Title Translation: Something Happened To My Heart...Her name is...Geum Jan Di
The title "Something happened to my heart" is a popular song by A&T off the Boys Over Flowers soundtrack.
I promised I'd do it and I did. I made a collague of Geum Jan Di (???) and Gu Jun Pyo (???) from the hit Korean drama Boys Over Flowers (??? ??)
This took me about 72 hours (not straight) to find every picture, cut them, modify > expand (for the white outline), put together and blend every picture.
It took me forever to make this, please dont take it and say its your own. Thank you.
From Left to Right:
Koo Hye Sun (???) as Geum Jan Di
Lee Min Ho (???) as Gu Jun Pyo
I made this collague because I absolutely fell in love with this couple and in celebration of finishing all 25 episodes, I thought I would make a collague to share with all my friends at Flickr!
*CLICK ALL SIZES TO SEE THE IMAGE LARGER!*
Please Note: This picture is about 1024 x 683, Slow computer beware!
Unfortunately, Flickr did not upload the original size of 1500 x 1000, which make the quality of picture much lower but still good. I'm terribly sorry.

Ostrich Feather Arrangement
How to create ostrich feather centerpieces using feathers:
You will need:
25 Ostrich Feather Plumes per centerpiece 26-28 inches long (the plumes give the centerpiece the height and fullness)
Eiffel tower glass vases
2-3/4 wide x 7 1/2 inch tall inch bouquet holders with foam, straight handle.
Floralytes
Start by placing the feathers along the bottom edge of the floral foam in the bouquet holder. You will want to work your way around the bouquet holder and place feathers around the bottom of it. A day before the event, take the feather bouquet holder out and put in your floralytes. Make sure you measure your vase before you buy your floralytes to make sure the lights will fit inside the vase.
Ostrich Plumes
1 for $6.00
25 for $150- makes one centerpiece
500 for $2,800- makes 20 centerpieces
Cupcake bouquet
It was a cupcake birthday all the way. This is not the $29 cupcake bouquet that 1-800-Flowers is advertising all over town but a smaller homemade imitation. Betsy had the holder. I bought the baby mums and some florists foam, and a leftover Menorah candle was just the right size.

Arizona Cactus Flower
The Cereus Peruvianus (Peruvian Apple) Cactus blooms at night with gigantic pearl white flowers a half foot in diameter. It is one of the worlds most amazing flowers of beauty.
This flower lingers into the early morning hours. By midday the flower closes forever.
It is such a shame that such awesome beauty lasts only a few hours.
Those lucky enough to catch a glimpse are truly fortunate.

Shiny Flower Macro
I believe this flower is commonly called a "Straw Flower". It's about 1 1/4" in diameter and the shine is unbelievable to see. You have to look very closely to notice it. It shines and glows so merrily, I just had to try for the capture. Seen in a landscaped garden pot, outside a business complex in Tucson.

Flower Pot
Artist: Daniel Brown
Made from a single uncut square, this is a variation on my Dozen Roses model. This model's base is a simple bird base while the Roses version has a twelve-pointed bird base-derived starting point.
You'd think this one was first designed and the Roses came from a modification, but I didn't even think to make a four-stemmed version until after the Roses design was completed.
Anyway, they have the same basic idea but this one's significantly easier to manage. The flower petals came out really nice and I was able to sink the stems down past the rim of the pot - an aesthetic touch that I wasn't able to manage on the Dozen Roses.
I'm very happy with it!
"Just an Orchid..."
(Thanks to all who have commented on my photos.
Please also feel free to add constructive criticism as well. I want to grow…)
A textured photo of a simple brown and purple coloured Cattleya bicolor which started flowering during February. The colour combination of this bloom is quite startling and very pleasing.

