I made this as a Christmas present for Ada. All the wood aside from the knobs, which are beads from the bead store downtown, is salvaged. The finish is a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil. The bottoms of the drawers are scraps from the box of bees we hived last spring. The glue holding it all together I made out of gelatin I heated in a custard cup in a saucepan on the stove. The "underthing" poking out of the top drawer is a piece of the cotton diaper I used to apply the beeswax. The crayons are for scale.

I work with wood... toys, cabinets, furniture, decks... doesn't really matter what I'm making, I just love the touch and the smell of wood. I make lots of sawdust ... and occasionally some keepers.
Pictured here is a small assortment of the toys I've made for my son, the lecturn for my laptop, some pens... No scrap of wood is too small that I can't find something worthwhile in it.

Ben10 Omnitrix
My new Omnitrix just came in and is now on my wrist. It's from Ben 10 show on cartoon network. Its neat ^_^ Too bad I can't actually turn into one of the aliens.
The only suggestion I would want to give would be that the white pipes should wrap around the strap just like in the show.
What would be even cooler would be that the little alien display thing was actually a full screen that could display the actual screen animation from the show.

I had many bizarre interests as a child and Roger Rabbit was one of them. I was fascinated with the idea of the animated characters I loved so dearly living side by side with "real" people, and I was convinced this situation had to exist somewhere, if not southern California.
This is a souvenir from Disneyland.

So here we are with a comparison. From left to right: day one, one year, and two years.
I love how they've changed and grown and matured. The day I got them was definitely the beginning of a total life transformation for both my hair and for me. This set definitely represents major life changes for me and I love them for all they have meant to me. I look forward to many more years with them as we both continue to grow together.

One of the problems this figure has is the magentic face piece of the helmet. It looks great in this shot but it took me some time to arrange it this way. Attach it just an itsy bitsy tiny but to far behind or in front and it looks like he's wearing a cap wrong.

Blue entered this life in Calgary Alberta Canada with her six siblings of her mother Holly. From the very first day she was special. She had beautiful colour and markings and a comedic talent not shared by any of the others in the litter. Her ability to make people laugh stayed with her throughout her life. It was not just a puppy trait that went away when adulthood was reached.
As was my custom with respect to breeding, I kept one pup from the litter. It was an easy choice really. Blue was the pup everyone wanted. It got to the point that when prospective buyers came to see the litter, Blue had to be hidden from view. It was not that she was the most beautiful or the most playful, all the pups were beautiful and playful. She had a charismatic sweetness, expression and manner that was irresistible to people.
While growing up she made handling classes, dog shows, and off-leashed long walks or hikes, a pure joy. She was attentive, obedient, smart, friendly and a perfectly behaved companion. All of this came to her naturally and effortlessly. There were no lengthy, strenuous training sessions. Blue just knew.
As a Greyhound she had it all; speed, focus, good looks and strong instincts. She had impeccable behaviour. She never did anything wrong in the house, she always came when called, stayed close when walking off-leash, and didn't treat fluffy little fou-fou dogs like stuffed toys. She stood her ground against menacing strangers, tidied the hair of ear and tail pulling toddlers, comforted you in bed when you had the flu and licked away your tears when you had a sad moment.
Together we attended dog shows, oval racing, lure coursing and had fun with all of it.
People who don't know better complain that dogs are great in every aspect except that they can't talk. Not a problem with Blue. She was always able to communicate extensively using her body language, doggy voices, teeth clicking and her beautifully expressive eyes. She was at her best when demanding treats and walks but was easily understood when asking to be tucked into her bed at night, go outside to do her business, reminding us of mealtime and notifying us of visitors before they ever got close to the door.
At middle age she was bred and delivered a litter of six beautiful black puppies. While none of them looked like her, the pups all displayed behavioural characteristics that easily identified them as "Blues Babies". They were so great that we had to break tradition and keep two of them, Ch. Norwick Black Ghost F.Ch (Ghosty) and Ch. Norwick Blackhawk (Scunker). Blue loved her offspring and had them as company for the last five years of her life.
The twelve and a half years Blue was with us was a joyful and wonderful time. Much has been written about the loyalty and uncompromising love dogs bestow on there owners. We are convinced that it was all written for the benefit of Blue.
Her sudden passing has left a huge vacuum in our home and in our hearts. For the rest of our lives when we go on walks with her offspring, or to lure coursing, or to a dog show she will be with us in our hearts. Mental visions of Blue, nose to the ground, eagerly searching for dog treasures in our forest will never grow dim.
Rest in peace our loyal friend. We miss you very much. You were the perfect Greyhound and our Princess. Your offspring Ghosty and Scunker knew you were getting weaker and treated you with great gentleness. They loved being close to you and snuggling up to you.

