JGames - The Second Reproduction (PC)

petak , 24.10.2014.

This was an amazing game. I loved every second of it. Well, I must admit I played quite a few Japanese games of all kinds, but this one had me totally glued to the screen from the beginning to the end. I was very surprised by that since I usually get bored halfway through games. Guess Otome games are different... not all, but this one is a marvelous exception. The Second Reproduction had it all, action, adventure, love, demons, princess, a need of a hero to save the world... and much more. The characters practically make you see the world through their eyes and you live through everything together, the good and the bad. I had the bad fortune of stumbling onto a bad end and it really got to me, but I was persistent to see the happy end so I played it one more time and it was amazing. For me, this game is a pure 10/10. It's kinda hard to put it into words so stop reading my rambling and go play it because you will definitely not regret it!

Anime Movies - From Up On Poppy Hill

subota , 18.10.2014.

Another Studio Ghibli movie. Since I've seen a few movies from Studio Ghibli I noticed they are always more or less relaxed with some human drama or cause involved. This one was not the exception. The fight to preserve the Club house was really imaginative and full of determination. It was amazing to watch all those different clubs occupy the same house which was totally full of all sort of clutter. The two main characters were a nice pair even though they met in an unusual way. Their friendship and struggle against the majority was indeed admirable. It was cool how they even inspired and persuaded others to join the cause and make a difference. The whole brother-sister thing added an additional twist. Students did a lot of bonding through their hard work on the Club house which was really nice to see. All in all, this was a journey through wishes, hard work, friendships and hope.

The story is set in 1963 in Yokohama.Kokuriko (from coquelicot, French
for Papaver rhoeas) Manor sits on a hill overlooking the harbour. A 16
year-old girl, Umi, lives in that house. Every morning she raises a
signal flag facing the sea. The flag means “I pray for safe voyages”. A
17 year-old boy, Shun, always sees this flag from the sea as he rides a
tugboat to school. In preparation for next year’s Tokyo Olympics, people
are destroying the old and believing only in the magnificence of the
new. In that time, at a high school in Yokohama, a small struggle
occurred. The building of the Culture Club, nicknamed Quartier Latin, is
old but full of history and memories. Should it be destroyed or
preserved? In the middle of this, Umi and Shun meet. Shun appeals to the
students who want to protect the building. Umi suggests a big clean up
of the building to show its good parts. Gradually the pair are drawn to
each other but they are faced with a sudden trial. They may be siblings.
Even so, they keep going without running from reality. Then, in the
middle of the battle and the aftermath, they come to know how their
parents met, loved and lived.

Asian Movies - Always (Ohjik Geudaeman)

subota , 11.10.2014.

Always is a Korean movie about a blind girl and an ex boxer who accidentally meet. Watching their relationship grow was really nice since those two made a sweet couple even though they were from two different worlds. Although the main character was kinda reserved at first, he slowly warmed up to Jung-hwa. Each of the main characters had their own problems to deal with, besides those of the heart. Watching them cope with their past and present really makes you feel compassion towards them. Somehow those two gave each other hope and a new strength to move forward with the lives. The redemption for his past came with a high price.. but at least he managed to do at least one selfless good thing.

Cheol-Min (So Ji-Sub),
a man with a dark, mysterious past, picks up a part-time night job as a
parking lot attendant. He sits in the tiny pay booth in the parking lot
and stares at the small television. A woman named Jung-Hwa (Han Hyo-Joo)
walks into the booth. She offers something to Cheol-Min and sits next
to him. Cheol-Min realizes the woman is blind and she is confusing him
for the parking attendant who worked their previously.

Nevertheless, the woman comes back on another night to watch the
same television drama series. She constantly asks Cheol-Min questions on
what is happening on the television screen. Cheol-Min starts becoming
attached to the woman. Their past is tied by a life altering incident.

One day, Cheol-Min accompanies Jung-Hwa to a musical. Afterwards
they have dinner together. Jung-Hwa asks about Cheol-Min's past.
Cheol-Min ruthlessly berates Jung-Hwa for asking about his past. Their
relationship becomes frozen.

Several days later when Jung-Hwa's boss follows her home and
tries to sexually assault her Cheol-Min busts through the door. He beats
Jung-Hwa's boss savagely and attempts to comfort Jung-Hwa. They move in
together and start to live as a couple. But can their happiness last?
