New Class Ring
After many months of contemplation...I finally picked out a custom design on the Josten's website via their Ring Designer.
I previously had an original ring that I got in 1994 that was very similar to this style...only to later lose it to someone from my past who cast it aside and was never able to get it back. She and I haven't spoken since 2001.
My old ring also had the same blue smooth-cut stone except the protected emblem inside was a scorpion. I also had the old Agriculture logo on it except back then it had my graduation year above it as 1997. The other side (where the butterfly is now) was the school's mascot...the cowboy, Zapata. The inside of my old ring had my actual signature of "Thomas Robert Donovan." of which I actually had to sign a Scantron-type of form for the machine to be able to read for when it was engraved.
The new engraving, in simple type, will now just say "T.R. Donovan - 'Carpe diem'. Carpe diem (latin for "Seize the Day") was Sonora's school newspaper...of which I was to join my junior year if I had not moved away.
Graduation cake
Ok so a graduation cake with a difference! These books are designed to show the blood sweat and tears behind the achievement.
With titles like these they do not earn the love and care of pristine books - these have been kicked from pillar to post - dumped in a bag in the rain, referred to countless times, thrown down in frustration, eaten over, used as a coffee mat (yes there is a ring stain on the top!) and probably used as a doorstop too.
Now she has graduated they will probably be resigned to the attic - or maybe the bin!

Made completely from Pure Solid English 925 STERLING SILVER.
Genuine Natural Sapphires & Opals.
Three Natural Deep Blue Sapphires & two colorful Australian Opals equally measuring 6x4 mm (0.24" x 0.16") set in this Sterling Silver Antique style setting. This is a real Beauty well made with a good thick shank.
The inside of the shank of the ring has been stamped by the Assay Office in London. The Assay Office was established in the 1300's, they test the Precious Metal content of articles submitted to them and will only put their mark on items which have the correct Silver or Gold content, hence this stamp is your independent proof that this ring is made from Solid Silver. The mark includes 925, the Leopards Head and the Royal Lion.
The ring is extremely well made by British Jewellers so the quality is extremely high.
