The Knife je u biti švedski duo kojega čine blizanci Karin Dreijer Andersson i Olof Dreijer. Njihovu glazbu je teško deifinirati, a recenzenti ih trpaju pod electronicu, indie i synthpop. Imaju odlične tekstove, a svaka stvar je posebna na svoj način, čak se i album dosta razlikuju po zvuku. Poznati su i po tome što nisu medijski eskponirani, kada su 2003. dobili Grammyije za najbolju pop grupu poslali su članove jednog drugog benda obučene u kostime gorila sa brojevima 50 na kostimima, a tek su od 2006. krenuli sa koncertima. Kada se i pojavljuju u javnosti uvijek nose maske. 2007. dobijaju 6 Grammyja za svoj treći album Silent Shout, između ostaloga ponovno za pop bend godine, album godine te autora godine. I ponovno nisu došli preuzeti nagrade. U jednom interviju Olof Dreijer je izjavio da će bend prekinuti sa radom na nekih 3 godine, dok će se on posvetiti radu na svom solo DJ projektu - Coolof.



Bend je dosad izdao tri albuma: The Knife (2001), Deep Cuts (2003), Silent Shout (2006) te soundtrack za Hannah Med H (2003). Sve albume su izdali na svojoj Rabid Records etiketi.