Here is a dress circa mid-1800s along with a cockade to trim her hair. The dress has period styling, sloped shoulders, full sleeves, and very wide and full skirt. The fabric I chose is a cotton reproduction print from the era, in warm browns with old fashioned strawberries. To accent the dress, I chose a berry colored cotton solid for the waistband, cuffs, and cockade. The cuffs close with a snap, in order to hold the cuff close to her wrists and have the sleeves blouse properly. The lined bodice is trimmed with hand applied berry colored soutache trim, at the neckline and above the gathered section of the bodice. The hemline is embellished with the same colored wider decorative braid. The hem is about 2 and 1/2 inches from the floor, a proper length for a girl's dress from those times. The dress closes in the back with three small brown buttons, and hand worked button loops.
A cockade is a decoration popular in the 1800s - a circular, rosette shape worn in the hair, or on a hat. The cockade I have made is of the berry cotton fabric, gathered fully, then hand stitched to form the layered rosette shape. In the center is an ivory gauze flower with beads, and I've also added two streamers of ivory silk ribbon.

Park Street Bristol BS1
Park Street rises steeply from College Green, the grassed area between the Cathedral and the Lord Mayor's Chapel.
This was once farmland, given over to dairy cattle and known as Bullock's Park. In 1740 Alderman Day was granted land to build a street 40 feet wide up to the entrance to Royal Fort. The Georgian townhouses which later flanked the street were designed by Thomas and William Paty.
In 1775 their inhabitants were merchants like Alderman Richard Farr, doctors like William Moncrieffe MA and gentlemen like Henry Graeme. By the 1820s however Mr Morel, a florist and Mrs Pool, a dressmaker and milliner were advertising in the newspapers as having premises in the street
More and more houses were gradually converted into shops during Victorian times. In 1896, when the columned shop front below was inserted, it was reported in the newspaper that 'the exigencies of business are making increased demands upon premises in Park Street and houses which have for years retained the outward semblance of private residences are by degrees yielding to the inevitable'
The original gradient of Park Street was 1 in 12, which caused great hardship to horses drawing carriages, carts and later buses up the hill. A suggestion to throw an arch across at the bottom to span the dip to Frogmore Street and Frog Lane was put forward in December 1856 but it was not untiil 1863 that the council officially considered the possibility of such a viaduct at that spot. Despite complaints by the inhabitants of Frogmore Street, that they would be 'bridged out of existence', the viaduct was finally completed in 1870.

Ginger Torch in the Peruvian Amazon
Growing at Tambo Yanayacu, Iquitos. It looks a bit like Ginger Torch (Etlingera elatior) ... normally found in south-east Asia.
From Wikipedia -
Etlingera is a genus of Indo-Pacific terrestrial and perennial herbs in the ginger family, Zingiberaceae consisting of more than 100 different species found, mostly, near the equator.
Some of the larger species have leafy shoots reaching almost 10 metres high, and the bases of these shoots are so stout as to seem almost woody. Others of the species grow as clumps of leafy shoots; while others have such long creeping Rhizomes that each of their leafy shoots can be more than a metre apart.
Unique and distinctive to all Etlingera is a tube forming above the point where the base of the flowers petals joins onto the plant (i.e. above the insertion of the corolla lobes).
The Etlingera are native to India, Bangladesh, Burma, China, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Papua New Guinea, Australia, and several Pacific Islands, predominantly close to the equator between sea level and 2500 metres.
The most commonly known species of Etlingera is the "Torch Ginger" (E. elatior), also called the "Torch Lily", "Porcelain Rose", or "Philippine Waxflower" because of its stunning inflorescence.
Ethnobotany
Species of Etlingera are widely used for many different purposes and many of the species are therefore locally named and known.
A common use of the Etlingera is to pull out and eat the inner sheathes of the leafy shoots of some species: to eat either raw, cooked as a vegetable, or as a condiment (much in the same way as onions are used as a condiment). Etlingera coccinea and Etlingera elatior, are especially cultivated and grown for this purpose.
The aromatic sweet and sour fruits of the Etlingera are also commonly eaten. Several species are used as medicines to treat headaches, or stomach aches, and, one species which itself has large distinctive red patches, (Etlingera brevilabrumin), is commonly applied, externally, to relieve itching and assist treat skin problems.
Other uses made of various Etlingera species include as ingredients in local perfumes, as ingredients in local shampoo, and as an optional material for making mats etc. In Borneo, a study of 40 species of Etlingera found that more than 70% of these species had alternative local names, and more than 60% of them had at least one use amongst local peoples.
A Weekend Rose for my Flickr Friends
Who can estimate the elevating and refining influences and moral value
of flowers with all their graceful forms, bewitching shades and combinations
of colors and exquisitely varied perfumes? These silent influences are
unconsciously felt even by those who do not appreciate them consciously
and thus with better and still better fruits, nuts, grains, vegetables and
flowers, will the earth be transformed, man's thought refined, and turned
from the base destructive forces into nobler production. One which will
lift him to high planes of action toward the happy day when the Creator
of all this beautiful work is more acknowledged and loved, and where man
shall offer his brother man, not bullets and bayonets, but richer grains,
better fruit and fairer flowers from the bounty of this earth.

