O čemu razmišlja i brine jedna plesačica

Stranica jedne mlade plesačice

1. Take care of my body

a. Eat healthy
b. Get enough sleep and rest
c. Warm-up before every rehearsal
d. Treat injuries sensibly
e. Take ballet class everyday...if none is offered, give myself one

2. Develope my role

a. Practice the individual movements that need technical improvement until they are consistently stronger
b. Analyze the meaning, motivation or musicality of each step or group of steps
c. Practice the arms in fromt of a mirror until the line & style of them suits the individual role i am performing
d. Ask questions of myself about patterns, musicality, specific por de bras....if not sure of the answers ask the choreographer
e. Research my role by having other dancers perform it, reading about its history and by listening to the music until it is a part of my body

3. Develope a classical ballet style

a. Look at pictures & watch videos of Classical Ballet and study the dancer's style.
b. Choose a dancer whose style makes me love the way he or she moves and try to put some of that line or style into my dancing
c. Be a classical ballet dancer
d. Don't keep taking off the mantel of being a dancer and putting it back on when it's convenient...wear it 24 hours a day. If i believe I am a dancer, I will be a dancer.

4. Respect the choreographer and rehersal proces

a. Communication during a rehearsal should be reserved for questions before I begin and questions when I end...never during the actual dancing
b. Don't sigh, roll my eyes and make comments about the length of time something takes to get started or how much after the schedule the rehearsal ends
c. Remember that performing requires patience and practice
d. Remember that the joy is in the process, the reward is in the performance
e. Don't wait for the magic to just happen...work and the magic will be there every performance
f. Remember that this is a group effort...it requires everyone to work at a professional level...there are no free rides
g. The more often I conduct myself as a professional dancer, the more likely it is that my choreographer and fellow dancers will teach me as one
h. There is never an excuse for rudeness
i. Leave my ego at the door

5. Personal contributions to the rehearsal process

a. keep track of corrections and bring an awareness of them into the rehearsal
b. treat my costume with respect
c. have my pointe shoes and ballet slippers ready and on my feet before rehearsal is to begin
d. make sure that my shoes are in good condition and will not contribute to an injury or poor performance
e. dress appropriately for rehearsal...hair up, no jewlery, neat ballet clothes worn so that the choreographer can see my body
f. be quit in rehearsal especially when I am not being used and attend to my own special details...warming up, practicing a movemnt, creating a character, sewing costumes, observing other dancers, and learning from their success and failures
g. don't voice complaints or unsolicited opinions
h. trust the choreographer's judgement in casting, altering choreography, and corrections
i. focus on the now...use every minute of rehearsal to improve my own performance
j. if it is necessary to work out technical problems with a fellow dancer take it to the side or into another studio so that the complete run through rehearsals are not disturbed
k. never make anything in a rehearsal. Remember that only doing every rehearsal
l. remember that technique is important only because it is a tool to be used to free the body for a greater range of expression. Dancing from the heart and speaking to the audience through movement is my first priority. I have to learn to trust that what I practice everyday will support the choreographer's visual intent as well as their artistic voice.
