the old Agriculture logo on it except back then it had my graduation year above it as 1997. The other side (where the butterfly is now) was the school's mascot...the cowboy, Zapata. The inside of my old ring had my actual signature of "Thomas Robert Donovan." of which I actually had to sign a Scantron-type of form for the machine to be able to read for when it was engraved.

The new engraving, in simple type, will now just say "T.R. Donovan - 'Carpe diem'. Carpe diem (latin for "Seize the Day") was Sonora's school newspaper...of which I was to join my junior year if I had not moved away.

Ok so a graduation cake with a difference! These books are designed to show the blood sweat and tears behind the achievement.

I've had very good experiences with both Jessica and Mark's work. Jessica did a beautiful, Celtic-inspired cuff for me. Mark did an absolutely beautiful job on a very large rutilated smoky quartz cab. (The material Mark supplied was first rate.) Mark also did a beautiful job creating a pair of watermelon tourmaline free-form cabs from a "scrap" of rough I supplied. Also, when Jessica got a bit behind in finishing the cuff due to some family challenges, she didn't hesitate to make up for missing her (self-imposed) deadline by sending me a necklace she had made. I also found both Jessica and Mark to be a fountain of information on both jewelry-making and cabbing. IMHO you won't go wrong, and much will go right, doing business with them!

Woke up at 7 and started getting ready for the wedding. By 8 o'clock Jess and I were ready... but the wedding wasn't until 10:30am. So we took a stroll over to the Happy Tomato, neither of us had been there before. YUMM!!! The owner was really sweet, so we might go there Thursday night for taco bar and empinadas.

Soon enough I left for the wedding. Everyone looked beautiful!! Mandy, you looked gorgeous. Bridesmaids walked, talks given, vows and rings exchanged. So cute!

The reception was fun! A little stuffy, but still fun!

I met up with Nick and Matty P, picked up Sawria and headed down to Boston for a free show at the Governement Center. We were super close to the front for Passion Pit, Metric, Gaslight Anthem and Airborne Toxic Event. My favorite was probably a toss up between Gaslight Anthem and Airborne... I like the Gaslight cd more but Airborne was better live.... hmm?

Came home around 1am and couldn't get my key out of the ignition. I was soo tired I was falling asleep trying to figure out what was wrong. After about 20 minutes I gave up and got my spare key and locked my car with the key still in the ignition.

My dad bought my mum these amazing dark pink roses today. (They're almost red, they're just gorgeous!)
One of the stems broke on one of them, and she let me mess around with it. Naturally I had to take pictures. :)

That is my purity/promise ring on the rose, and as it's close to Valentine's Day, I figured it was rather fitting.

This is sort of new to me, I've not really tried to shoot cut flowers before. It was a bit harder than I had expected. The lighting, the angle, the focus... they all have to be intensely watched.
I was a little disappointed that the focus on this did not come out as clear as I had hoped.
But all in all, for trying something new, it turned out ok!

I try a new kind of photography at least once a week, any suggestions for the next few weeks would be very appreciated!

Tony bought me this ring at the Vancouver Folk Fest last summer, dropping to one knee to present it to me and slip it on my finger as the lead singer of the Bare Naked Ladies coincidently launched into "Jane". Oddly, it broke the day after I took this picture, so much so I had to remove it, (which was difficult), as it stabbed me in the middle of the night. It's currently sitting on the bedside table, an unpleasantly apt metaphor for a recent disagreement.

It's interesting how life changes. This is my high school ring. At the time, it seemed important that I should have one. I think I wore it my senior year and the following year. Now it sits in a box on a shelf.

I stumbled across my old high school senior ring while trying to stumble across some other old stuff. Hard to believe that even my 40th class reunion is ancient history now! This was W.F. George High School in Iowa Park, Texas. Go Hawks!

Valentine Presents Sterling Silver Red Onyx Gemstone Ring US Size 6 1/2

Jewelry has many purposes in India. For one, jewelry is a staple in every woman's closet or dresser, as these accessories are used to enhance her feminine beauty. They are essential to the adoration of women. These jewelry pieces are made of gold, silver, and a woman's best friend, diamonds.
Aside from its adoration purposes, jewelry plays its role in economics and finances. As investments, jewelry can also be used as security measures during times of contingency. Expensive jewelry can be sold anytime, anywhere, whenever money is needed. And so, jewelry has insurance purposes as well.

Silver rings in India are worn on all five fingers. The many types of metal rings can be generally categorized as those with or without the bezel, which holds the decorative stone or seal.
Based on Hindu astrology, each one of the nine planets of the universe has its corresponding stone. An Indian will know of the dominant planet during the time of his or her birth, since it is believed to carry a strong influence on the person's life. The wearing of these special stones can enhance or mitigate the influence of the planet.

Although I did not buy this ring in Galway, I bought it very close to there, in the tiny village of Doolin, in Co. Clare. Some history and meaning of the ring:

The Claddagh ring (Irish: fainne Chladaigh) is a traditional Irish ring given as a token of love or worn as a wedding ring. The design and customs associated with it originated in the Irish fishing village of Claddagh, located just outside the city of Galway. The ring was first produced in the 17th century during the reign of Queen Mary II, though elements of the design date to the late Roman period.

