In a previous study, Dr. Singer has studied the myotonic dystrophy caused by mutation of severe hereditary disease which is characterized by atrophy of the muscles. Singer found that in cells of patients with myotonic dystrophy mRNA molecule can not escape from the nucleus and into the cytoplasm.
Understanding how the mRNA out of the nuclei, we can develop treatments for myotonic dystrophy and other diseases in which the blocked transport of mRNA, - said the scientist.