When i was in my mid 20's, my mom was a foster parent. She had decided that she would be a foster parent in order to give back and she was quickly asked to take in a 1 year old. She was told he would soon be reunited with mom and would probably only be with her for 3 to 6 months.
Well, 6 years later . . . :)
Dyllan will always be "my first baby." i dressed him, put him down for naps, took him to the doctor a couple of times. i bought him clothes and toys and lots and lots of books. Mom and i acted as a parenting team when it came to many outings, family events and holidays. i took him to this street fair where we did this finger painting and figured out how to make finger painting work for a developmentally delayed, ADHD 2 year old with such low muscle tone that he could barely stand or walk. (psssst, for all those mommies out there, here is the secret: rather than taking a crawling toddler out of the stroller and putting him on the tarp with other painting children, i used three smock shirts to smock him and the stroller and kept him in it. Obviously, i used my hand to guide his for the name writing) i took him for his first beach trip and took this pic after. i took him swimming. And above all, if i was around, he would not allow anyone else to bathe him because i apparently give the most entertaining toddler baths!
Dyllan had issues inherited from his horrendous first year of life but was a smart, sensitive, caring, sweet little boy. He had a way of working his way into the hearts and affections of even the most stoic I-don't-really-like-kids types (like my brother, smile). After joking for years that i never wanted to do the horrible things to myself that pregnancy does and that i would adopt, i arrived at a place where it stopped being a joke.
i know with deep certainty that i am the kind of person who can deeply bond with a child that isn't biologically connected to me. And so, the sting of finding out that my bod isn't well designed for pregnancy never hit full force when that news came years later.
My most passionate hope for my future is to adopt my own Dyllan.

Microman Spy Car #3 Racing Wolf #1
This is a nearly complete “Racing Wolf” vehicle from the 1976 Spy Magician Microman line of toys.
Definitely in “played in” condition—and is missing some parts—but otherwise a nice near complete vehicle from the Microman line. Note that stickers are applied and there is general dirt/wear from something like this being played with.
The only thing keeping this great piece from being 100% complete as a vehicle is it’s missing the rear white “hub” for one of the wheels that connects to the rear axle. It’s also missing the discs used by the disc launcher part of the toy. hard to explain without showing it in person, but basically the “Spy Car” vehicles were multi-purpose toys that in it’s basic mode was a vehicle for Microman, but can also be a set of toys/weapons for the kid who owns it. This one uses the rear wheels as spinning tops and it’s front chasis as a disc launcher.

TM Community service day. Cici, yardie, Todeki and I went to 'A Place Called Home' to help with the art program.
These have to be the most adorable, joyful and talented group of kids ever. My favorite ones were Eddie, who kept taking pics of me and calling himself a spy, and Brian, the 12 year old graf artist who kept putting down Cope as a toy for doing gallery work. :)
Oh yeah, I also too a crump class with Tommy the clown. Hehe.

