CONF SOUTH Eastbourne to win the play-off's (3.00 @StanJames) 4 units (29/04/2008) I know that Eastbourne had some terrible results lately, but let's not forget all those injuries, suspensions and the fact that Lewes had one hand on the title for quite some time and the last two matches meant nothing to Eastbourne they knew that they will finish 2nd. If Eastbourne had some motivation, I'm sure Braintree wouldn't defeated them 1:0 at home this Saturday. Eastbourne rested a couple of important players this Saturday, but now they finally have a lot less injury doubts, no more suspension problems and Braintree are the perfect semi-final opponent. As a matter of fact, Braintree had a terrible April, shared points three times, lost once and only managed to beat Dorchester who were already relegated and Eastbourne who were really unmotivated, both 1:0. Braintree took this last play-off spot with some amazing, almost unbelievable help from Eastleigh, Havant, Bath, Newport and Bishop's Stortford who were all shockingly terrible in the crucial part of the season. Braintree were just a bit less terrible. Eastbourne will be a lot better team in these two semi-final matches, I'm sure of that, and in the final match played at Stevenage, well, anything can happen. The other semi-final pair, Hampton Fisher, will be pretty even, I rarely think that two teams have 50-50 chances, but in this Hampton Fisher case, I think it's like that, 50-50. I also think that Eastbourne are a better team than both Hampton (who just got promoted from Ryman Premier and the play-off failure wouldn't be that much of a failure really) and Fisher (who have a very young and very talented squad, but also lack of experience and some financial problems) most Conf South managers thought Eastbourne will grab the title infront of Lewes but we'll jump from that bridge when we get to it. For now, @3.00 is way too much. (3.00 also at Coral, BetDirect and Better, 2.87 at Skybet, 2.75 at Blue Square and 888Sport, 2.62 at Bet365...) semi-finals: Braintree - Eastbourne 0:2 FT, Eastbourne - Braintree 3:0 FT / final: Eastbourne - Hampton 2:0 FT |
