Yellow clock I've been needing a clock for the bathroom because sometimes (often) I lose all track of time when I'm getting ready. We found this metal outdoor clock in a cheerful shade of yellow on sale at Restoration Hardware. Also, a cat key hook rack. Notice we bought two of the cheapest things in the store. That place is gorgeous but freakin' expensive! Kurame/Kibune Restaurant They open up these outdoor restaurants for certain periods of the year. I think the owners were a little bit surprised that we were happy to pay the money for lunch. I guess they are used to most tourists wanting the cheapest things to eat. Arch of Titus w/ The Colosseum The Arch provides the only contemporary depiction of sacred articles taken from the Temple in Jerusalem. The seven-branched menorah and trumpets are clearly depicted. It became one of the most poignant symbols of the diaspora. In a later era, Pope Paul IV made it the place of a yearly oath of submission, forced by the Pope on the Jews of the new Roman Ghetto.[4] The arch bore such significance for Roman Jews, that they refused to walk under it. The Arch of Titus, constructed using pentelic marble, is arranged in five bays with an ABA rhythm, the side bays perpendicular to the central axial arch. The corners are articulated with a massive order of engaged columns that stand on a high ashlar basement. The capitals are Corinthian, but with prominent volutes of the Ionic order projecting laterally above the acanthus foliage—the earliest example of the composite order. Above the main cornice rises a high, weighty attic on which is a central tablet bearing the dedicatory inscription. The entablatures break forward over the columns and the wide central arch, and the profile of the column shafts transforms to square. Shaded Garden The forecast was for 3 days of scorching weather, so I put up some shade for plants that would suffer. Last year during a ten day run of 100° days things shriveled up. Ten days like that is unheard of, definately a global warming phenomenon. Our summers are usually tempered by coastal fog. We would normally be fogged in until 10 a.m. every day, but that is happening very infrequently these days. The fog did save us this week though by pushing in at the coast. Though it was warm it was not a scorcher. Shade garden Things are starting to happen in the shade garden. The bleeding heart will bloom soon (and grow much taller), and the hostas and ferns are putting in an appearance. The push out was really needed to break up the 80 some foot wall and also creates quite a nice space for a sink area that does not clutter up the flow of the bathroom. It is a very tall room of above 10 feet I believe and really has a lot of light throughout the day as there is clerestories facing North and East along with the large window to the south. The shower is getting closer to what I would consider ideal in that it has plenty of natural light and also it has a limited view to the outdoors from the users vantage. As awkward as that sounds, I like that you can look at something as non-static as nature from your shower. In an average house showers are shoved into a closet like setting because the average homeowner is too squeamish to have a window in their bathroom. I envision that if this was my house I would not have a window shade in the entire house. The windows have been placed strategically for ample daylighting and indirect ambient light where the most harsh rays will fall. In example this bathroom, is some 20 feet from grade and unless you were on a cherry picker one could not see into the bathroom from the public venue. Yet the slices of views you get from the sink area and through the louvers in the shower really allow you an awesome vantage point that retains a very private feeling too. As an added bonus, the roof of the kitchen is in the perfect position (incidentally) to have a nice green roof terrace right off the master bath with that being the only access. Materials are, cement countertop again, frosted glass shower, teak louvers, walnut flooring, and red cedar siding that wraps in from the exterior into the bump out. Rendered in Maxwell 12SL Hollis Building This building is 'green' in some ways and not 'green' in others. The exterior wall is brick, which is very low maintenance There are also brick walkways which are very permeable. Between the large tree and the overhangs there is plenty of exterior shading. These factors make this building fairly green. This building is not green because only a small portion