Nah, just yet another backdrop photo.
This is a 1:39 scale Ferrari 512 TR (the early 1990s variation of the Testarossa with a front borrowing elements from the F-348), made by Maisto, that I bought the other day from Zellers. The weird thing about this is that it was an "Assembly Line" kit, found in the section with the model kits rather than the pre-assembled model cars. Basically, the parts are pre-painted and pre-labeled, you just snap the individual pieces in place and then screw the top of the car to the chassis with the enclosed Phillips screwdriver... if you're an adult, it takes about 5 minutes, tops. It hardly deserves to even be called a "kit".
What I suspect the deal about calling this a "kit" is that Maisto wanted its own line of medium-scale (around 1:43) Ferrari toy cars, but, either the official Ferrari license for that scale was too expensive, or other companies, like BBR Models and Ixo/Hot Wheels, had the Ferrari medium-scale toy car license already for the various parts of the word. But, if they acquire the license to sell it as a "kit", it's either more affordable for Maisto than the pre-assembled Ferrari toy car license or they don't have the competing license issues with other toy/model companies, so they sell it as a "kit" even though it's already 95% complete and the purchaser only has to perform a couple of token screw turns. That's just idle speculation... I really have no idea.
It's not nearly as detailed as the 1:43 scale Ixo/Hot Wheels models, but it looks pretty decent, at least on the exterior, and I only paid about $6 Canadian for it, so I ain't complaining. Plus, unlike the Ixo/Hot Wheels versions, it has a pull-back wind-up motor, so I can annoy my dogs with it.
Trivia fact: In the Sailor Moon anime, the villain Nephryte a.k.a. Masato Sanjouin/Maxfield Stanton drives a Ferrari that is obviously meant to be a F-512 TR, though the design is inconsistent from episode to episode.

So firstly topa -- study -- which is generally associated with technical knowledge and the understanding of the Scriptures and so on. Adult ADHD
I'm going to check this out and report back! Let me know if you'd like details.
One interesting thing I learned from my psychiatrist is that adult ADHD patients often present quite different symptoms from child ADHD patients, because adults have had years to develop compensatory behaviors.
For example, I don't really forget things that much (except for names), because I am extremely careful to write things down and make lists and notes. I can't do that for every person I meet (oh your name is Tommy? hold on one sec while I write that down-- ), so I'm pretty sure that's why my name recall is horrible.
Take the following diagnostic criteria (from the DSM-IV) for ADHD:
1.
a) Often fails to give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other activities
e) Often has difficulty organizing tasks and activities
f) Often avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort (such as schoolwork or homework)
g) Often loses things necessary for tasks or activities (eg, toys, school assignments, pencils, books, or tools)
Can you see how an adult, after years of embarrassment, suffering, and failure, might be able to develop techniques to overcome these things, and therefore not clearly meet the diagnostic criteria? It's not that they don't have ADHD anymore, it's that part of their brain cycles are constantly occupied with maintaining these compensatory subroutines.

