    Sorry to hear that but also good news. I am from Spain and we also have to go to the army. It is mandatory. Make the best out of it and hopefully you do not have to participate in any conflicts. Peace and welcome to your friend.

    In Spain, going to the Army WAS mandatory, because since 2002 the Spanish Armed Forced have been no-conscription (only professional military personnel.)
