There are civilized people, but they're criminals and madmen.

PoE certainly has a steeper learning curve than similar games. The massive passive tree can be truly daunting to look at. You will more than likely have to plan out which path to take along the tree to reach the passive nodes that you want. The skill gem system may take a moment to get used to, but most other mechanics are intuitive. Changes to the spell system were largely confined to tinkering with the math to allow for more varied approaches to magic-based combat. Melee will get the same treatment, but Grinding Gear has much more in mind.
