The energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water through 1 °C, equal to one thousand small calories and often used to measure the energy value of foods
a unit of heat equal to the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree at one atmosphere pressure; used by nutritionists to characterize the energy-producing potential in food

It's just a number, it's just a number, it's just a number...
Week 12 of 52 weeks of feeling fit.
This has been a really big problem for me. I've been working out regularly (5-7 times a week), I've been eating between 1200 and 1500 calories a day. I make healthy choices-- only eating whole grains, not eating ANY junk food, making well balanced meals, etc. Yet my weight is so inconsistent. This morning I weighed myself wearing just underwear and a light-weight tank top and I came out 124.2 lbs. I weigh myself wearing the same thing every morning and normally I'm around 121 or 122.
I know that I need to stop obsessing about my weight, it's just a number but it's not that easy for me.
I know that since I've started going to the gym regularly my legs went from flabby to mostly muscle (just a tiny bit of flab left). I know that with the exception of when I have a "food baby" my belly is relatively flat and toned.
This doesn't change the fact that my weight fluctuation is annoying, and that I obsess over it. A few days ago I was around 120. Now I'm at 124.2. A big change in a couple of days, especially since I've been only eating healthy meals.
Ugh, I know it's stupid... but I can't help freaking out about that stupid number on the scale.
Sometimes I think I should just get rid of it.
Meet GI Jane...
Meet GI Jane. Jane's a happy soldier because he ingests 1200+ calories a meal, the equivalent of eating a whole pig. Each and every MRE adds three pounds of solid fat that she quickly converts to muscle while defending the freedoms you hold dear.
Actually, Jane looks a little she has a little junk in her trunk. It's probably hard to diet when you're on patrol in 130 degree heat keeping an eye out for suicide bombers.
