Naše grčko vjenčanje – dan drugi / Our big fat greek wedding – day two

Draghi Nashi,

The next day came. We don't have many photos for this photo because the batteries in the camera decided to take a rest at about noon so we are waiting for the Belgian girls to send us their photos. Belgians were our roommates for this occasion. One of them went to the school with us and Zoe, and that is Katelijne, and the other one is Ine, her friend.

Then we went to the market. Actually, these photos should end up in the special supplement named Hungry&thirsty but we don’t have photos so... Those with the sensitive stomachs should skip this photo, but we don’t mind, because we eat head and everything else.

I min isto rečemo sardela!

We call them “sardela” too

A večer prin imali smo zanimljivu raspravu Južne Europe (Grkinja i Min) protiv Sjeverne (dvi Belgijanke).

Then we left the market because our head was already full – everybody was shouting and we couldn’t understand a word. In that moment the camera batteries were over so we are waiting for the Belgians to send us the photos and we’ll upgrade this post then.
We went for a coffee. Actually, the night before we had an interesting discussion of South Europe (the Greek and us) vs. North Europe (the Belgians girls). South Europe claimed that to sit in a café for a coffee is more then just having a cup of coffee. Particularly on Saturday morning. The argument of the North Europe was that why should we have a coffee if we just had it for breakfast at home. South Europe said “Uff”, that is not the point. We said that where we come from the Saturday morning coffee is a social event and that a chick dedicated a whole chapter of her book to describe the rules of the Saturday morning coffee. Northern Europe still couldn’t understand: it is OK to have a coffee e.g. when we meet in the afternoon for a coffee and a cake, but that there is no point for going for a coffee just for the sake of going for a coffee. At the end we diplomatically concluded that we are talking about insuperable cultural differences.

Ovo je ta kafa. S kolačima. Mljac.

this is the koffee. With cakes. Yummie.

We continued from a shop to a shop in a very slow pace and finally came to the Museum of Byzantine Culture . The girls went to see themuseum, but as we were there last year we waited for them in the atrium ie. Restaurant. With another coffee. We set our minds free and enjoyed the moment. Also, there was a man checking the light bulbs and we were happy to see that they are preparing everything for Zoe’s party tomorrow.

Ovo je i naša kafa u Muzeju bizantske umjetnosti. Ovo je Nescaffe Frappe. Grci kuru na Nescaffe Frappe. Primjetite i ukusno uređen atrij u kojem ćemo sutra festat.

E da, išli smo i na još jednu kafu. U hotel Electra, tamo di smo bili prošli put ( klik.

Priskočit ćemo sad sve do večere kad smo išli u Kitchenbar.

Skiping to the dinner. We went to the Kitchenbar. Once a port warehouse now it is a fancy restaurant and bar. Fancy but cool. The food is really great, and considering that a coffee in Thessaloniki costs 4-5 € the price of the meal 10-12 € is really not much. So, dear readers, once you're in Thessaloniki we warmly recommend you the Kitchenbar.

I to Grčka-Rusija!
Photobucket
If you look a bit closer you’ll see that the game is on the screens. Greece-Russia!

To nas dovodi do nezaobilazne teme nogometa.

That brings us to the inevitable theme: the football. While our nation is crazy and paints the houses in red and white squares, the atmosphere in Greece is like there is a championship in synchronize swimming going on. That day was the Greece vs. Russia, and we haven’t seen one person wearing the national football shirt, or a flag, or something. Nothing. And we were explaining them that there are organized public viewings of the games in Croatia. And they tell us that they do that too but only when it is something very important. Well, this is important!

A to ste, dragi Nashi, Vin.

Then we met a girl, a colleague of Zoe, that was telling us that she’ll take us to a bar where cult guys hang out. And we went crazy because we told her that we know only one person who would use the word cult in such contest. And that is You, dear Daleky. We liked her immediately and she is already our Facebook friend.

Sad smo min vrtili s očima. rolleyes