White Mimosa Tree and its green lustrous seed pods
Originally from China, Mimosa or Silk tree was introduced to the United States in 1745 and cultivated since the 18th century primarily for use as an ornamental. Mimosa remains a popular ornamental because of its fragrant and showy flowers. Due to its ability to grow and reproduce along roadways and disturbed areas, and its tendency to readily establish after escaping from cultivation.
Mimosa is a deciduous, small to medium-sized tree that can grow 20 to 40 feet tall. It is a member of the legume (Fabaceae) plant family and is capable of fixing nitrogen. The bark is light brown and smooth while young stems are lime green in color, turning light brown and covered with lenticels. Leaves are alternately arranged and bipinnately compound (6 to 20 inches long), having 20 to 60 leaflets per branch. The leaf arrangement gives mimosa a fern-like or feathery appearance. Mimosa flowering occurs from May through July. Pom-pomesque flowers are borne in terminal clusters at the base of the current year’s twigs. The flowers are fragrant and pink in color, about 1? inches long. Fruits are flat and in pods, a characteristic of many legumes. Pods are straw-colored and 6 inches long containing 5 to 10 light brown oval-shaped seeds about ? inch in length. Pods typically persist on the plant through the winter months.
Mimosa reproduces both vegetatively and by seed. Seeds require scarification in order to germinate. This characteristic allows the seed to remain dormant for many years. Normally seeds are dispersed in close proximity of the parent plant; however, seeds can also be dispersed by water. Wildlife may also contribute to the spread of mimosa through the ingestion and excretion of the seeds. Vegetative reproduction occurs when trees are cut back, causing quick resprouting and regrowth.

????--??/ ????????Mr. Lachlan MacQuarrie's earth jouney is ended
Dear friends:
Thank you wholeheartly for your condolences and sympathy to me and the family via e mails/cards and long distance calls.
The last few days, son Kelvin, daughters Janet, Karen and son-in-law Louis were busily helping me to go through all the necessary legal procedures which I have to deal with. The kids just let me to have a "quiet" time to contact their father's cousins and friends on phone re their father's passing.
Friends in town and neighbours come in, give me big "hugs" and bring me "goodies" which they specially prepare for me. What a blessing I have from Our Lord.

Eastern Treasures - Cherry Blossoms - ORIGINAL Acrylic Painting on Canvas BoardFrom TigerWings
I traveled to China and Hong Kong for the first time earlier this year and I decided to put the photo's to good use and use them as my inspiration for paintings.
I have always been fascinated by all things Chinese. Although I love traditional Chinese Artwork, my idea was to adapt it to my style. I hope you like it.
This is an original Acrylic painting on canvas board. All of my artwork is sealed with a fixative, sent in a plastic sleeve for protection and comes with a signed COA.
This painting is 5" x 7".