My Dad Robert Huang bought this D70 many years ago while he was interested in setting up website & taking pictures. I have no idea when he started those. At that time I was quite busy in business. Still not had a hobby for photography.
After my Dad's sudden pass away in 2006, this camera was put in our warehouse for probably a whole year. At that time I merely remembered that my Dad owned a DSLR which was a bit expensive.
In 2007, one day I happened to think up that I should take up this camera, try to use it to image the feeling that my dad had while he was picturing. Therefore I took it out of the box, also found several different lenses together. At that time I did be impressed that my Dad really invested a lot of emotion(money also) on these equipments.
At first I was not practiced at using a SLR. Didn't know what the shutter speed, aperture, ISO were. I took very low & common pictures. The practicing process indeed was always with fun, actually until now I still feel what an amateur I am. With getting more practiced with D70, I had started to get different amazing feeling after I push every shutter.
I truly hoped I can touch the feeling when my Dad was using D70. Eventually I think I start to have the same feeling. Probably this is a way to get in touch with my Dad's image. Well, I am not sure.
D70 had a defective design on its memory card reader. It got declined then broken as time went by. Sometimes D70 could not detect the CF card; sometimes even destroyed the pictures I took. That was a bit dangerous causing my heartache. XD
This reader function got totally failed last year. I spent some money to get it repaired. After another 1 year until last weekend, this function totally failed again, could not detect the CF card anymore. It was really old. I decided not to repair it again. I let it retire, I keep it properly in my room.
I am truly impressed and appreciate what D70 had given me since these years. I keep my dad's image as part of me inside my heart with using D70.
Thanks for every moment, D70. I will move on.
Old Lightbulb Fading
My dad has this old shed where he keeps his bicycles and gardening stuff.
The shed is lit by a very old glowing lightbulb.
I was in the shed fetching a toy for my 4 year old son and when leaving the shed
I turned off the light. What struck me was the slow fading of the lightbulb.
The fading moment was very quick but I could still see it with my own eyes…
Hmm, I wonder…..Hmmm
Went in and fetched my camera and set it to 1/1000 of a sec and started firing of shots.
I got 3 shots and after looking at them I could see the lightbulb fade away.
In my eyes this is movement caught on “film”.

Ipanema - Ipanema beach - Ipanema Sunset
Ipanema is a neighborhood located on the southern region of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between Leblon and Arpoador. The beach at Ipanema became widely known by the song "The Girl from Ipanema" ("Garota de Ipanema"), written by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes.
It is famously known for its elegance and social qualities. Two mountains called the "Dois Irmaos" (Two Brothers) rise at the western end of the beach. The beach is divided into segments by marks known as "postos" (lifeguard towers). Beer is sold everywhere on the beach along with the traditional cachaca. There are always circles of people playing football, volleyball, and footvolley, a combination sport of volleyball and football originated in Brazil.
In the winter the surf can reach 9 feet. The water quality varies with days of light-blue water to a more murky green after heavy rains. Constant swells keep the water clean. The often treacherous beach break regularly forms barrels.
One interesting thing about Ipanema's beach is that there is an area called "the gay beach," situated near Rua Farme de Amoedo; which is well-known for being a gay-friendly area, with the rainbow flag flying in the air.
Just west of this colorful section and towards Leblon is another popular stretch of sand known as Posto Nove (aptly named after the 9th lifeguard tower) where young and often beautiful carioca men and women hipsters congregate.

A knitted toy shark from "Kath Dalmeny's World of Knitted Toys."
I used a Emu dk wook for the body and scraps of black floss, white felt, and a couple of black buttons for the eyes.
I call him "Kenny." Yes, after the shark in the cartoon.
The Dolphin
This is another baby gift I made for a friend who loves dolphins. I could only find one dolphin pattern, and it was in the book ?World of Knitted Toys? by Kath Dalmeny.

THe first in my line of Recycled Relatives.
Uncle Atticus is reanimated from old clothes! His suit and hat came from an old pant leg. His flower was taken from a green little girl dress which provided the band on the hat too. And I was lucky enough to find the white and black fabric at Goodwill.
He is even stuffed with (still in great quality) stuffing from an old teddy bear. The only new things used were the buttons and my tag.
Spooky recycling at it's finest!
He is a rare Spooky Daddy toy indeed. He is my first real art doll. He is made for kids old enough to know not to rip their cool toys apart. So he isn't safe for the wee ones like my usual stuff.

This is my piece for the space 242 gallery show circus themed show. It measures 22t x 14w x 6d. It took a better part of the last month to complete. I wish I had the know how and technology for this to take quarters and give fortunes. My idea was to create a sideshow arcade machine that was so creepy that your friends would dare you to try it. Thank you mr glue gun for all the help I couldn't have done it without you. Also you can have the kitchen table back hun and we can start eating dinner at the table and not on t.v. trays. I am glad that my family is willing to suffer with me for the art. Thanks guys!
