Like the much more famous CCR, Cross Canadian Ragweed plays an uncompromising brand of road-tested, workingman's roots rock. The Oklahoma-based band also often tempers its songwriting with a reflective quality reminiscent of Texas singer-songwriters such as Jimmie Dale Gilmore and James McMurtry. HAPPINESS AND ALL OTHER THINGS finds the group sticking to the plan, delivering another set of earthy, heart-on-the-sleeve, country-tinged bar rock that often sounds like Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" come to life as a band. On songs such as the jangly, Smithereens-meets-Poco-ish "To Find My Love" and the storming twang-fest "51 Pieces" the band is loose and spirited, playing its music with an offhand confidence born from years of rocking the highways and byways of America.
