18:02 Enjoying my Kirigami page a day calendar. Now to figure out what to do with all the lovely end bits. #Automatically shipped by LoudTwitter
13:28 @dwivian I'm feeling cranky too. Must be something in the air. # 13:32 During the Chipmunk movie yesterday, the toddler next to me sang along with the SpongeBob theme. Tres adorable!! # 13:58 Orbit Raspberry Mint gum tastes like cough syrup. Ick. #Automatically shipped by LoudTwitter
Well, the LoudTwitter posted someone else's twitters instead of mine. Sigh. I think I've got it corrected now. We'll see tomorrow I suppose.I kind of like the hit-and-run aspect of posting via twitter. Strangely, it makes me want to make longer posts.Off to lunch with greenabina and family soon. I still haven't finished her daughter's blanket. Bad Sumobabe, no cookie.Saw the Chipmunk movie again yesterday. Still funny.Sumkid got a battery operated pottery wheel from her cousin for Christmas, so we've been outside playing with that this morning. Fun stuff. Makes me want to try making pottery for real. Not that I'm a huge fan of pottery pieces. I just think I'd enjoy the process. Probably because I didn't make enough mud pies as a kid.
Today was my mother's 70th birthday. We had a lovely lunch with all the kids, all the grandkids (save one who is in NC still) some cousins, friends, and the ladies from her Sunday School class. She was quite surprised and moved, and seemed to enjoy herself. The food itself was kind of meh, but that's not why we were there, after all. Later the husband, Sumokid and I played Hit or Miss, a game I got for Christmas. Much fun, especially the "sandwich" and "native to Australia" rounds.
TV Character: Justice will not serve itself!Sumokid: No, in has to be tossed in a light sauce.
I am pleased to say that the husband's foot has healed sufficiently that he has been released from all of his fancy footwear and bandages! Woohoo! He'll be fitted for new diabetic shoes tomorrow, along with a new set of orthotics, but 'til then, he's back in his boots. :)In unrelated news, Sumokid dressed her toy pony in a t-shirt with a picture of a horse on the front and announced, "Let the irony begin!"We had a lovely Christmas. We surprised husband with a gift that actually moved him to tears. I love my new mp3 player, though I have yet to fully put it through its paces. Sumokid is madly making bath salts from her spa science kit. And Santa brought me cotton candy flavored Pop Rocks! Santa is the best.
Yeah, that's supposed to sound like the SchoolHouse Rock song. Anyway...Got the new desktop computer in January. Power supply died. Power supply got replaced, and in the process, the repairman apparently broke the bracket that holds the fan in place. Not a problem as the computer works fine sitting on its side while waiting to be taken to Atlanta to have the fan replaced/repaired. Except that now the power won't come on either. So, not being able to do my work without a computer, I rented a laptop. I've had it two weeks, and have managed to render the zero key partially non-functional by splattering coffee all over the place (note to self: make sure the lid is on before shaking bottle of iced coffee) and broke the 2 USB ports on the side when I dropped the laptop yesterday. Probably would have been fine if I hadn't had a USB mouse plugged in at the time.Sigh.I've got a call in to our utility provider. I've come to the conclusion that something is wonky with our electricity. Since January, we've lost 3 computer power supplies, a printer, and had our TV stop working. All of which were plugged into surge protectors even.In better news, I've been doing my Christmas shopping online this year. I have finished ordering everything for Sumokid, and have all of husband's presents ordered save one. I went a little overboard for Sumokid, but as I figure this may be one of the last years we have the magic of Santa, I didn't care. Sumokid is wrapping all the presents this year except hers, and having great fun with it.
We saw the movie Enchanted yesterday. It was very good. Definitely one we'll be buying on DVD, and Sumokid has already said she wants the soundtrack.Husband has been freed from the wheelchair and can now walk with special footwear. Yeah!Must remember to buy hamster food today.
There's too much to explain. Too much to sum up. So you get a stream of consciousness update. Husband had surgery last week. The little toe on his left foot was amputated, along with part of the 5th metatarsal bone. Nasty bone infection secondary to a diabetic ulcer. The good news is that he's home, he's healing, and it looks like all will be well. His blood pressure is a concern, as is the fact that there's still swelling in his foot and leg. Sumokid is playing with mini-marshmallows and waiting for me to help her finalize her birthday plans for later this week. I can't believe she's going to be 8. Seems like only yesterday.... Thanksgiving was good. We had a lot to be thankful for, and the stuffing with dried cranberries, smoked sausage and pecans was especially good. I had a birthday. Forty-eight and counting. The husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Sumokid was a hula dancer for Halloween. My computer went out again and I'm about to send it off for repairs. 'Til it returns, I've rented a lap top. Husband's work is going well. They've been officially open for 1 week and so far they have 14 patients. Sumokid gave a presentation at the last homeschool event. Her topic was Japanese New Year, and she did quite well. I've re-read the first 2 novels in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series in preparation for reading books 3-5. Good stuff. My nephew got married. My cousin got engaged. 's all good.
