Garotos Podres is a punk rock band that was formed in 1982 in the city of Mauá, Săo Paulo in the metropolitan region of the Săo Paulo ABC. In 1985, still at the time of the military dictatorship, came the first album (in vinyl) of the band, Mais Podres do que Nunca ("more rotten than ever"), on the now defunct label Rocker and so then the band really started, selling about 50.000 copies and becoming popular until today. Because of the dictatorship, the music "Johnny" was censured, and others, as "Papai-Noel Filho da Puta" ("Santa Claus son of a bitch") and "Maldita Policia" ("damned police") they had been launched as "Papai-Noel Velho Batuta" ("Santa Claus cool old man") and "Maldita Preguiça" ("damned lazyness"). Mao, vocalist of the band, is also a teacher of history in "cursinhos" daily simulation of university admission tests.