of this side of the building is covered by windows providing little natural light. The ocean, una sorpresa. Crec que les cares de concentracio i bocabadamenta a la llarga intro que ens van oferir van ser un senyal del que van sorprendre aquest quintet amb un bateria molt solid, ritmes ben estranys, veu una mica hardcoreta (punt en contra...) i molt de moviment a l'escenari! (segons he llegit, un dels guitarres es va fotre el mastil al cap a Madrid...). Cynic, probablement el mes progressiu dels tres grups que tocaven aquella nit, amb un Paul Masvidal que es va ficar la gent a la butxaca parlant catala i espanyol. Un grup que ha ressorgit de les cendres despres de l'exit a principis dels 90, i que ha tornat amb moltissima forca i tecnica... brutals!!! Llastima que se'ls va anar el corrent als aparells i no els van deixar continuar despres per manca de temps. I despres d'una bona estona d'espera entre els gos grups (cosa que va fer molta rabia.... tallen als Cynic i despres ens fan esperar), van arribar Opeth sota el so de la intro que es pot sentir tambe al Rounhouse Tapes (un pel llarga per al meu gust) i comencant amb un llarg acord de Heir Apparent (segon tema del darrer Watershed i el primer metal·lic, despres d'un coil melodic amb veu femenines). Una posta en escena molt mes cuidada que en les anteriors gires, amb aparells de llums propis creant atmosferes adequades a cada tema, un Friedrik Akesson un pel mes mogut i comunicatiu (tampoc us penseu, no es la festa, l'home) que el Peter Lindgren a qui substitueix des de fa un any, un Per Wilberg fent headbanging tota l'estona, un Mikael Akerfeldt divertit i sense fer-se pesat... En general, la qualitat que sempre ofereixen malgrat, com va dir en Mikael, alguns d'ells estaven febrosos i refredats. Nomes una queixa: 1:30h. es correcte pero insuficient per a Opeth, perque amb temes de 10 minuts els setlists queden curtissims: Heir Apparent, The Grand Conjuration, Godhead's Lament, Hope Leaves, The Lotus Eater, Deliverance, Demon of the Fall i Drapery Falls de BIS. My favourite chair Sadly very little info exists about this chair except for an old sticker that has since come off that read "Angel Chair". I found it in an old design warehouse in Mexico in downtown Puerto Vallarta along with some other too used modern pieces including frames for Eames chairs and broken fiberglass molds. While the shop was pristine, this chair was dirty and dusty but I got it back to the US with little trouble. It's all wood, solid for the most part, heavy, and my favourite piece. The shop closed its doors 2 days after I got this. Modern Guilt yarn 2 Handspun yarn made by me from my own hand carded batts. This yarn is corespun (spun around a thin 'core' yarn). The yarn contains some 'Turquoise Boy' hand dyed merino wool, cashmere and silk blend from Limegreenjelly at Etsy, dyed merino in grey, two shades of turquoise and hot pink, mystery grey wool, carbonised bamboo fibre (Black Diamond) and angelina sparkle in peacock, raspberry and marcasite grey. 158g and 140metres in total. I was stopped by the police on the M6 near Walsall once because I was driving slowly in torrential rain with no windscreen wipers. Fortunately I could talk to the officer through the sliding window - by that time the door wouldn't open without falling off its hinges. I would have gladly accepted the ?2000 cash to scrap this vehicle since it cost me the grand sum of ?35. Ah, the Good Old Days. This shot was taken looking north on the old A46 Fosse Way just before it swings right & passes under the Midland main line railway bridge where one of Syston Junction's signal boxes used to stand. The vehicles in the distance are travelling on the dual carriageway bypass that replaced Fosse Way in the late 1960s. Syston South Junction Syston South Junction signal box was located by the Up Goods line north of the former Syston station controlling the junction for the curve to Syton East Junction. Monday 26th August 1985 Syston South Junction signal box was a Midland Railway Type 4c design which opened on 26th November 1911 fitted with a 57 lever Midland Railway tappet frame, replacing an earlier box. Closure came on 11th April 1987 when signalling from Syston to Loughborough and Frisby passed to Leicester signal box The nameboard is a London Midland and Scottish Railway post-1935 design and the two window saches at the far end of the signal box have been replaced by type "a" design windows syston roller shutters This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series.