The Claddagh's distinctive design features two hands clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands), and loyalty (the crown).

There are three traditionally accepted ways of wearing the ring which may signal someone's relationship status:

1. When worn on the right ring finger with the heart pointing to the fingertip, the wearer is free of any attachment.

2. On the same finger with the ring turned around, it suggests someone is romantically involved.

3. When the ring is on the left hand wedding ring finger it means the person is married or engaged.

Galway has produced Claddagh rings continuously since at least 1700, but the name "Claddagh ring" was not used before the 1840s.

This image was made with a reverse mounted lens and taken hand held at the camera with the lens resting on the location of the snow, possibly my truck. This is a variation of a type of set-up I used for snowflake imaging last winter. The lens is a Samyang 18-28mm f4-4.5 (Nikon AI mount) and 72mm filter ring. Attached to the filter ring are two step-down rings: 72mm to 58mm and 58mm to 52mm. Attached to the 52mm ring is a Nikon BR-2 ring, a Vivitar Pre-AI AT-3 36mm extension tube and a Fotodiox Nikon mount to Pentax K mount adapter ring with the removable corrector lens removed, and mounted to my Pentax K20D camera body, imaged with available light (no flash). The total extension is about 65mm. The lens was set to 18mm, f5.6. I believe this macro to be in excess of 4:1. This patch of snow was imaged in rural upstate Columbia County, New York, USA. This is a large JPEG and is SOOC without any adjustment or cropping.

Many types of women have inspired Ted Noten in making his new series of work. Assemblages, rings, necklaces, bracelets and brooches in many different colors, materials and sizes are the result of a one year survey through the world of women. Featuring: the Fashionista, the Icecream Girl and the Femme Fatale. These assemblages are translated into jewels by 3d printing technique.
The Japanese artist Hokusai immortalized the most enchanting landscape he knew in a group of woodprints: '36 views of Mount Fuji'. These images inspired Ted Noten to develop 36 jewels for just as many types of women. Noten also made images: each woman was portrayed in a three dimensional collage. The shoes, car tyres and other 'objects trouves' he used, seem a far cry from regular jewellery.
The artist became a jewellerymaker at the moment he reworked the scale and details of these collages in a computer. State-of-the-art technology allowed him to produce objects in any material and seize: fit for a finger, arm or neck. Out of each collage just one golden jewel will be developed. In addition to these unique pieces, the designer Noten manufactured small editions in innovative plastics, titanium or steel.

When Ted Noten started using cad-cam to realise his most recent collection 'Haunted by 36 Women' (2009), he initially used the 3D printing technique in a rather slow way. It started by making sculptures from assembled found objects(HAUTE COUTURE). These sculptures, assemblages of shoes, chairs, tyres and other found objects, were 3d scanned and then computer manipulated and rapid prototyped to become pieces of jewellery in either gold(COLLECTORS ITEM), titanium, steel etc.etc. and coloured nylon. The sculpture Night Bird was the model for two gold rings and a limited series of 25 titanium rings. To find out later that this ring was a perfect prototype for an unlimited series, now with a new and independent name and identity, 'Miss Piggy'.(PRET A PORTER)
Rapid prototyping can be used in a slow way by making a one-off or a limited series. But the challenge is in the fact that rapid prototyping enables you to make large quantities of work - which only pays if the maker is a celebrity. Pages of archival sleeves that fit into standard 3-ring binders are a very convenient way to store negatives. Each page holds an average roll of film, though 36-exposure rolls of 35mm film require an extra half-page. There are separate sleeve types for 120 negatives and 35mm negatives, and I have organized my negatives chronologically by type. The categories are 120 b/w, 120 C-41, 35mm b/w, and 35mm C-41. (C-41 is the most common color film process)

The pages of sleeves include a spot just for metadata, but it's not very much room and my handwriting is big. I record the date of processing, camera, and sometimes subject; since I've gotten back into film, I haven't really had the time for the level of dutiful recordkeeping that I used to do before grad school.

In addition, this shot reveals a very flexible tool--the sticky note tab--which Flickr imitates with its notes. The note tab here indicated a photo that I wanted to consider printing, whereas notes on digital images are more often content-oriented. And very good for indexing, which is an enormous advantage of the digital medium. Humans may be the best indexers of content, but humans in general are not necessarily skilled at the craft of formal indexing.

I used a standard 1/2 inch 3-ring binder, clear plastic sleeves for photos (4 slots to a page), and plastic tab dividers to organize my circular needles. I need to get a little needle measuring tool because some of the needles don't have their size on them or the imprint has faded.

The tabbed dividers will divide the needles by size (mm/US) and then each pocket will get marked with the length.

This custom nath was a pleasure to make! The body of the paisley is filled with pink tourmalines, emeralds, and a clear purple amethyst, and a watermelon tourmaline briolette hangs from one side. The color scheme was carried into the matching, detachable chain as well, with the addition of some lovely, deep purple iolite marquis briolettes, and swags of delicate sterling chain. The nose ring is 1-3/8 inches in diameter, and the chain measures 6-1/2 inches in length.
