Bulletin for August 11th

MMA

Another huge one by Cro Cop
Branko cut the booze and leave me alone!

from Sportske novosti, edition august 11th

sn: what is your current weight?
mcc: 101kg (223lbs)

sn: are you satisfied with you current weight?
mcc: very

sn: it's august, do you know how many trainings you had this year?
mcc: hard to tell, but i think around 350

sn: have you ever felt tired and exhausted of this kind of life? and considering to quit the whole thing?
mcc: oh, yes sometimes it's really hard, but to quit - could this be a good call... to quit the trainings means to stop the fighting, because you can't fight without being 100% fit and ready

sn: what advise would you give to your son if he decides to practice mma one day?
mcc: if he'll have such desire - we'll work together, but i'll rather that he choose something else, this is so hard and very dangerous way.

sn: what is more harder for you to practice: wrestling or boxing?
mcc: there're both hard, but wrestling takes more energy from you

sn: on one occasion we have a privilege to talk with japanese ambassador to croatia, his excellency tetsuhisa shirakawa and he told us that before he left for croatia, japanese prime-minister mr. koizumi told him: "you're going to the crocop-land", what do you thing about that?
mcc: it means a lot to me, it's nice to hear. japanese prime-minster is an extraordinary gentleman, and as he respects me - i highly respect him too and his country. the country in which i've become what i am.

sn: how do you comment recent incidents in sukošan, when there were flyers in which you and you manager lučić were put in the same context with serbian terrorists, spies, serbian turbo-folk singers, and criminals?
mc: i lauged when i heard it, but with deep disgust, because it's unbelievable for me that someone could be so low, so malicious, so dirty in the 21st century. but this wasn't the first incident with a similar material, it comes about 2 times per year and under attack are usually: zvonimir lučić, orsat zovko and me. and behind this is one old bitter man, i know that a bright man could go crazy, but loony can't go smart. so, branko cut the booze and leave me alone

sn: tell us something about you preparations for the gp*
mcc: i'll stay in zagreb untill august 20th, then i'm going to pula for 2 weeks where i'm gonna train under my friend enver šeparović, a specialist for physical conditon who works under instructions of professor igor jukić. and also in pula i'll train with leo komšić's boys; velentino venturini, igor jurković and tomica paladin, these guys are excellent sparring partners, and in front of them is a big fighting career.

sn: who'll will join you on your trip to japan this time?
mcc: my regular crew plus professor jukić and dr.kapulica

sn: your fight with yoshida was the most mature so far?
mcc: some people looked a quite opposite on that fight, here in croatia we have so many "experts". people easly forget who is yoshida, and he is a great fighter and former olympic gold-medalist, and he wore a gi - which prevented my mid-kicks. also i had some problems with my left leg, so i badly needed a good strategy - which i executed well and finish the fight.

sn: wanderlei silva is your next opponent?
mcc: i don't like him, he is the only fighter in pride i really don't like. he's weird and doesn't have a character, but he's great fighter. still - i'll beat him.

sn: who would you prefere in the final fight?
mcc: it doesnt' matter, maybe i'd like minotauro better than barnett, no matter the fact i beat barnett twice. barnett vs minotauro - it's gonna be a great fight; barnett is in great form lately, and minotauro is minotauro.

sn: now pride organization and you are in good relations again, but what if you and them didn't found satisfying solution?
mcc: i'd stay out of gp

sn: are there any alternatives for you?
mcc: yes - usa, from where i'm getting offers constantly. of course - i'm pride fighter, i'm aware from where i've got the name and the glory, which doesn't mean that i'm not go fight in usa after all.
