Celebs speak out about HIV/AIDS

Christina Aguilera, Elijah Wood and Cindy Crawford are using their fame for good-by shooting PSA's that'll help the group YouthAIDS save lives. Think you have a few years before you need to be concerned about HIV/AIDS? Wrong. More than 12 million of the world's 40 million HIV sufferers are under age 25, and one child under age 15 becomes infected with HIV every minute. That's why we sent teenager -Trendspotter Nora Davis, 16- to interview Christina Aguilera, Elijah Wood and Cindy Crawford about their work with YouthAIDS, an organization that fights the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people. The stars spent the day shooting ads to promore YouthAIDS dog tags, produced by Aldo, that will help raise money and awareness for the charity. To help keep yourself safe, however, you'll need something besides dog tags! Says Cindy, "You might be embarrassed to tell a guy to wear a condom, but it would be a lot of worse not to." Take her words to heart-and check out the dog tags below. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit YouthAIDS. Hear, See, Speak. Elijah, Christina and Cindy struck a pose to represent the theme of the dog-tag campaign. "Hear No Evil. See No Evil. Speak No Evil." "The evil in question is the AIDS pandemic," says Elijah. The ads, shot by renowned photographer Peter Lindbergh, will appear in more than 20 nations all over the world. How cool is Elijah Wood? Nora was nervous about interviewing him, but the Hollywood hobbit gave her a hug to calm her nerves before making a great point: "Girls get a lot of pressure from guys to have sex, but they have to be empowered not to give in," he says. "And do not move forward [sexually] unless you're protected." Only a cause as important as this would get Xtina to plaster duct tape-as in "Speak No Evil."-on her million-dollar kisser! "A lot of people think that [HIV/AIDS] is something that just happens to pathetic people, but it's affecting so many people every day. If you're going to be sexually active, you have to be responsible." How you can help!
