Did you know that a wok is a perfect vessel for cooking popcorn? Neither did we until we wanted to try Alton Brown's popcorn recipe. We don't have a large stainless steel mixing bowl, so husband used our wok instead (one of the standard steel varieties, not an electric wok). Turns out the wok concentrates the heat at the bottom, allowing the popped kernels to rise and ensuring that virtually everything pops. Amazing. Leave it to AB to improve on something as simple as popcorn.
