Ship a Chinese Version of Path of Exile

Like other kinds of equipment, flasks can be modified with orbs that you loot from corpses. Swigging from a flask doesn't just replenish your magical energy; the refreshing liquid may also temporarily add knockback to your melee attacks, or remove bleeding. And she is truly my witch, different from the other witches I encounter in Path of Exile's shared areas. The game provides an astounding number of ways to customize your abilities, starting with skill gems. Your active abilities are not determined by a talent tree but by jewels you insert into slots on your equipment. Both gems and slots are color-coded, and you may only insert a gem into a matching slot.

It's terrifying how compelling this can be, even though it's not always very exciting. Much as I would in any action RPG, I sally forth into a dungeon or jungle somewhere and, depending upon proficiency, batter, shoot or zap my way through the dozens, hundreds, thousands of monsters. At first, I collected everything their dead hands dropped, but in time I learned to pick through the corpses for loot and take only the most valuable finds. The best items end up on my person, while the rest are traded, sold or occasionally kept for posterity. Then I do it all again.

I haven't come up with a good solution for playing mouse and keyboard-based games though, and planting a desk in the middle of the living room ain't happening anytime soon. That's the reason that, even though I also own Diablo III on PC, I vastly prefer playing it on my PS4, controller in hand. Even if I could plant a desk in the middle of the living room, I like having direct control of my character in action-RPGs rather than clicking a mouse millions of times per minute. Controller support in Path of Exile is as good as it is in Diablo III, which means it's perfectly OK but not great.

According to the post, Grinding Gear will remain a New Zealand company, and all of its developers remain on-board. They are "assured" by other CEOs that Tencent won't interfere with the game, but give no assurances in particular other than stating that they have "full control." The first step? Ship a Chinese version of Path of Exile, which Grinding Gear Games notes might get exclusive features at "Tencent's request," which could make its way into the international edition. While I'm not waving the red flag yet, that's their escape hatch in terms of someday justifying a drastic new feature. Incursion has players working with relic hunter Alva Valai to explore the Vaal Empire's Temple of Atzoatl during its construction. With persistence, you'll learn its current-day location and ideally get rich quick. There's a risk-reward system in play, too. By traveling into the past and influencing the Vaal Architects to upgrade the rooms they are building, you can access even greater treasures. Many upgraded rooms come with rewards worthy of the significant danger they introduce into the temple.
