This was written by one of my all-time favorite bands, that I have been enjoying since my earliest childhood, in the late sixties, The Peddlers. They're one of those bands that by some twisted joke of fate never reached wide aclaim, even though they were the talk of the Swinging Sixties London (and beyond) on whose gigs la creme de la creme of artists and entertainers would gather.
It was a trio, the singer was a Hammond organist and pianist with a "black" voice very similar to Ray Charles, his name is Roy Phillips (if my memory serves me well). As far as I know, only one of them (the drummer?) remained actively involved in music, being at one point a sound engineer or somebody responsible for an aspect of producing Bjork's music.
